  • normally you can judge a painter by how much paint he puts on himself and his clothes and smoothness in the brush strokes and steady hands in the rolling..not a fan of painters that paint and makes a mess

  • what kind of paint? is this a primer? do we have to watch several videos to find out .....

  • lmao, sooo longg man,get a real roller, tube of caulk n keepr on the hinge...or spray the cunts saves mad time better finish..if dun rite

  • Why not just dunk your whole hand in the paint and smear the crap on the door?? Whats with the 1970's roller ??

  • damn bum ............im faster with just a brush and i was priming a bare oak door lol

  • I think this is a remarkable video. I don't do alot of painting and have always had problems painting panel doors. Very nice and you are quick too! Thank you for taking the time to make this video it is greatly appreciated.

  • fuck youre slow too

  • thats a shit roller buddy, use a whizz roller

  • Nice job,

I paint doors like this all the time. I use a 4 inch mini roller though, much faster but all the pros including myself in my area use the exact technique. Spraying would be ideal but the time it takes is not always consistant with time constraints. It should only take about 15 minutes a side for a door including any caulking. Nice work, glad to see the technique demonstrated. Speed comes with experience.

  • We always use a nine..Then tip it out!!Cool vid!!

  • I'm getting ready to paint a bedroom 4 panel closet door today .. do I have to sand it down first ? .. I keep reading about sanding .. not sure what to do

  • @steelermia Any painting you do, the surface always needs to be prepped, Sanding is a must.

  • Very helpful video! Thanks a lot.

  • i would just toss a bunch of paint on there from the brush and paint halfs on that door...

  • I could have done it in half the time without that faggot roller shyt and just a 4 inch brush.

  • WOW !!!!!

  • 21 doors glossed in a couple of hours ? you must be joking , or your clients settle for a verty poor job . can't bullshit us like that

  • spray that son of a bitch|!

  • Thanks for posting this....

  • what a joke. if i seen somebody go near a panel door with roller i would hunt them for their life.what a cowboy!!!

  • Excellent Prowall!!!! I approach doors as you do as well.

I hired some guys on a job I had to redo because they worked to slow and left brush marks all over the place. Latex paints set fast and u need to work fast. Thanks for the Video post.

  • How much do you charge ?

  • How much do I charge, or how much should you charge? ;-)

    I charge plenty enough.

  • good work. nice to see another leftie. have you tried the wooster pelican? i use it all the time saves switching between tray and kettle.

  • I havent rolled or brushed a door in years. Its wayyyyyyy faster to grab an airless and spray it.

  • i hate to say it but your better off just brushing it all without the small roller. or if anything its the same amount of time between all the switching and stuff :)

  • I detest to say this, but only brushing would require more dipping, enjoy the work-out, I prefer working out at the gym.

  • Thanks "Bishopking" for your post. I laughed for about 5 minutes straight !!!

I don't doubt this guy is a good Painter for one minute, but WAY too much moving around for just one door.

p.s. Answer the phone ! its me telling you to Change the station ! lol - J/K

  • i would charge 50 bucks a door if i had to do it like that

  • I charge a lot more than $50 a door...

  • Check out the heavy metal in the background.

  • I explained earlier why I dont brush them out after I roll them, if they were smooth i'd roll then brush em, but theres no point when they have been badly factory finished using a spray

Most of our paints in the UK are stil oil based , so the paint has a little longer to flow out, unlike water based/acrylic which dries quickly.

So jas3n, thats the reason, 32 years in the trade as a painter by the way, probably not a 'pro' in your eyes, but then again who gives a flying fuck what you think.

  • dont feel bad prowallguy I am a profesional painter (I paint for a living) and I paint doors exactly the same way these guys are idiots who cant paint thats why they say roll them dont lay them off they arent pros and peckhamexile id love to see that video to

  • I for one am pretty impressed with the video. I don't think that anyone can fault someone for brushing a door in 7 minutes. Give me a break. I respect the fact that you took the time to post the video. Thanks

  • What type of paint? Gloss, Semi, Matt?

  • Im with you on that one..but the orange peel stipple we have on some of the factory finished doors over here makes brushing it out again a pointless exercise.

One thin I really hate though, is a combination of the two, brush marks over roller stipple and vice versa.

Do you use oil or water based paints on the trim?..its mostly oil here, our water based trim paints have a hell of a way to go yet to match oil.

  • You obviously know what your doing techniqie wise..If I could ever work out how to make and post one I would..I cant see the point of rolling those panels and then brushing them again..why dont you just brush them once? Also I dont lay the doors off after I have rolled them because the pre primed doors here have an 'orange peel' from the factory spraying..I just use a shorted pile roller.

  • I roll them first to lay on a consistent coat of paint quickly. I find it quicker like that than dipping the brush over and over. Also here in the U.S., most customers don't want to see a roller stipple on trim, it needs to be brushed out. I'd love to be able to just roll them and walk, but it wouldn't fly with my customers.

  • @prowallguy one good brush load can cover a panel ..... do you tap the side of the can or wipe the paint off on the edge????? ....

  • Dont any of you guys paint the edges of the doors first?

  • Yeah, actually on the painting forum I posted this for, I explained that I had removed the hardware and painted the edge before I set up the camera.

  • I use a brush and roller on doors like that but do it differently..

    Cut in four top panels

Roll top 4 panels then muntin, top rail, transom, and styles

Down to the floor..cut in panels, roll rest of the muntins, lock rail, bottom rail styles..

    Finish with the panels

    4 minutes max

  • I'd love to see a video of a 4 minute door. Feel free to post one up.

  • Your both losers. Until you post a video, you can blow me.

  • i totally agree, people like you discust me, the time it takes you and your method to do one side of a door is disgraceful! people like you should be out of buisness, your a ripoff! you shouldn't be posting vidio's, you useless. by the way, your "brush skills" and "more brush skills" video's, haha what a joke! if you had any brush skills you would use a 4 or 3" brush twice as fast and a lot better job! go back to your hole, learn to paint!

  • It is a 3" brush, and at least I know how to spell. So, until you losers post a video, blow me. And if you comment again without backing up your lame jabs with video proof, I'll just block your ass from viewing my videos.

  • You're obviously not a painter. So if you like to talk smack, then put up or shut up. Let's see you paint one. Until then, 3M TA3.

  • dude how are you making money!!!
