It can withstand a 3 foot drop. I wouldn't recommend the full-force throwing unless it's been outfitted with a solid-state hard drive. As for the bullet proof part, magnesium isn't the strongest metal, so if you were going to fire a 9mm, it would probably go straight through the laptop. It is tougher than any other laptop on the market, though. This has been called the toughest of the Toughbooks.
I also going to buy a CF-27. Is it really that tough. Can you throw this laptop against a wall with full force (with the lid closed and the power off), and then still work with it ? Is it bullitproof ?
@xMandalorex Yes, the P2. I have one of these as well, it's a P2-233 model. The 28 is a PIII (mine is 600MHz), the 29 is a Centrino model and I believe the 30 is a Core 2 model.
I repectfully disagree, Linux is the most powerful and cheapest OS that I have heard of. Now, since it is a free country, I respect your opinion, I am just sharing mine.

How fast does Zenwalk go on the toughbook? I'm using Crunchbang standard 9.04.1 on my toughbook, and it runs at a respectable pace.

Why not just put Xubuntu on it? runs as fast as any MS OS
