There simply does not exist better monodic settings of the gloria than these, they are the standard, all used for hundreds of years in latin - and yet they are generally ignored. The ignorance must end.

It is frustrating to not hear any english language gregorian chant used there. Modern Polyphonic music can be so complicated sometimes that the words become lost in the music. I always tell my choir and everyone else I talk to, that the text is the most important aspect of Orthodox Catholic music. The text has to be understandable. So, in churches that means that you need to move away from the complicated polyphony and move to more simple, yet elaborate, homophonic or monophonic chant styles.

@LiturgicalChants You have to remember that everyone has a Missal with the words right in front of them. It really is not a problem. Anglican use parishes can and should stay within the traditions retained from the Church of England to include a wonderful musical tradition. The Anglican music tradition is not the same as the Roman music tradition. Both are beautiful, but they are distinct.

@s216674 It would be incorrect to state that Anglican tradition is so distinct from the Roman liturgical tradition as to avoid using gregorian chant altogether. For many Anglo-catholics who were part of the Church of England, they retained a tradition which was identical to that of Rome, they continued to use that which was in use before the reformation. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal states that “Gregorian chant holds pride of place because it is proper to the Roman Liturgy”
