  • so let me get this straight beethoven made the music then centuries later people found his notes and remade it?

  • Does anyone else feel utterly and hopelessly confused when listening to this? I don't understand this feeling.

  • This is the most beautiful classic music I have ever heard.

  • I hope they're able to bottle music like this up and send it away into space before we completely destroy the planet and render it uninhabitable. Then maybe some civilization light-years away will be able to enjoy Beethoven and then puzzle over the pitiful, self- destructive creatures who, despite everything, were once able to create music so beautiful.....

  • only 18,000 views. :( disappointing.

  • Beethoven was plagued with severe manic-depressive disorder and regularly used opium and alcohol to treat the disorder. These were the only two drugs available at the time for those so-afflicted. Heavy use of opium (narcotics) has been linked to loss of hearing in otherwise healthy individuals, as was the case with Rush Limbaugh.

  • One of the most moving pieces of music I've ever heard..so many emotions seem to fly through my head when I listen to it.

    RIP

  • Thus he was. Thus he died. Thus he shall live forever in our hearts.

  • I Part 3¡¡¡¡

  • for those of you who don't know, this is part of his 3rd symphony, in case you want to (and i bet you do) listen to the whole thing

  • @plagueofangels666 They should, Eroica is an unbelievable master-piece.

  • God! This is the most amazing piece of Beethoven's that I've ever heard !! (so far)

  • im deleting every song off my ipod and only add this one and i'll have the reapear on all day long.

  • What a curse, to make such beautiful awe inspiring music. But never be able to hear it, sure he could read his paper but I don't think that could ever compare to the beauty of his music it's self.

  • @hnrksl

He didn't hear his music being performed, but I'm pretty sure he heard it in his mind. Music is created in your mind, not ears. Fortunately :)

  • @LukS626 True.

  • @LukS626

He didn't hear his music being performed, but I'm pretty sure he sensed it as the same as you hear by ears. Music is created in his mind, not ears at that time. God's work!

  • @hnrksl by the time this was written he still wasn't deaf. he became deaf when he was 29 years old

  • so.... beautiful... *cries*

  • 1:50 - keeping a soul.

  • "Space, Above & Beyond" used this piece in the Angriest Angel episode. Its amazing what tunes you in to the classics :)

  • I understand this was written for the Emperor Napoleon and was played at his funeral. Surely there can be no better window into the history and sentiments of the time (in much of Europe, anyway).

  • @mozgren it was dedicated to Napoleon until he crowned himself emperor. On hearing this news, Beethoven scratched out the original dedication so violently as to leave a hole in the page.

  • lol idk what that metal kid is thinking, i love metallica and i love guitar playing as well

but if you truly know your guitar you would know that any metal scale you play comes down to classical music, all metal is, is classical music shortened, played with different instruments

its the same thing but with a modern slight to it....i love listening to this because i hear this in metal all day every day

  • @metallica4ev you're right about metal being similar to classical, but really all music stems from classical music. it may not sound like it but it is.

  • @MortiisFaust For you to say this is true music and that the garbage of today isn't music shows your lack of appreciation for music as a whole. This is the first time I have heard this piece and love it. But the origin of this music is not forgotten. These works were created for opera, which at the time was the popular thing. It was used to promote ideas, politics, and for people to press their opinions. Though I may not care for the music of Lady Gaga, I understand it, and I respect it

  • @dkc14456 You are right,I don't appreciate music as a whole because some music is just filth.Classical is the least corrupting when you compare it to rap and even metal.I get what your saying and I also understand other music and respect it,I don't respect all of it but thats just me.

  • @MortiisFaust 'Classical is the least corrupting...', I couldn't agree with you more. Classical music is the purest and highest genre of music exactly because it is free of politically or ideologically infested lyrics (not to mention pop filth nowadays which is packed with curse words and whatnots). It is an art made for one purpose only, uplift human spirit with utmost passionate expression of composer's (even universal) feelings through wonderful melodies and harmonies. It is ars gratia artis.

  • @Dodo251 You, my friend, has put it way better than I could ever do. I share exactly the same sentiments. Most forms of "art" nowadays are becoming more sensationalistic and less intellectualizable in that they have been permeated with themes that evince an aberration of the soul's desire to emotionally and cognitively understand the parallels, stories, history and emotions of an art. Art now is more mass-oriented and mono-dimensional, appeasing only the senses but not assuaging the mind.

  • @creamie123 Thank you! You made a great observation as well!

  • @dkc14456 this wasn't written for an opera, it was written for a symphony, a form which wasn't as popular as opera.

Though I may not care for the music of Lady Gaga, I understand it, and I respect it.

  • Immortalized through his music.

  • @Razersun If you are a metal head you just made us look bad you dip shit.I LOVE metal, but I also love classical more. This music is very talented and has been around longer than you can comprehend you inconsiderate shit.

  • Dodo, what could I do to find the copy right for this?

  • Now I see what serenade and adagio for strings were inspired by.

  • @whythewar1 Also, Strauss' great Metamorphosen quotes it directly...

  • For one final touch press the ball.

  • @drugnidzo Press the ball? What does that mean.

  • @Evilcrushing About a year or so, during the world football cup, there was a small ball you could click on beneath the video and those vuvuzela things sounded off.
