thankyou for this i am 47 years old and think about it often it was so bloody scary and its great to know many people thought the same the dwarf was made for nightmares
I really love this one. Thanks for being there singing ringing tree. Up the blues. Down the midgets. Am I allowed to say midget? Oh well I've said it now. How is everyone?
For the past 39 years my sleep has been haunted by images of dwarfs, bridges, bears, goldfishes and fires and over dubbed narratives. At last I can make sense of it!
I don't know about you but this giant goldfish and the dwarf scared me silly watching this as a kid. The BBC put loads of these dubbed European tv shows on in the mid 70's.
I remember this as being in Black and white - first time I've seen it in colour - and wondered what had happened, then realised that we had a black and white tv in those days!
This is an old children's piece of film from a time when geniuses of the media world would teach our children with good moral education that parents could trust - it might be German or Eastern European, and they may also have been biosed against aging, ginger haired midgets but all the same the child is taught to attract inner beauty via good outwardly deeds. Nice model of the fish too - a golden age of the media! :) Jx
Yep i remeber this from the early seventies - along with Golden Hair and that freaky version of Beauty and the beast - but the original is in Czech right?
I am looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film shown on British TV , 1968ish - 1974ish A dress or wedding dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom or parlour, she is sitting on a sofa in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress or wedding dress, in the tall case "not to open the case" .
But the girl does secretly, behind the old lady, - the dress dramatically falls to pieces
This used to scare the living daylights out of me when I was little. The dwarf was horrible. Can't believe I have found this clip, if I rememeber the tree only appeared rarely. I remember it in black and white too. Took me back to coming home from school, watching this in front of a roaring fire, waiting for my tea...
What?! This is in colour. I never missed a b&W episode of this all those many years ago. And to think I thought the bear wasa real bear- well, I was 15 at the time?
I have faint memories of this, but had no idea what it was called. That dwarf was scary! Thanks for the upload, glad to know this was a real programme, and not just a weird dream! lol
The budget for this had to be all of at least 3 quid, 10 and sixpence ha'penny ... even then thta was frugal!! 2:11 has to be an unintentional prescient 'shape of things to come' moment - seas full of solid crud, mutant fish that can understand post-war German actors & enjoy love ... a man dressed up (in a badly fitting costume) as a smallish philosophizing Fozzy Bear and a princess who indulges in a rather weird make over courtesy of a constantly annoyed/frustrated dwarf. Such happy days
I have been looking for a clip of this TV show for years on youtube. As a child, it fascinated and scared me in equal measures. The dwarf flying about always used to freak me out! Thanks so much for the upload.
I bought this from amazon, I have watched it three times so far.....loved it as a small child and still do!

I'm 50 now and I still hate that dwarf. Although if I seen him on street I'd throw a stick at him and run away. He's soooo bloody scary..!!

Oh my god. I thought all my mental problems were due to a repressed memory about being sexually abused as a child. Turns out I wasn't. IT WAS THIS!!!

It's just not the same in beautiful crisp garish colour - it should be fuzzy monochrome 405 lines for true nostalgia. :)

Holy crap! A vague memory of terror softened only slightly by colour. The exorcist et al has nothing on this.

Looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film where a wedding dress features.
I have tried to find out what this scene was for over 30 years. A wedding dress in a tall glass case in a corner of a Victorian
old ladies room, she is sitting on a sofa and warns a young girl who is admiring the wedding dress, not to open the case .
But the girl does behind the old lady, and when the air gets inside the dress falls to pieces..
It is NOT Mrs Haversham in David Copperfied

@pipdoodler They dont make 15 year olds like you anymore. You thought the bear was real!!!!!!! Most 15 year olds to-day are raising a family.
