@DragonWagon6 Yeah, its been that way for like 2 years now. When I was making the install, I didn't have enough time to do it exactly how I wanted and I just never got around to redoing it. I'm redoing the sub box, but it will still be sealed. There's a vent from the trunk to the cabin.
I usually have the rears faded down, so I'm not too concerned with them being distorted. I'm also redoing tweeter mounts for the front a-pillars.
hi i wanted to know if the sub could be played to a high level when its new. Mostly i wanted to know why my sub has soo much excurtion but not giving very loud sound same sub sr124-dvc.
try playing and song from Metallica from the ...And justic for all CD. just might put a hurting to your system. 1988 Metallica jumped on the "Thump" band wagon with this album. give it a try
Wish I had the money to hook my car up with all polk with a nice pioneer head. Buddy of mine has basically the same shit as you and it sounds awesome, camcorders don't give shit props to the sound system. In real life it sounds so fantastic.
it shows a big polk MOMO sub box at the beginning with all the boxes but i dont see a polk MOMO sub anywhere but anyways love it man i bet it sounds a million times better in person too =]
Hey bro thanks for the comment and nice setup btw if i already havent comment on ur stuff. i love my sr setup and since then ive mounted the amp ran better wireing finaly hooked up the bass knob and retuned the amp after the sub seemed broken in and ive got some new videos that il be putting up in a little bit. i also bought those momo components but im still waiting on getting a kicker 650x4 or the new polk 4ch that just came out whichever i go with im sure il be extremely pleased.
Hey also I have a question about installing the momo components to my 4ch the crossover has a dual and single imput switch 2 pos 2 neg in and 2 pos and 2 neg out how do i go about installing that to my 4ch. ive installed the dbs before and there crossovers arent the same. thanks and btw ur srs are minty fresh
kickpanels are a very popular location for a component set in SQ cars. There's still room for people to sit comfortably without hitting them.
It doesn't really matter in my case, because I don't have those kickpanels or components anymore. I've upgraded to the SR6500 a few months ago and fiberglassed them into my doors. I'll try and get a video up tonight.
Thanks man. The SR subs are amazing. I wouldn't consider any car audio product an investment because you'll always end up loosing money if you try and sell it, but they're definitely a good buy and well worth the money imo.
Well, I do like bass in my music. Obviously not to the extent that it completely drowns out all the music. I built this system with my goal being SQ. It just so happens that it can also play moderately loud.
I'm with you Traxtitan All of these kids think they have an awesome system only because you can hear the bass from 18 miles away. You know...I want to hear that one little tiny note that all you kids can't hear because you have nothing but bass. You kids should learn about SPL (sound pressure level) through SQ (sound quality).
Who cares if it has tons of base? Only stupid little kids care if it's pumping out a ton of base. Listen to the song the way it was suppose to be made. Bass being cranked up 24/7 for every song is the sign of an idiot who knows nothing about equipment or music. Good setup, work on some molding and people will be coming to you to get their stuff done.
I've molded my new SR components to the doors. It was my first time doing something like that, but i still think it turned out pretty decent. I'll post a video after I'm done making everything look pretty.
nah, they've got a decent amount of power and they can push a decent amount of air. If you wanna see them move fwd to 3:45. They sound like they're "cracking" because I used a crappy camera and the mic isn't all that great.
Nice, I have the Polk MMC5250's in my front door in my E39 and Polk MMC525's on my rear deck powered off an Alpine MRP F600. Originally I was going to go with the Polk SR subs, but each one I received had bad terminals. It as weird but I still love Polk Audio.
sick subs......i had 2 12 that i got at tweeter before they closed down.....worked for about 3 months and then i broke them with a 1600 x-file audio amp....now i got 2 10 inch memphis subs and there still workin
I'm a big fan of those momo components. They're not quite as nice as the SR line, but they have great midbass and good highs. For the price, you definitely can't go wrong. Polk will be releasing their new Mobile Monitor (MM) line soon which will be replacing the MOMO line, so keep a lookout for them!
Well like I said in the description... These clips are a bit old and I was still building my system. Those tweeters were mounted into the kicks when I finished everything. The reason I have kick panels is b/c those speakers don't fit in my door without any fabrication.
I'm redoing everything this summer, though. SR drivers will be in the doors and the tweeters in the a-pillars. It should be a lot of fun!
I am currently using a pair of 10" Polk/Momo woofers, facing the cabin, just like your set-up. I am considering to upgrade to the SR series; I am between those (the ones you have) or the old-school stroker 12D from Cerwin Vega. What do you think? They both need about the same rms power. How many watts are yuou putting into yours? Open to new suggestions. Anyone? Thanks.
Thanks. I really love my SR subs. They might be a bit pricey but they sound so tight and clean. Its probably the most accurate sub I've listened to. I haven't heard the 12D. I'm giving my subs 500 watts each, but once I add my other amps this summer, it'll be up to 700 watts per woofer. I would recommend that you listen to as many subs in the price range you're looking at, and let your ears be the judge!
btw it sounds great! I just picked up 2 pair of the polk momo 6.5 component speakers today at frys on clearance for 90 bucks a pair when they retail for 350! i couldnt resist the impulse buy. it was cheaper than i get them at circuit city. im debating weather i want to put them in my jetta or wait untill i sell it and put everything in my new car. i have the sr posted up if anyone wants to see it. ive since cleaned up my install. im probably going to get the new 08 kicker 650.4 to complete them.
o ya and dont get the polk 500.1 the new PA amps by polk seem solid but their are better amps for the money...Arc audio, Audison, Tru, Helix, Zapco, Genesis, Focal...okay so some of these are ridiculously expensive but the 500.1 is not enough juice for a woofer like this. However the SR speakers and subs are best for the money without a doubt...if anyone disagrees with me...call me 4076660798...my SQ set up will own peoples costing 3K - 4K ....IASCA competitors, this offer is not open to you.lol
I have 3 C500.1's now. In the video, each sub was powered with 500 watts. Now its just over 600. I will be upgrading to the new PA amps hopefully by next summer. I want the PA1200.1 powering each sub, so each woofer will be pushed with 800 watts. And I'll hopefully also pick up 2 PA500.4 for the SR6500's, centre channel, and rear speakers. Zapco, Focal and Audison make amazing gear as well, but I'm a loyal Polk customer... even with Home audio. They have excellent products and customer support.
Nice. Im working my way towards that right now. Not sure the #s but i am getting the compents here pretty soon and i have the 6 x 9 Polk/momos and i am now working towards the subs. I have a 3000gt and im gana make a fiberglass enclosure for them but im not sure weather to get the Sound refenece or just the Polk/momo Subs...any sugestions??? and how do u like yours...they look pretty kick ass
First of all, very nice car! I love the mitsu 3000gt. I had a momo sub and I liked it very much. It performs amazing for the price. When I say "perfom", i mean it sounds really good. I'm a huge fan of SQ. If you're looking for something to crack the pavement, you're better off getting an SPL sub like RE or something. I'm in love with my SR subs. Every time they pound, its like someone is kicking my seat from behind! They let off SUCH clean bass. I just need a processor to blend them in nicely.
well first all its the SR signiture reference. The SR subwoofer is amazingly clean and clear...comparable to a JL W6...a very nice SQ subwoofer as well. I have 1 SR 12 with a Zapco Ref. 750.2 bridged making about 800 watts and with 2 MOMO 8s. Trust me all you need is 1 SR 12 set up correctly (Box with 1.2 cubic feet after 1 gallon of fiberglass is added inside for reinforcements.) and dont skimp on amplification either.
i meant to say i used to have 2 momo 8s which were nice but tended to sound a bit boomy. MOMO subs are great economy SQ subs which but still you cant compare to the SR.
I also have the SR6500 Speakers (INCREDIBLE SQ SPEAKERS) with a Zapco Ref 350.2. I owned the MOMO6500 but the SR6500 are in a different league. ...iv got my momo6500 sitting in my garage now because i "needed" ultimate SQ...you wont get better for the money garenteed. Iv compared them to a guys Diamond audio HP650 ($1300) and these walk them as far as dynamics, clarity, and neutrality. O and make sure you aim the SR subs toward the trunk because you wont get full output and SQ from them.
sorry ahmed that was directed toward Woodchuck...ya the momo subs have nice bass but the SR is so clean and the frequency curve is so flat plays every note accurately unlike the momo which tend to be a little boomy for my taste.
Yeah, the SR6500 are amazing speakers. The tweeters are exceptionally smooth and the driver gives off great midbass. Although I really like Polk's MOMO line, it simply doesn't compare to their SR line. Theres quite a noticeable difference which is well worth the price difference imo. Anything I say about the SR subs will be an understatement - seriously, you just need to hear them to believe it. They're so clean, so accurate... so perfect!
like i said in the description, my install wasn't completely finished when these clips were made. I was thinking between putting the tweeters in the a-pillars and i didn't want to drill a hole in the kicks for nothing. But eventually i decided to put them in the kicks, so i drilled the holes and now they enjoy their new home :)
Awesome yea I love my car too but right now its in the shop. Im not really looking for sumthing pound everythign around me just me and my car :D later on I am gana make a car for that but this car is my everyday driver so i want sumthign that sounds nice
dont buy more amps man, get a new HO alternator or else you will fry all of your amps from undervoltage. and any caps that you have, throw them out because it kills your electrical system completely

dont buy more amps man, get a new HO alternator or else you will fry all of your amps from undervoltage. and any caps that you have, throw them out because it kills your electrical system completely

Actually, I already bought a HO alternator... just gotta find the time to install it :)
I need at least 2 new amps b/c I want to bi-amp the sr6500s and provide the subs with their rated power.
