Hola.Da la casualidad de que a mi me ha pasado lo mismo que a ti,exactamente igual.Llevaba 25 años con esta cancion en la cabeza y hoy 26 de enero del 2012 por fin he dado con ella
Believe it or not but I've had the images of this video going around in my head for 26 years and was never able to work out what the song was. I finally solved it today. It's like sweet mercy!
That's Brian singing "I need her and you need him" towards end of song, plus falsetto in background. He arranged all the vocals in this song too. Love how he appears as "ACME" guy in this vid. Lol
@KreeshaMe Wow, I never listened carefully enough - I thought it was Mike on the "I'll leave her and you leave him" coda, and now I can hear you're right. I actually thought Brian had nothing to do with this great record (he didn't write it), and now I find he had a LOT to do with it.
Ever notice this song works in a strange way - the chorus is actually all background vocals with no melody, and is reduced in volume to the level of background vocals to emphasize that effect. Unique!
Having had the pleasure of meeting the band on several occasions (my Uncle Bobby was their drummer/percussionist for many years) this video brings back a lot of great memories, especially meeting Carl who was the sweetest man...
@randomeddie Thanks a bunch for saying that you name dropper. Just kidding man, I envy you big time. I wish I had met those guys, they seem like wonderful fellas and such great singers and musicians. I was born too late ('65) but not too late to love the Beach Boys music. I'll never forget Reagan telling watts ( or whatever his name was) to put a sock in it, and hey I like the beach boys
@alienhuman Nope Im shure is Brian, Check out the song In My car from 1987 is the same falsseto voice because Carl never sang a fallseto like that and Jeff never make a exact fallsetto as Brain did.
much like 80s is retro now - in the 80s - there was a big 60s retro thing going on right in the mid 80s (sort of runs in 25 year cycles if you notice) - this song was trying to tie into that (similar to say - Uptown Girl by Billy Joel... for example...)
Hmmm... I've obviously heard this song before, but until now I didn't realize that it sounds rather like any number of Supremes songs, especially "Where Did Our Love Go"...
The overall Mike Love-ness and 80's production aside, the backing harmonies are awesome, and the falsetto could'nt be anyone else (presuming it IS Brian, I don't think he'd had that strong a falsetto since 1970 or so...)
Great tune! Man..I remember seeing this video when it first came out. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago!! This brings back some good memories. Thanks for posting :)
An ACME Van? I remember seeing this video but not the van that says 'ACME.' Every time I think of ACME , I think of Warner Brothers and Looney Tunes. What does ACME stand for anyway? Can never figure it out for years.
@ScorpioBornIn69 ACME actually did exist and it seems that cartoons adopted this name ironically ´cause what I've heard is that those products were poor quality.

I think what the beach boys and brian wilson figured out a long time ago is that it's the simple things that become classics. A boy and a girl, or a car, the things of youth that we've never forgotten. They also had an incredible ability to somehow disappear as you listened to them and let the music take over. Then re-appear at the conclusion. They were powerful in the foreground but manged to play 90% in the background. They were great. Not to be forgotten.
Beach Boys are without a doubt one of the best and most talented bands EVER and one reason is cause they exude something that is totally missing (from todays garbage they call music)and that is under appreciated called POSITIVITY and HOPE!
