Thank you so much for posting this video. As a medical student it's great to be able to see examples of the conditions we read about- like they say, a picture paints a thousand words, and a video like this is even better. Really glad to hear your daughter is doing so well!
My son has these. he was just diagnosed with absence seizures. It took me years for a doctor to do something. they just kept saying we will keep and eye on it. I showed my son this video because he had no idea what was going on. thanks for posting this
My sister passed away years ago but she was an epileptic. I'm now too having seizures. Partial seizures. I think they started a couple of years ago. Not sure. This is a good video though. It shows what absence seizures are like. My sister had what they called at the time grand mal seizures and petit mal seizures.
Thank you for posting this. As a preschol teacher I needed to see an absence seizure so I would know if this is what was happening in my classroom. Thank you so much for allowing others to see this. I can't even tell you how important this was.
My daughter does this as well.. When she has a lot of absence seizures its normally a sign shes about to go into a full out grand mal seizure. Thanks for posting this. When she was doing this i was so confused as to what she was doing and what it was. With videos like this we were able to call attention to her dr and be properly treated.
I am 12 and i have it. It doesnt hurt or anything to have an EEG it may be a lil uncomfortable if they put the towel right under their neck like they did to me they just flash light and the test takes about 30 to 45 minutes
i would just like to say that i have done a lot of resurce and watched a few vedeos on children having seizures and would just like to say thank you for posting this as it has help me, i have a 4 year old she has only just turned for and has been having them a few months but getting more reqular. but this is all new to me any information anyone can give me would be fantastic, I wish your daughter all the best for the future she's a darling

@BRACKMENS210 Its very difficult to explain. my english isnt that good. Its like Im in my own world, i can hear you and see you, but i dont understand what you are saying to me.. Everything feels so far and so quiet.
was having. Fourth, this video did help her doctor diagnose her and they actually kept a copy to show in internships because these seizures are rarely taped because they are so short. And lastly, I AM NOT SHOUTING, I am a loud person and the camera was right by my mouth, this is exactly what a physician told us to do to see if it was an absence seizure.
Okay I have not been on here I forever but let me clear some things up. First, my daughter is now 9 and doing fantastic, she is as close to perfect as a kid can get- seizure free for 2 years thanks to medication. Second, my daughter knows this video is on YouTube and she is fine with it. Third, the reason I posted it is because when we were researching this disease all I wanted to see was a video of someone having and absence seizure so I could compare and see if it was what my daughter was
@tamradewbre1978 thank you so much for sharing! My mother just recently started having them and she's elderly..... I don't know what to do, except pray and hope that all the stupid medicines the doctors are giving her will not cause any further problems :-(
@tamradewbre1978 Thanks having family history of Epilepsy and having them too as a child it has been 11 years since I have seen a seizure. My husband was the last person I seen have one. My 13 yr old daughter had one and the first thing that came to mind was her having a Grand Mal, that freaked me out even more. I wanted to compare the two and your video helped me understand more of which one she had. Thanks
@akumie wat the fuck makes u think imma b lookin in ur profile idiot.... n stop sayin "Only in American" bullshit im not even AMERICAN!!! god how i i hate idiots like u
@JamaicanFro these videos are for EDUCATIONAL purposes, hence the category "Education", obviously something you know very little about. It's actually, on the contrary, wonderful parenting. She's communicating with others who have the same issues, in hopes to educate and be educated on how to better deal with the seizures.
I have grand mal epilepsy, I used to have Absence Seizure but they are gone now, i can say that those kind of seizures feels exactly like a deja vu och like you came to an epiphany but forget it direct after

@Niceboy3377 no...i don't even know i'm having one as i am seizing.. some people come out of it right or shortly after while others like myself don't come out of it for a day or 2...that's when i find out that i had one..some may have some kind of warning before having one but while one is having the seizure it's like it didn't happen and when u "wake" up u r confused...
actually i think i may have had absence seizure when i was in class cuz after seconds i felt like i missed something and i can't remember it! i don't know! none of my friends noticed it otherwise they would've told me!
@Fishstixj4l The true name is Petit Mal which means "small seizures" or Abence seizures in this case, they send sufferers into an uncontrolled daydream state. Instead of big seizures in which you see people convulsing, they are have a small seizure in their brains. It's not fatal but it can be annoying when you suffer from them.
@Fishstixj4l Yeah. I suffer from them, I used to have epilepsy when I was a baby but I grew out of the Grand Mal seizures, now all I have left of it is the Absence ones. It sometimes leaves me with a headache after I have one. I don't reallly noticed I have one until afterwards, they usually last five seconds with me. but it is annoying especially during school near the final exams, I miss out alot because of these. :/
My niece, 16yo, was just diagnosed as being epileptic and has these from time to time. Not as long as Jordan's for the most part though. It looks like she was trying to make her mouth work but it wouldn't.
This happened to my brother yesterday, i didnt think it was a seizure at all, but when the docters said that it was it made me rethink about them...its werid but its just like how the girl was we kept calling his name but nothing, until he just snaped out of it.
i understand perfectly you little daughter...I tell you from my experience that she can not respond you till this second or minutes will not finish...I thing I know exactly how she is feeling in that moments..and ya...a person who has this type of seizure is really absent from everything is going on in that moment ...for this..they are called absent seizures ...you have a very beautiful and sweet daughter :*
i understand perfectly you little daughter...I tell you from my experience that she can not respond you till this second or minues will not finish...I thing I know exactly how she is feeling in that moments..and ya...a person who has this type of sizure is really absent from everything is going on in that moment ...for this..they are called absent sizures ...you have a verry beautifull and sweet daughter :*
She is very cute! I think my son may be having these, he seems to blank out like that but I also noticed he does odd things with his mouth and lips like it looked like your daughter was, does she do that everytime?
That is an absence seizure. I have them alot. You can hear whats going on around you or conversations but can't seem to speak for yourself. My mouth fills with salivia and its hard to swallow. Once I come out of that state, I am confused and may of forgotten what we were talking about. Scary but I would rather have these then the grandma seizures. They are very scary. I hate them.
@kunkelJess I have both too.. I didn't realize the severity of them until I looked them up on here.. ya know I just go by what my husband has said it looked like.. when I have grand mals I am out of it for a couple days..
@ThatGuyWhoSaysThings I can't believe you trust everything you see on the Internet as fact without knowing anything about it. P.S. Here's a quarter; go buy some punctuation. ( $.25)
@EnigmaV8 actually i have 3 epileptic relatives including my mom, who have absence, grand mal, and tonic clonic seizures, and absence seizures look the exact same as this, so its safe to assume i know a good deal about seizures, you dont need to automatically assume everyone on youtube is an idiot, so you can go fuck yourself, ohh yeah an "P.S." it must suck to be such a bitter asshole
@EnigmaV8 look bro all im saying is that you shouldnt automatically look at everything as if its fake or gimmicked, you definitely shouldnt believe everything either, but just dont automatically be an asshole for no reason, not trying to be a dick
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@ThatGuyWhoSaysThings EVERYTHING on the Internet is fake. Period. Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics; even if you win you're still retarded. :D
I am writing an essay at my university with the topic of funding for epilepsy. I myself have generalized idiopathic epilepsy and gran mal seizures, and I take nightly medications. I plan to create a non-profit foundation when I am older in order to assist those suffering from seizures by funding further epilepsy research and providing support groups and private financial support. I want to donate my life to improving the lives of people suffering from seizures.
@gabriel22792 i have them still ocasionally , im now 14 i had one in maths miss was standing there for about 5 seconds going sian sian sian etc. until i came round
Im only just starting to have absense seizures now.... they started in my early 20's, they seem to be getting less intense though, i could answer my friends last time it happened, i hope she gains control over it or has some help, ppl start asking questions when it happend when youre older.... it freaks them out...
Cute little girl..., Wish her all the best!, I too have the or suffer from "ABSENCE SEIZUR'S" also. it really..."Suck's" especially when you're in public and it happens, and alot of the "people" think or say?, "He' must be on DRUGS or on something else..?".
Oh my god, what an adorable little girl. I'm researching seizures jsut for personal knowledge, and it's so good to see the after, when everything is back to normal and they're smiling. She's such a cutie.
I had the same.... had them from 3 years till my 7th birthday (which was actually the worse id ever had, I ended up falling which had never happened before) after that I didnt have them again until i was 14 when I had then everyday for about 2 or 3 months then the just stopped again and I havent had one since. That was 5 years ago. Hope Jordan is like me and grows out of them.
dont get in her face, its so scary coming out of a seizure and having people in your face, especially when you cant remember them being there before hand!
i hav those all the time and they led up to 3 grand mal seizures and now after my last seizure i keep having constant ticks/twitches and dont know wut to do
well i have seizures. and its because i have a small hole in the left frontal lobe of my brain, i have behavior issues in school and its because of the hole. i have atleast 2 seizures a month. im 16 and i cant drive and i cant live a normal life untill i can go 6 months with out them. but its hard when certain things can cause them for anyone who has questions about them just ask. Have a nice day :)
i had the big seizure at the age of 14 and they freaked me out. now im 20 and i have 50sec absence ones they dont freak me out. i have 4 pill when i wake up 4 when i go two bed and im doing good =)
i have absence sezures i cry over it b/c i wounder why me ? i was idagionsed with them at age 8 i am going on 17 soon. i take 7 pills in the morning along with 7 at night alot of the sideffects towards the medincen happen to me like mood changes headaches dizzyness and lots more.i will be going for an eeg in a couple mounths to find out if they have want away or not since i havent been having any. my doctors do not belive me when i say i DO relize after i have one but believe me i can. pray4me
@Jorfapigo i can always tell right before i have one. when andbefore i get them i get a weird sensation in my brain, and it feels like im trying to remember something from a different life, but my thoughts stop working or it turns out to be a false alarm right before i can remember and i forget the sensation. it gets irritating. its different for everyone though, and mine have been changing every couple months to every year
@IrishNickO i want to have an overnight eeg and i didnt have any so i have to go back this coming march agian too see if i dont have any agian just too make sure.and if i dont then the doctor will slowy star decreasing my medician but i have to stay on it for deffently four more years atleast even if they are gone just to be safe. thank you for your prays:)
It feels like nothing happened, like you're listening to someone talk and they randomly say "Can you hear me, are you ok?" My friend used to have these.
weird. u hear what people are saying but its like u cant remember what the words mean or like you cant concentrate cuz it feels like the person is speaking too fast...and u want to talk but for some reason you cant get the words out.
PLEASE check out a great Children's book about Autism, PDD and ADHD called 'Why Is He Different?' (Please spread the word about this unique book, tell your friends and if you like you can tell me what you think about it. Big thanks!!). You can preview it on youtube profile called Monalisaknew. Just copy and paste the following sentence in youtube search window: 'Why Is He Different? (Autism Book)'
You can also buy this book on AthsePublishing(dot)com. Thank You !!
That is a weird feeling. You are in a confused state, you can hear what is going on around you but unable to respond until it is over with. When people would talk to me while I was having one, the best way I can explain it is, the words I heard were repeated over and over in my head, while I'm trying to respond the words I'm thinking are being repeated over and over on top of what I heard... A very uncomfortable feeling. Especially when you can tell you are about to have one. I was able to. :-(
I also want to say thank you. I'm a nursing student, and being able to actually see what we are reading about makes things easier to understand.

@libbybaloo do you?
Fishstixj4l 10 months ago
@Fishstixj4l Yeah. I suffer from them, I used to have epilepsy when I was a baby but I grew out of the Grand Mal seizures, now all I have left of it is the Absence ones. It sometimes leaves me with a headache after I have one. I don't reallly noticed I have one until afterwards, they usually last five seconds with me. but it is annoying especially during school near the final exams, I miss out alot because of these. :/

I know how she feels. I've been having things like this for a year now but they just barely noticed it and diagnosed me today
ShadowSNIPER585 11 months ago
My niece, 16yo, was just diagnosed as being epileptic and has these from time to time. Not as long as Jordan's for the most part though. It looks like she was trying to make her mouth work but it wouldn't.

This happened to my brother yesterday, i didnt think it was a seizure at all, but when the docters said that it was it made me rethink about them...its werid but its just like how the girl was we kept calling his name but nothing, until he just snaped out of it.

She is very cute! I think my son may be having these, he seems to blank out like that but I also noticed he does odd things with his mouth and lips like it looked like your daughter was, does she do that everytime?
littlesis626 1 year ago
That is an absence seizure. I have them alot. You can hear whats going on around you or conversations but can't seem to speak for yourself. My mouth fills with salivia and its hard to swallow. Once I come out of that state, I am confused and may of forgotten what we were talking about. Scary but I would rather have these then the grandma seizures. They are very scary. I hate them.

@kunkelJess I have both too.. I didn't realize the severity of them until I looked them up on here.. ya know I just go by what my husband has said it looked like.. when I have grand mals I am out of it for a couple days..

EnigmaV8 11 months ago
@EnigmaV8 actually i have 3 epileptic relatives including my mom, who have absence, grand mal, and tonic clonic seizures, and absence seizures look the exact same as this, so its safe to assume i know a good deal about seizures, you dont need to automatically assume everyone on youtube is an idiot, so you can go fuck yourself, ohh yeah an "P.S." it must suck to be such a bitter asshole

@ThatGuyWhoSaysThings Well then you of all people should know better. Have a nice day!

I want to donate my life to improving the lives of people suffering from seizures.

italiancutiepie100 1 year ago
How can you realize that?
As far as I know, you lose all consciousness, so you can't form any memories of the seizure.
How can you tell when you had (or when you're about to) a absence seizure?
Thanks
Jorfapigo 1 year ago
@Jorfapigo i can always tell right before i have one. when andbefore i get them i get a weird sensation in my brain, and it feels like im trying to remember something from a different life, but my thoughts stop working or it turns out to be a false alarm right before i can remember and i forget the sensation. it gets irritating. its different for everyone though, and mine have been changing every couple months to every year
ohxy1122 1 year ago
@ohxy1122 yeah it kind of feels like that for me too. Except I don't zone out like most of the examples on youtube. I actually panic big time.
