  • The player sprite looks like hes holding a phone to his ear LOL , hes on the phone to the police saying "please come quickly, im about to have my ass handed to me" LMAO.

  • me thinks this was the first spectrum to advoid colour clash ,ie the blocks stay with the movement

  • Please watch your language.

  • @Edam3000 Sorry dad.

  • @collieuk That's ok, son. Just remember there's kids watching this.

  • Bring back the 16k wobble pack!

  • The Spectrum was one of the most awful systems in existance. The Amiga version of "Shadow Warriors" or "Ninja Gaiden" was much more similar to the arcade. This is just a load of shit.

  • Good gfx for a speccy

  • Haha. I've not seen this for about 20 years. It's rubbish. :D

  • Why does the main guy constantly look like he's listening out for something??

  • Is it just me or does the Spectrum not have many good games? Maybe I was just spoiled with the NES back in the day x_x Almost everything about this game sucks except the the attack sound effect when you hit someone because its pretty meaty. It actually sounds painful, then again, you cheated with cranking the bass up. XD

  • Matter of personal opinion and preference. There are some great games, but I think many have aged badly and there's a hell of a lot of dross out there. Really many of the games are just too simplistic in terms of gameplay, graphics and controls to be enjoyable these days for modern audiences.

  • Kind of like how Atari didn't have hardly any plot in their games and how the main point was to get the highest score?

  • @expotemkin Are you joking the spectrum was the best of the best back in the day it consumed my entire childhood i also had a nes and it was pants compared to my speccy the best tunes the best gameplay graphics was shit but hey my tv was black and white anyway

  • @DAZZYVANDAM Hey now, I started out with like a 10 inch black and white tv and had that thing all the way up until I owned my snes for 6 months until my dad bought me a 15 inch color tv for christmas. I was amazed to actually play Street Fighter in color!

  • @expotemkin And i suppose not having to wait a life time for the games to load amazed you as well as being able to play in color.

What i woulden't give to be 12 years old again lol Atari 2600 now that was something !

  • Shadow Warriors was originally an arcade game also known as (drumroll).. NINJA GAIDEN!

  • colourfull!

    and dude

u need to kill ur msn before making a review, i always think someone is talking to me and thats confusing :D

  • That's half the fun! But for some reason my PC is more slow these days and MSN and other emulators kill the recording process. I'm not sure what I can do about it to be honest, it's pissing me off but the sound is now always out of sync.

    I friggin hate PCs!!

  • "I friggin hate PCs!!"

haha, now ur sounding like my pal the C64 nerd

i recently had to tell him to go stick his C64 where the sun dont shine

the spectrum is a 1337 retro comp

and the C64 is a mainstream retro comp :p

but the same shit here, my pc has slowed the last months, pfff

and it crashes all the time too

  • I used to play this in the arcade and got the Spectrum version for my birthday.

  • Why the hell do 8-bit PC game develovers feel the need to create unnessecarily large and unwieldly status bars?

Strider for home PCs is another example of this.

  • Not Ocean's finest hour thats for sure!

    Great review as ever Collie.

  • What a fucking mess! Feel free to go mental with the colours lads. I'm tempted to decorate my living room with this colour scheme.

  • One day, Spectrum style decor will be all the rage in the homes of the future. You start now, get ahead of the game before the Grand Designs team pop over for tea and a TV interview.

  • Give me a black background any day. I've got the Spectrum colour logo painted on my wall. If you look at it from 45 degrees the colours merge to white. If the GD team pop round to me they'll end up playing speccy games and getting drunk!

  • Are you on the realretromaniacs site yet? Andy aka thereallocomaniac actually mentioned you on one of his older videos.

    w w w . therealocomaniacs . ning . com

  • Great Inept Review. Thank you. :) More please.

  • looks ok, it's like double dragon.

  • I remember playing this on the ZX Spectrum. 1st few levels were easy. If i remember correct you could just hold down the fire button+ up or down to kick/punch.

  • Yea I've heard it's actually a piece of piss once you figure out the right attack move to use. Which is what ruined 95% of all beat 'em up games on the old systems.

  • I think you can throw enemies by pushing up diagonal & fire, but your only real chance is to knock them into a breakable object in the hope that it reveals a sword which you can pick up.

I remember looking forward to playing this when it first came out because the screenshots looked really colourful for a speccy beat-em up, but the gameplay's crap. Wanted to love it, ended up hating it.

  • Ah yes, the old 'graphics look good, gameplay surely is too' shite that tricked many a Spectrum enthusiast over the years. Many was the times when I'd see a game in the computer mags that looked good, yet got an awful review, but I'd still be convinced it must be a great game....... 10 years later thanks to emulation and I realise that no, the game was indeed shite! My pocket money was saved...... well wasted on Kola Kubes but that's another matter.

  • damn that games looks bad, its just one clusterfuck after anouther

it looks like only two of the enemies can move at once

    awesome review as always
