Certainly by the McCoy era, I don't feel the kind of awe, wonder and mystery I feel when watching something like "Deadly Assassin." I feel the same about the new show. They don't have the time to develop the story arcs with the new format, and they just aren't as engaging.
Both Tennant and the show are a bit too over the top for my tastes, too self-consciously 'clever.' They need to stop poking fun at the old show and focusing on romance. If Tennant could just hold back a bit, I'd watch more.
The new Doctor Who is become more pantomime than it ever had. The Sylvester Mccoy eror is one of my favorites, it's sad to think that they gave poor Sylvester a hard time god people and fans back then were such pricks. The new Doctor David Tennant is awrful, and yet everyone loves him. For fucks sake he's one of the worst Doctors in history he over acts. Catherine Tate and David together is a very dangerous combination.
I have seen every single transmitted episode of Doctor Who as well and I loved all of the doctors, including the much-hated Colin Baker, but I do agree that the JNT-era was of a generally lesser-quality than that of the previous doctors. Sylvester McCoy was my least favorite and if you claim that Tennant's character is "overacting" whereas it's simply a unique portrayal, then you can say that McCoy did the same. It's just different takes on 'eccentricity'
Don't get me wrong, I loved Colin Baker, he's just the least fan-loved doctor of them all, you can't go very far on a popular forum such as Outpost Gallifrey without finding some sort of Colin Baker-bashing.
I'm glad someone has sense in this world. I was over moon when I first found out on the series' return, now I believe in the phrase; "Be careful what you wish for."

c. 'Eccentricity' is such an obvious thing to say.
d.Duh, ALL the Doctors bring a unique part to the role.

e.Ecentricity isn't just ranting and pulling your face. David Tennant is sappy!
And finally,
f. 'I have seen every single transmitted episode of Doctor Who' - erm, good for you?
