Wicked vid! Great to know my ancestors really knew what they were doing.
As I'm interested in survival skills, I find there's lots of useful info here, although I am left wondering what animal would be pulling the arrow out that you'd need sharp edges on the back.
I think the whole point is to make your own bow using the traditional Indian methods. That way, when u do kill a deer, pig, etc, it is a thousand times more rewarding being that you have proven yourself to be a capable human.
Have not shot a traditional bow in 35 years, until this past summer. I was showing some youngsters how to shoot. I had forgot how much fun it is and was surprised how it came back to me like riding a bike. Kyletango
Thanks for uploading, and thanks for making this vid. It's good to see ( like other people have said ) that traditions lives on. I do the same for mine.
I was expecting some fake "mystical" Indian. I was totally wrong. Fantastic video, you've got a great knack for conveying information. Interesting and very cool video Sir. Look forward to more hopefully.
@Animekyle1997 yea they do I like guns well I like all weapons in General especially old ones like wwii civil war guns and native american clubs, axes, and bows and medieval swords, spears, and crossbows and Roman swords today I almost bought a Roman Gladius just needed a little bit more money to buy it
5:23 very true. That advice also comes from Japanese archery. It may have been from Hagakure but I remember hearing about a Japanese noble holding an archery contest where the contestants were told to aim for the eye of a wooden fish. The only man to actually hit the eye when asked what he saw when shooting replied "the eye of a fish" instead of "a fish" like the rest said.
I never can understand how you can claim to love animals and even risk injuring them with not so clean a shot. Old days u needed the bow i get that, u dont today.Targets fun, animals even if u eat them do not need to be downed in this way.I respect the native indian traditions i truly do,th eold ways. but now.........maybe think about a different means of slaughter. you are very close to bull fighting using this method today, tho u wont call it sport maybe...it is. regards
wat? u have a better chance of making a good shot with a bow than with a gun as long as u are in reasonable range besides the thrill of the hunt with a bow is ridiculous imagine sneakin up on a beast of a animal with senses u wouldnt believe and beating it in the game of life. idk u may or may not believe the same way i do but im just lettin ya know
wow i never knew to keep those knots in the wood when making a bow. no wonder that me carving a bow didnt work that great. and ive never seen an arrow with 4 feathers. and also great way to put feather on the bow for the wind direction. i always thought they were for decoration. i enjoy your videos and thank you very much.
this is what i love to see. its great that though all of this mechanic stuff is out and primitive bows are still popular. if u ask me i see no difference between old and modern bows apart from the obvious fact that modern bows are extrememly ugly
Aho ....for Red Hawk ,excellent video, very informative and educational ,loved the respect he shows for the deer and the fact he takes the time to share his extensive knowledge about the outdoors with others...Mike

This guy should build a composite sheep horn bow. They were extreamly rare, but were some of the most powerful and accurate bows on the great plains.
