  • this is a very old procedure...there should be a newer, faster, easier way of doing this now..

  • I have just one thing to say about it! "L.O.L"

  • Why is he telling us this like we are going to be doing it in 5 min.? lol

  • Fascinating, really enjoyed it.

  • heheh... opening the T/R cowl is not such a big extra job right? :P anyway we gotta open the fan cowl to disconnect the PS3 and P25 and cowl anti-ice sense line (in CFM56-5B we gotta do that... not sure on 737).

  • yeay! i got a reply. :D

hmm... good point. yeah, the N1 turbine section will not be washed properly.

Another way is actually to hook up a tool (a hose with a hook-shaped outlet basically) behind the fan, like how V2500 on an A320 being washed would be a good (and i think simpler) idea as well. So it will direct the flow right into the core with both N1 and N2 still rotating.

but then i dunno... must read the AMM again. haha..

  • Yep youre right we dont do it like this video. We hook up 2 spray nozzles from behind the rotor, and then inject it directly into the core. N1 and N2 rotate, all gets clean The only thing we have to do more than this video is to open up the trhrust reversers to install these injector-tools.

  • hmm... i thought by keeping the N1 not rotating and aiming the hose to the inner core would work as well?

i mean, engine starter turns the N2 right? so if we can prevent the fan section from turning, we can actually eliminates the problem of water going into the bypass section. while the core section still suck-up the water... or wrong?

  • Yep you are right its a possibility. If you hold N1 you also hold the LPT so the flow is much less inside the engine. Its better to have a good flow inside the engine to process all this water to the rear. Altough its a nice idea, washing like we now do is in accordance with the manuals, and a different procedure must be authorized by the companies engineerin dept and CFMI. Thanks for your comment.

  • wait is this a training video?

  • Please consult your aircrafts maintenance manual...

  • @zeroaviation hehe whas thinking pretty much the same thing

  • @KartKing4ever more like infomercial

  • but not a word for dirty water correct disposal

  • and your point?

  • @cloudbook1994 because safety and environmental protection must be related to any work, even in those AD.

  • But because the hot section is self-cleaning and you are only really cleaning the compressor side (pre-ignition) I would doubt that environmental issues would prevail.

  • Sounds more like a Young Tom Baker

  • The narrator sounds like Jeremy Irons...

  • What does it mean by dry motoring?

  • It means to let the engine rotate only by engine starter.Where dry means NO Fuel and No Sparks activated

    Ciaooooo...

  • It's good idea. Hot heated wather can clean all those fan blades inside. Hi and Low stage.

  • This seems good but it wont replace a guy with a fire hose.

  • what is that cable or hose that that man disconnected?

  • Around 3:20 in this video:

He disconnected the PS3 line from the EEC. This to prevent moisture/water coming into the EEC. After the engine wash is completed, this line is blown dry and reconnected to the EEC.

  • thanks, but PS3... I know is not play station, EEC, seems to be the electronics to monitor and control the engine... isnt it?

  • EEC stands for Electronic Engine Control (name says enough) , PS = static pressure. (its all aviation talk here)

  • Well, that seems easy.

  • this video is like a tutorial like im about to go clean jet engine in my backyard and go clean it. better make sure i set mine back up for flight mode and not blow air or nitrogen back into my ps3

  • Interesting though.

  • how comethis video is so casual and directed to the avarege joe ? hahah not everyone has a cfm-56 sitting in the shed waiting to be cleaned .. haha and its not like virgin atlantic or some other airline has turned to youtube for help on cleanig engines . lol take care

  • I would love to see a cleaning of a GE90-115B :oD

  • Did mine yesterday, off much quicker at the lights Lol.

  • Funny, I actually did. However, the A&P used a pressure washer to wach mine. A lot of gook did come out of it though. Maybe I'll gain a few extra pounds of useful load? :)

  • obviously preferably ... driving the plane through heavy rain... much more effective

    :p "I dare to say"

  • i think i`ll go clean my cfm-56 right now !
