  • Hey mate, do you have a vid teaching the one-footed stop using the rear foot (I've heard it called the 'Anchor stop')? Basically I mean using the outside edge of the rear foot to stop whilst pulling your leading foot up.

  • @lyn0002 It's called a "T-Stop", and you'll find it in my videos.

  • what shoes do you have? and which ones do you prefer für freestyle?

    nice greetings

  • @stiviefootball I use Xtreme Ice Skates and Freestylers don't seem to favor any particular brand or model of ice-skates.

  • how do you slide so far with hardly any speed? i just dig in, is this because i got my skates sharpened the same day?

  • @Imnotsur3 Depends on a lot of things, but if you just got your skates sharpened, than yes that will contribute. Also depends on how you pitch your blade during the stop, and also depends on tightness of skates and type of hollow sharpening you got.

  • @Prolite another thing is should my ankles be able to move left and right, i dont mean within the boot i mean as if im wearing a normal shoe or no shoe at all? or should they brace my ankle so it cant move?

  • @Imnotsur3 They should move at the very top. Your ankles should be able to pivot. However, you're not stuck to any particular design per say. You can modify your lacing so that it fits your style of skating.

  • ninja stop

  • Great teachers thanks mate :)

  • you video's are billaint!

ive been doing exactlly wt u have sed and now im brillaint!! thank you! make more! and some coool tricks too!

  • The arm position looks pretty important, it'll explain why I'm loosing balance at the very even of the slide...

  • 1:09 is rly easy for me

  • beaut ee ful

  • not as easy as it looks

  • the beginning looks like saya-man from dragonball z :D but nice skating and tutorial :)

  • lol the beginging was funny! lol

  • I'm a funny guy :)

  • i totally envy you right now :) [ you are good at it]

  • Thanks dude.

  • @yosoyian: You can be as good too! Just needs a little practice, sharpened skates, an ice rink, and off you go ;)!

  • your tutorials helped me al lot about using proper techniques im not that good yet but getting better

    question

what is the music playing 25 sec??

  • Once we did an exercise while training. We get speed and stop on one foot sliding as far as possible, more than 10-12 metres...(we are figure skaters.)

  • Yes, for edge control.

  • Okay, i'm thinking of playing ice so i started ice staking at Altricham. and i saw a few people sliding for like a meter and half. anybody know what it's called?

  • Were they hockey players?

  • Yeah, they wasn't in kit, they were waiting for everyone to go so they could train, but they di the hockey stop but did it for so far.

  • I too skate at Altrincham, have done for 2 years, ask the Marshalls to tell you who Ben is that used to marshall, hopefully i'll be there for them to point me out though, i'll try to help you

  • this is like, the only way i stop haha

i like balancing on one leg, and just stopping with one leg, never using my other foot

  • can you make tutorial for inside foot one footed stop?

  • I think I have footage for R-Stop and T-Stop.

  • i dont understand ;(

you have tuts for both (inside and outside) one footed stop?(standing on one leg)

  • This video teaches inside edges. If you're looking for outside edges, the T-Stop and R-Stop would be what you'll need. I have footage for them but haven't created create tutorials for them yet.

  • this is actually really easy, a good party peice

  • Yes, this is in the beginner skill level category for the sport.

  • I think it won't make much difference on stops. When your blades haven' been sharpened for a while, you're more likely to slip while skating. But it makes spins easier I've been told. :-)

  • it does lol that why i havent gotten mine sharpened but im sure i will end up falling im getting new skates anyway

  • Hi i am just starting to get back into my ice skating, and i havent had my blades sharpened for a whil, will this make it easier for me to skid/stop or wil will it make it harder?

    Thanks

  • i'm starting ice skating the skates im gettin are ccm: vector 02 2008 are they good they are£60.00

  • i got a used pair of vector 04 2008, for 60 CAD

  • where to you put your weight? middle of the blade, etc.?

  • yes.

  • teach me how to ice skate..

please check out my video's too.. , Im a noob.. been skating for 2 yeARs but still can't skate properly.. , thanks..

  • can anyone comment on my one footed stop ??? cheers

  • Cool 8)

  • why dont you make a website with al you vids and tips

  • thnx for this vid m8 i can finally do this now really well at high speeds =) can u do a tutorial on the sciccor stop plz i reli want to learn tht =) cheerz

  • Thanks for your comments. We're currently working on membership accounts so Xtreme Ice Skaters can be officially recognized by the end of the summer. And beginner testing will be underway by the end of the year -- so we won't be doing new tutorials until next year. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll answer any questions though. Send me an email at the official website about the scissor stop so I remember to answer it.

  • This trick is so amazing, thanks to this vid. I did this earlier in our local skating rink ;) Thanks to this video!

  • are normal blades better than t blades or what?? im buying new nike baurers tomorrow :) brap

  • I wouldn't suggest t-blades for this sport.

  • I allways found this stop alot easier than the hockey stop, when ever i do a hockey stop i normally hardly use my left foot behind but i guess i need more practise to do the hockey stop...

  • This Vid is cool....

  • No, not for this one.

  • which stops do you need sharp skates?

    have you ever used t'blades?

  • The sport of Xtreme Ice Skating requires sharp skates and a deep hollow sharpening.

  • oh. but have you ever used t'blades

  • No, I am sorry but I have not.

  • i use t blades an this stop is ok with them . i have only just learned all the stops . keep tryin i tried for months

  • I am glad that your persistence is kept up.

  • Tuck stop is when you "tuck" your foot around the other. One Footed Stop is when you bring one foot to the other knee as high as possible, all while keeping both arms in a straight line.

  • Ohh.. ok that sounds reasonable btw, i'm a bit confused about the straight line thing.. as in keep both arms in a straight line horizontally or vertically?

I can do the one-footed stop (i actually learnt that one before stopping with both feet) but i've never tried tucking it in, but anyway whenever i attempt the one-footed stop, both my arms kinda naturally fling up and point horizontally. After that my arms fling up to form like a 90 degree at the elbow.. mm, can i correct that in any way?

  • Keep both arms horizontally, but on a angle facing downwards. Lessons video 2007 shows this a bit, and the "how to stop" video shows this near the end before it goes into the credits. Sorry for confusion but all of these little details will be in the rules book video. This video will come out later this year (a LOT of hard work; it is time consuming).

  • Mm oh ok thanks dan!

Btw this beginner video thing, anyone can join right? Like anyone from any country? because if thats so, i would like to try it out maybe.

  • Yes. Anyone from any country can join. You would simply pay a small fee for an annual membership. You would get membership benefits, privileges, a certificate, and a registration certificate that recognizes you're an Xtreme Ice Skater. This would be placed on the official website. Details are on my channel page. I just updated it today.

  • i can finally do this and the hockey stop , thanks for the vids keep it up

  • brafford ice skating rink is full of xtreme ice skaters learining new moves evry month or day should take a trip up there some day

  • okaii.. thx.. xDD.. and am the first girl from Dortmund ( germany )xD... I learn the inside stop now..

  • Ok. Great. Looking forward to a video.

  • And I am the first boy from Aachen (germany) who learned it :)

  • Haii Dan..How are you?... This trick isn't hard to learn.. I'm from GErmany and out of Dortmund.. I'm the first girl is doing Xtreme ICeskating =).. but.. could you put a video into Youtube with the inside foot stop *I don't know the real name in english* this is the *outside foot stop*

IF You understand me =D.. thanks and bye

    --> a big fan of Iceskating--> Caddi

  • Glad. It is a Beginner trick. The first female Xtreme Ice Skater is from Hungary and she is in my favorites. Thank you for your comments. I am very busy with tutorials but you can ask me questions about the inside foot stop.

  • Sorry. I made a mistake. The first female Xtreme Ice Skater is from Bulgaria, not Hungary.

  • do you have to use arms or can you do it without??? so like with your arms down??

  • You must use your arms, and they have to angled and in a straight line. This is for balance, use of energy, cognitive training, proper form, and for entertainment. It will be required for beginner testing.

  • hmm i juz went for iceskating for the first time and for 1 hour i only know how to balance and walk on the ice even though i did fall down after that. does anyone know where there are video where it teaches u how to move forward and backward correctly?

  • Backwards skating video coming in a month.

  • How have you got the whole ice rink to urself??? and btw this video helped alot

  • Yes. Thank you for your comment.

  • I've tried learning the two footed stop but i find i just tend to turn more, i can do a one footed snow plough but it takes a while to stop. is the one footed stop easier than the two? when i try to angle my foot to stop it just spins me

    Any tips?

  • Yes. YOu need to slow down your stop. Go really slow and concentrate on pushing your front foot FORWARD. Make your arms straight. I have a "How to Stop" tutorial coming out this weekend and it will discuss this issue.

  • Hey thanks for the tips i can do the hockey stop two footed but the one is still out of my league till i can learn to ballance right.

I can never seem to ballance right or sometimes i try to stop but in correcting my ballance i kind of glide to the left after the initial stop (if that makes any sense at all let me know)

  • Adjust your arms so they are on a decline and they follow a straight line. Let your mind follow that straight line and your body will follow.

  • GOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • hey im a beginner at stops and i dont know what kind of stops i should do first, any tips?

  • Two footed stop and this one.

  • By that do you mean to try to stand up straighter? So my front skate is more straight up and down?

  • Yes.

  • Nice vid.

As a poor skater (I get by, but barely lol) I find sliding stops to be frustrating. Not necessarily as in this video..just the typical sliding stop, one foot forward, the back foot also on the ice.

If I go right-foot-forward, body turns left, I can do all right. But the other way (left-foot-forward, body turns right) my front foot just digs in and I launch myself lol.

I've tried practicing, tried to see what I'm doing different from one side to the other... but no luck.

    Any tips?

  • Don't lean to the ice as much.

  • cool video, how sharp are your blades? I'm a beginner and I've read that too sharp makes it harder to stop, but is that true?

  • Yes, that's true, but you should start off with blades that are not so sharp. This is a beginner move. As you get better, get sharper blades, or a deeper hollow sharpening.

  • when you stop you lift the foot your not stopping on up from behind you mine would be on front of me because im stoping on the outside of the blade i will try upload a video showing you this evening

  • a good way to describe it is dont change foot but turn yourself around 180 so your on the other side of the same skate hope that helps

btw your an amazing skater hope to be that good some day

  • hey when i one foot stop i do it on the inside edge of my blade so i do it on the other side of the blade is this diffrent in any way ?

  • I don't understand what you are asking me.

  • when i do this stop i do it on the outside edge of my skate so that the foot not on the ground is above me does this cause a problem ... sorry if its hard to understand what im saying

  • Please upload a video to youtube so I can see what you are doing.

  • Instead of turning your body clockwise to stop on the inside of your left blade, you turn anti-clockwise and stop on the outside of the blade instead. Just a different way of doing it.

  • nice work , thanks

  • how long have you been skatin for?

and how long would u say it would take any1 to learn that stop?

  • 14 years.

Depends on your skill level. This is a beginner move.

  • cool

thanks ur videos are really helpful

  • I need to learn the left foot ones... sometimes I hate being a figure skater... you get way too comfortable on one foot. Hmmm!!! remind me to video a friend of mine who does a crazy spread eagle pushes... just like crossing over on a spread eagle bent position. Funny to hear your East Coast accent too!!! lol

  • Nice:P

  • your skates sound so sharp ;_; my rink wont do it any sharper then 1/2 a hollow, even when i asked for 1/4.

  • You need to find someone who will. It took me a long time to find someone good. Even still, I have to tip the guy a lot of money to make sure everything is done perfectly.

  • thanks man learn a lot from you

  • Glad I can help.

  • Nice teaching dude...
