  • Hi John,

What type of electrolyte do you prefer between KOH and lye? Please state reason.

    Thank you.

  • Can't do that... haven't done a test on that..

  • John, have you ever tried pulsing 12V to an automotive ignition coil accross your electrodes? I recall SM talking about large amounts of voltage with very little current. I enjoy following your research and would love to see you put this idea in the mix.

12V -> pulsing driver circuit -> Ignition Coil (IC) | IC High Voltage -> electrodes.

  • I did try that... I still have the coil... it didn't work (for me)... Thanks for the thought... If it can be thought about .. more likely I will try it..

  • when the magnet is on the bubbles don's seem to reach the same size before coming off. watch closely.

  • Thanks for all the work you do. :)

Do you think it might be beneficial to figure out how to quantify the gas volume of your experiments so the results are a little less subjective?

  • At 4 amps, I dont believe its worth what ever difference there is. Good try, though.

  • believe what i was seeing with the magnet on, was the hydrogen was in a Tight pattern. where without it was spread out wide.

  • Nothing new here... others are doing it... I am after something else... (Don't know what .. but I will know it when I see it..)

  • it looks like when the magnet is off the small bubbles coming off the screws r coming off in two distinct streams, but when the magnets on, the two streams of bubbles look to collide or stick

  • John, looking at the screws, do you think there is an advantage to be had with the added surface areas from the screw threading? If so, have you experimented with stainless steel mesh as opposed to flat plates?

  • I have tried and found the plates better... I believe there is a video on that...

  • from what I see the electro magnet helps the big bubbles to come off the screws, so it helps with the surface area. more water comes in contact with the screws with the magnet on. only thing is the screws should be totally insulated and the alligator clips you use should also be insulated. the only thing that should touch water should only the tips of the screws. fix this and I bet you will draw less current and get better production.
