Even if her last 3 children don't end up actually having autism, they will act as though they would. some of you have autistic children but dont give up on them bc they are autistic. its not curable but with lots of help they can progress into functioning kids and adults. a close friend had an autistic child. he didnt talk for years and was angry and hitting all the time. mostly bc he could not communicate. he would bang his head a lot as well. she worked with him a lot and now he is a very smart young teenager, acts like all teens just a bit more shy. it takes time but dont get discouraged

I couldn't even imagine having another child, mostly because of the risk of another autistic child. Also, who is going to take care of these precious children when the parents are no longer here? So going off of that, they obviously believed they had an equal chance of having ''typical" children. I cannot pretend to know what you've gone through with your son, but have you seen any of Jenny McCarthy's discussions of her (and MANY many others) success through diet and other means?

@pildo2000 I am quite aware of Jenny McCarthy, and the diet that she has her son on...but did you know that there is no scientific evidence that the gluten free/casein free diet is effective? Some parents swear by it. I tried it with my son, and he was so hungry that he was digging other kids lunches out of the garbage at school. He has no food allergies, so I decided to cease the diet. Jenny's son is not even autistic. He was diagnosed with Landau Klefner syndrome. Its a seizure disorder

We have 5 children and I'm the one in the middle and the one with PDD NOS. But I agree that when the child with autism is to much trouble, you shouldn't have more children. When a child has autism and you know how to not let it be a problem, you can have more chidren. If it's to much trouble concentrate on your child with trouble.

That's how science works.

In any debate there are two Hypothesis: the Null and the Alternative .

You assume the negative (the null) and if data supports a positive you accept the Positive (alternative)

When a child is born we assume that child does not have Type I Diabetes, but we test to see.

If the child's test comes back negative we continue to assume the child does not have Type I Diabetes, reject the alternative hypothesis, nothing can prove a negative.

Both CDC/FDA don't list 1 clinical study showing thimerosal is safe. They refer to human & animal studies from the 1930's as the proof of safety, then urged it's removal from vax in 1999
