Bullwhip Cracking: wrapping and grabbing

@Dreaklock you can swing from it but it will ruin the leather and all that in the whip so unless you have enough money to buy a bunch of whips, GO CRAZY!! how they did it in the movies is they reinforced the whip by putting a steel cable inside but he only used THAT whip for the swinging scenes

@ercatschic08 at 9 thats not too young in fact I think it's just the perfect age to start whipcracking, if you learn proper form now you'll be used to doing it later on. I have seen too many adults crack a whip and I can honestly say many do suck

hey Adam, it is possible to swing on a bullwhip . I've swunng on my at least over 30 times. When you said that the fall of the whip would break, you are corect but, you only got half of the picture, the fall is more likely to break at were it is attached to, not where it is wraped around at. when your swinging on it, your weight is going to make that little slot that's cut out on that fall split, and its going to go through the fall knot.

Here's my look on it: Odds are if you try to wrap, your popper is gonna snag the said object and unless you have over 200 lbs of test for a popper, I wouldn't swing. Actually even with the physics, you need 300-400 lb test. Take off the popper and use the full leather. All in all, do not do it. DO NOT DO IT. You can, but I'd rather not see you hurt yourself... or would I? Make a vid, and remember take off the popper.

it is possible, but the fall will or break or (more likely with a nylon whip) the braid will distort and ruin the whip.

Exactly, in the movies they used a steel or rope cable that looked like a whip. At least that's what I read. Anyways, the leather won't last if you swing on it. It could even stretch and break on one swing.

One funny thing to notice in movies that use whips like Zorro and Indiana is that, after they wrap the whip somewhere to swing across a pit or something, the wrap magically "undoes" itself once they get to the other side.

Well, if the wrap was strong enough to hold their weight while swinging, why would it simply let go once they get to the other side?!

Do notice this, it's funny.

probley thats why they are just loosening the wrap up when they swing and so when they land it lets go when they tug or something.

It is physically impossible to loosen the wrap while swinging! it's when it'll have full tension applied to it (the person's full weight is gonna be pulling it).

to wrap and grab it I mean, also that pole is to damn slipery, the best wraps and grabs are done on a tree, and the groves from the bark act like sand paperand gives the fall friction.
