His second suggested writer was David Blankenhorn, who wrote 2 books and testified on behalf of polygamy. Brian is so confused. Nobody says men and women aren't different. What we say, (and what the judge said in California) is there are NO gender roles in marriage or parenting recognized by state law (other than Prop 8 and similar limitations). That's obvious or they wouldn't need limitations. The only data he uses is about single and divorced straight mothers. That tells us nothing about loving pairs of lesbian mothers, married or otherwise. Note: we don't remove children from single moms.

There are many - MANY - single, straight parents out there who have happy, healthy children. They work, and they support their children just like any other parent. It's not your genitals but who you are inside that makes a person a parent. Like it says, anyone can father a child, but it takes someone special to be a "daddy". Two men, two women, combinations and multiples... Isn't just supposed to be who can love that child best? Not what they have between their legs??

Even his own examples are self-admitted generalisations. He gives no actual basis for his reasoning at all. Blankenhorn is a really stupid person to cite. He testified during the Prop8 trial. He was supposed to support the ban but ended up supporting gay marriage (on the basis that kids need 2 parents, again pretty stupid nonsense as millions of kids of single-parents would testify) and even then his 'expertise' on familial structure was dismissed by the Judge as unsupported.

All studies show the two main components children need is love and stability. Who they are raised by is simply normal to them whether a mother/father, single parent, Aunt or Uncle, same gender parents, adopted parents, grandparents etc. No shit men and women are different, however that is no argument against same gender child-rearing.
