No gender roles in marriage? Hmmm go ask your mother and father and your grandparents...Such stupidity, no wonder the rest of the world is overtaking us:(
Not at all. Yes there are many parents that are single parents. But to say the kids don't benefit from having both a mother and father is just plain stupid! That kids CAN grow up pretty much normal is due to the resilency of human beings and NOT because it is the preferred way!
Such stone age thinking from this guy. Apparently, he believes women should be in the kitchen and pregnant (not necessarily bare foot, though)...What a jerk.
He suggested Judith Wallerstein, who did studies of how divorce affected children. Gay parents are not the same thing as 2 parents already raising a child, and then getting a divorce. His second suggested writer was David Blankenhorn, who wrote 2 books and testified on behalf of polygamy. In his testimony he said “I believe that adopting same-sex marriage would be likely to improve the well-being of gay and lesbian households and their children."
Brian is so confused. Nobody says men and women aren't different. What we say, (and what the judge said in California) is there are NO gender roles in marriage or parenting recognized by state law (other than Prop 8 and similar limitations). That's obvious or they wouldn't need limitations. The only data he uses is about single and divorced straight mothers. That tells us nothing about loving pairs of lesbian mothers, married or otherwise. Note: we don't remove children from single moms.
There are many - MANY - single, straight parents out there who have happy, healthy children. They work, and they support their children just like any other parent. It's not your genitals but who you are inside that makes a person a parent. Like it says, anyone can father a child, but it takes someone special to be a "daddy". Two men, two women, combinations and multiples... Isn't just supposed to be who can love that child best? Not what they have between their legs??
Even his own examples are self-admitted generalisations. He gives no actual basis for his reasoning at all. Blankenhorn is a really stupid person to cite. He testified during the Prop8 trial. He was supposed to support the ban but ended up supporting gay marriage (on the basis that kids need 2 parents, again pretty stupid nonsense as millions of kids of single-parents would testify) and even then his 'expertise' on familial structure was dismissed by the Judge as unsupported.
"This is basically..." my prejudice and ignorance. Imagine someone so full of hate and fear that they dedicate their lives to touring the country, promoting inequality through falsehoods and scare tactics. Oh brian, I'm sure you're really nurturing, when you're not hate-mongering. Which is never. You fat queen.

All studies show the two main components children need is love and stability. Who they are raised by is simply normal to them whether a mother/father, single parent, Aunt or Uncle, same gender parents, adopted parents, grandparents etc. No shit men and women are different, however that is no argument against same gender child-rearing.
his logic does not add up. he generalizes that only one man and one woman can raise a child. And then in the same breath says he can't specifically generalize because there are so many different types of people. He answered his own question.
I wonder what "sources" he's referring to. And if both parents can do their job then who cares what gender they are? Kids these days need a loving and constructive family more than ever, not red tape.
This guy is an idiot!

Like what? Oh I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn't mean to do that, please, continue. You were saying something about research?
Oh, you were finished? Well allow me to retort.

Men can't nurture?
What the hell was my dad doing for the past 19 years, then? Stand in front of a crowd of dedicated fathers and repeat that, you ignorant half-wit.

By this argument, if the woman dies in child-birth, the man should just give up raising the child. Mr. Brown = fail.

Can he quote a single peer reviewed study proving his point? No he can’t. There is not one peer reviewed study supporting his point.
There have been a dozen studies showing gay families are as good and even better in some circumstances.
NOM is nothing more than a bigoted hate group basing their claims on lies.
