That was quite nifty... It was interesting to see the theremin in a band environment (though I should have known it'd sound great from your other videos!).
Just terrific. i hope one day i can incorporate a theremin into band as beautiful as this. nice work to you all. any idea if you will be releasing a cd in the future? i would like to get a copy
@paulhab12 Thank you. Unfortunately, Adrian Hester Group has dispanded, and a CD that the guy was going to release was canceled. However, theres a couple of mp3s that I own the copyrights to that the band produced at my web site.
It looks like Pamelia is using here left hand for pitch and right hand for the volume. Which one is the proper way of playing the Theremin, lefty or righty?
@dvamateur Theremins are designed to be played with the dominant hand rather than the way conventional instruments are due to the difficulty involving the theremin.
So, if you're a lefty, you might want to play with the pitch rod on your left. If right handed, then you play the pitch rod on your right side.
However, it's also a matter of personal preference, and comfort. Some violinists will play the theremin with thier left hand as they would with a violin. :)
@ThomasGrillo But you see, what I was referring to, and what I was getting at is which Theremin setup would be a standard setup? Righty or lefty? In the same sense, that most guitars are righty, and one who learned guitar in music school will always play the guitar as righty, regardless of being lefty or righty in other things. And all lefties guitar players are definitely self thought. By the way, can the same theremin be setup both ways to transition between lefty and righty?
@dvamateur Most theremins are manufactured for right handed play. However, some manufacturers will let you custom order a lefty theremin. Most theremins are designed so that if you're left handed, you can simply turn the theremin around for left handed play.
In general, the theremin is designed for the dominent hand to work the pitch side.
If there is one thing I've noticed in your videos, it's that you answer pretty much every single one of your comments and for that I applaud you. What better way to make fans than to talk to them personally right? Oh and great job with the song, it sounded fantastic!
@mattovision It can be, if the thereminist does not take into account the moving performers on a stage, and forgets to warn them, or sets up the theremin on the tuning peg side of the guitarists. :)
Never saw the theremin as much of a viable instrument in a group. You make it fit pretty well I think. I really enjoyed the song. Good job Mr. Grillo et al!
I didn't like jazz all that much not too long ago but I'm glad I got into it in time to really enjoy this. nice instrument choices by the way, it's always nice to see something out of the regular.

That's got to be a tough gig with an instrument so difficult to tame.
