(this is not a knock against kefka in anyway) or do they prefer a simple yet intimidating look with a bit more reasoning. Me:both
@BlackenedThorn point taken. but I think it still continues because in addition to the character design, he is still, out of all final fantasy's one of the toughtest, if not THE toughest boss out of over 50 different final fantasies (including spin offs) Tack on the design with a voice that's both calming yet unnerving and the hype, i'd say should be rather stagnant at this point. But you are right. The Sephiroth following does become belittling to all other characters and it shouldn't be so.
In general, Sephiroth was easy compared to the monsters you can fight down in the sunken submarine.
Jenova seemed equally easy on every fight against her. More over, I think Jenova was the REAL villain of FF7, she was pulling Sephiroth's strings the whole time and was orchestrating the entire plot to use Meteor on the world.
Personally, despite being an easy boss, she proved a far greater villain than Sephiroth.
@BlackenedThorn i gotta disagree though because if you're just playing through without level grinding and such, and fight him with the result you have there, then it's ridiculously hard. Of course level grinding and item prepping will make him easy, that's just a given rule of rpg's. And I always though of Jenova as more of a form of motivation for Sephiroth moreso than a string puller. She didn't tell Sephiroth to massacre the Shinra Company. That was of his own will, like most of his decisions

She knew her fate was to eventually die when summoning the Final Aeon, so she tried to smile a lot. There's a lengthy scene where she explains this to Tidus...that she wanted her journey to be full of laughter, so she didn't have to think about what would happen once they got to Zanarkand.

@SteelandSouls15 Hey, don't get me wrong, I love FF7, however, its a game that has received much more praise than it should.
I mean, Sephiroth is a great villain, but Kefka literally destroys the word halfway through the game.
I think people should just make better arguments for liking him rather than making mundane and vague ones like "HES DAH BEST VILLAIN EVER."

@BlackenedThorn I believe most of the Sephiroth hype comes from his character design. Although it's very simple it has so many unique traits to it and it just carries around badassery. So here's where it comes to people to decide. Do they enjoy a villain with a bursting personality with flamboyancy about him but a somewhat weak reasoning behind it other than it's fun. (this is not a knock against kefka in anyway) or do they prefer a simple yet intimidating look with a bit more reasoning. Me:both

But in comparison to other characters I have seen, even outside the FF franchise, I think its majorly undeserved of this day and age.

@BlackenedThorn point taken. but I think it still continues because in addition to the character design, he is still, out of all final fantasy's one of the toughtest, if not THE toughest boss out of over 50 different final fantasies (including spin offs) Tack on the design with a voice that's both calming yet unnerving and the hype, i'd say should be rather stagnant at this point. But you are right. The Sephiroth following does become belittling to all other characters and it shouldn't be so.

I just recently replayed FF7, and Sephiroth is not at ALL hard compared to the prior bosses you must face.
IN FACT, if you have counter attack equipped on the last fight scene, you don't even have to use Omni Slash.
MORE OVER, its been proven even ONE point of damage will kill him at that screen.
To be honest, Jecht from FFX was harder.

In general, Sephiroth was easy compared to the monsters you can fight down in the sunken submarine.
Jenova seemed equally easy on every fight against her. More over, I think Jenova was the REAL villain of FF7, she was pulling Sephiroth's strings the whole time and was orchestrating the entire plot to use Meteor on the world.
Personally, despite being an easy boss, she proved a far greater villain than Sephiroth.

@BlackenedThorn i gotta disagree though because if you're just playing through without level grinding and such, and fight him with the result you have there, then it's ridiculously hard. Of course level grinding and item prepping will make him easy, that's just a given rule of rpg's. And I always though of Jenova as more of a form of motivation for Sephiroth moreso than a string puller. She didn't tell Sephiroth to massacre the Shinra Company. That was of his own will, like most of his decisions

I won't argue though, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of it.
Fanboys constantly cheering the game on ruined it for me much like overhype ruined Paranormal Activity and The Hangover for me as well.
People get my expectations up, and then I'm let down because its not what they say it is.
Sephiroth is no doubt a good villain, but the best, I have to strongly dissagree with.

@BlackenedThorn I know this was an old argument, so forgive for comment surfing, but X-2 was literally just a fan service game. The creators never expected much revenue from it (which is why not so much time was put into it) so that is why X-2 is the way it is. They even stated that the X was suppose to be about a more spiritual journey, while X-2 was more about the after and cultural journey.

@deviltetsuo555 Uh...I hate to break it to you, but if you played the game, Yuna was upbeat in that one too. She knew her fate was to eventually die when summoning the Final Aeon, so she tried to smile a lot. There's a lengthy scene where she explains this to Tidus...that she wanted her journey to be full of laughter, so she didn't have to think about what would happen once they got to Zanarkand.

Seeing Lightning's fight with Chaos only makes this more tragic that she didn't get another 13 character to be here with. Couldn't they have brought in Snow, Sazh, Fang, or, hell, even Vanille? (Not Hope, since I don't think he'd fit in with this type of gameplay at all.) Or, to give her a corresponding villain, even Barthandelus in his human form? Sheesh.
