  • I have one of these too! Only mine is white and the paint doesnt look too good. But I bought it with 17,300 miles on it. Im the second owner of an '84 haha

  • I drove these in the 80's. We're called them mutes, short for mutations. Looking back, they took a pretty good beating and were decent cars for the time....

  • chevy citaaaaaaaaation!

  • What the hell was the difference between the Citation and the Citation II?

  • I wish mine looked 1/4 as good as yours. 2 tone silver/charcoal with lots of rust and no shine. 4 door with X-11 hood, rims, and rear spoiler.

  • Anybody that buys crap like that should a free Honda Civic out of pity

  • Driving like that will earn you a "second Chevy Citation"!

  • God those were the worst cars chevrolet ever made next to the chevettes. They rarely lasted more than 5 years. the citation was just mentioned on yahoo news as one of the top 10 worst cars of all time.

  • They were good cars if you take care of them and I have owned three of them in the last 10 years. Flood, drugged idiot, and the next one waits for the parts from the wrecked one.

  • Yea the Citation and Chevette had some bad problems. The Celebrity was great though.

  • You realize under the skin the Celebrity is the exact same car as the Citation?

  • Wasn`t the citation an X body and the Celebrity an A body. I think you made a mistake m8.

  • A and X cars were the same. The A was a little bigger, and more modern looking.

  • @Beastmasterification A bodies were nothing more then a stretched x body!! Any trans axle driven fwd that gm has made since 1980 has been based on the x body chassis in shape or form!

  • agreed

  • oh, lord. this was my first car ever! if i ever see one on the side of the road for sale, i'll pull over and buy it on the spot. i loved this car so much.

  • i have never heard one before but this car sounds pretty nice

  • Like the Vega and Cavalier, cars like these exemplify GM's haste in attempting to compete with Honda and Toyota- which they continue to fail at embarrassingly to this day, with the Cobalt, among others.

  • Agreed..the americans will never build them like the japs..or euros for that matter...Honda power!!!!!!

  • those are two words that shouldnt be near each other.....honda and power.

  • hahaha.. true man. true.

  • You obviously have never owned or drove a Honda. A V6 Accord would blow the doors off just about any other American six or four out there. Even the Civic's VTEC four is quick and powerful.

  • You made me laugh....any 4 or 6 american...man you are something special.

Remember if you diss a Honda it HAS to be because you never drove one. They are just THAT AWESOME.

  • Yeah well did you know for over a decade the Honda accord,s have had terrible automatic transmissions? they would go to about 100 K then Die! Dont believe me look it up!

  • @jakesaintsrow123 I don't need to look it up. Having owned 2 Accords over the last ten years, my family and I drove each to over 200.000 miles the cars were still going strong. I only replaced them because we wanted something new.

  • my wife and i both have cavaliers. we have a 91 and a 98. the 91 has a 2.2 TBI and 142K on the original drivetrain. it still runs strong and the body is still excellent (southern car). any $9,000 something car that last 19 years is built extremely well. so i definitely disagree with you.

  • I had a 1984 Celebrity, 2.8V6 + 3 speed auto & 2V carb for several years. Got it from my brother after he'd been at university + my dad had it as a company car. 11 years old w/ 185k miles then but I was able to push that to 345k miles in ~5 years without ANY internal engine or trans work being done. Part was by my taking good care but they were pretty reliable if you didn't abuse them. Sold after repeated elect probs relating to the comp controlled carb that stranded me a number of times.

  • It's a sleeper ... Bet it's a MPFI 3.8.

  • yes it's a sleeper, but it still has it's stock carburated 2.8L V6 =)

  • Is it fuel injected? Sounds good!

  • it is carburated, 2.8L V6 :-)

  • Wow ! It looks like it just came off the assembly line ! Thanks for keeping an unusual car on the road - for all the bad publicity, it marked a turning point for North American manufacturers, who finally realized size isn't everything. There used to be a guy who drove his every day fro Barrie to Toronto and back - it was a red X11. Nice job !

  • thank you for the comment smokes. The original engine is still in there, currently has around 204,700 kms on her right now. She is still running strong and has ample power, a little hard on gas, but if I drive responsively I get decent mileage.

  • AW! Please don't abuse the Citation! If you're going to treat it like that, send it to me so I can take care of it. You can have my 2002 saturn..we'll trade!

  • No no, I rarely abuse my baby, I was just showing off :P But I think I'm done showing off cause I blew a valve cover gasket and had to change it. So no more abusing ever.

  • is that a 2.8? I had a 1980 2.8 with the 4 speed manual. I used to love that burble when you rev the engine. It was bright red with tan interior. I'm glad to hear someone likes their Citation

  • Yes it's a 2.8V6, 3 speed auto. She only has 200,000 kms on her. I bought it last year off the original owner. I have a cardomain page if you would like to see more pictures of it. I'm glad you like my Citation :)

  • @CanadianCitation I Have a 1985 buick skylark in mint shape...2.8 v6..Pretty quick..decent Gas Milege...I Love the car..Great cars..X-Cars are Amoung my favorites!

  • My citation is in near mint condition, but the back plastic near the bumper is cracked a little bit . Mines Brown with the 5 spoke rims. Get your car rust treated man you and I have a rare car.

  • LOL I like how he had to wait for that car to pass.

  • I got an 85 Citation II as well. lol only makes 145 hp and get 24 mpg but I still love it, Hey now yours is in great shape too but mines brown

  • How'd you get it up to 145?

  • Sounds nice :) Good vid!
