With as little downforce as they were carrying down the Mulsanne you have to think it got "interesting" for the C9 just then as he was tucked in behind the two jockying Jags...
Actually the WM Peugeot in 1988 saw 416km/h in the qualifying, but that car was only designed with the sole purpose of taking the all time fastest speed on the Mulsanne straight. In the race they saw 405km/h and thenr retired with an overheating car.
Most people believe th 1973 Porsche 917-30 Can-Am to be the fastest circuit racing car ever. In qualifying the engine produced around 1500hp. In the races around 1100hp.
Of course, Top Fuel Dragsters reach over 500km/h in 4,5 seconds, but do they really count as racecars??
@PWRex About wether or not u can class the cars as race cars other than the xjr-9 u can class them as not race cars but instead they are Endurance cars but like i said, Other than the xjr-9 because the car has the aero design's of a sprint car not a standerd le mans design with the famous le mans tail but was given a V12 to mach the power of the standerd le mans power the xjr-9 is in a class of it's own due to it's 50/50 design it's half racing car & half endurance car so u cant give it a class.
@BlackJaguar1100 we were talking about the fastest racecars and McLarenMercedes mentioned that dragsters are way faster so we ware talking about them in general. Hmm i have Gran Turismo 4 and 5 both have the Jaguar XJ-R9 it's one of the most awesome race cars in the game.
Damn, dicing at 200 mph isnt for the faint hearted, or those lacking skill, lol

before 1990 that must have been so scary going down down the straight, the sauber got to 407 km/h in qualifying, 407!

Roger Dorchy drove the WM Peugeot to 416km/h.
