If there was no God, there would be no soul, no afterlife, no real love, hate, good, evil or crime itself because all these have no scientific meanings. If one biochemical reaction tells you "I want sex with this hot girl" and another tells you, "no, she is married"; where is the "you" derived that is really choosing one or the other with free-will of choice? What Richard fails to realize is that "definition" is useful, but it also sets up duality and ultimately misses the truth altogether. One may use science to test, however to suggest that this test or series of tests disproves God is ridiculous. There isn't a contradiction in those two statements. The fact we observe order, systems and functions points to an intelligent/mind/conscious source behind it all. Realizing humanity knows very little should make you less certain about saying there is no God and intelligent source to intelligence and order. No one knows exactly how life started but it is more rational to think some form of intelligence was involved than to think it arose without an underlying intelligent source.
Atheists don't say there is no god. Positive claims are the realm of theists. It is quite different to LACK belief because no evidence has been presented.

Acknowledging there is order is a far cry from attributing that order to a sky pixie. Within any given system, constant predictive patterns can be extrapolated. Chalking them up to an invisible being for which there is no empirical evidence is hateful to science and common sense.
A pixie is a finite form, no one who believes that God is Spirit would limit the consciousness and spirit of God to a finite form, that is just an ignorant innuendo. Just because science can't yet measure or grasp God physically does not disprove God. The order, systems and consciousness we are and see is evidence of an originating higher source of consciousness to life very clearly, albeit in another dimension and not physical. Using your logic you observe biological changes in organisms and there is some skeletal similarity between old animals in the ground and assume each and every biological creature evolved from a single cell in a soup. The big bang is one theory which not all scientists agree upon, even atheists, so you can in no way claim to know based on that. A singularity has infinite mass and space-time curvature; Im not sure why you think that mass within a singularity is impossible?
In the initial singularity when there was only pure energy and the potentiality of all the laws of order and function there was no mass, time or space only infinite energy. If there was no God, there would be no soul, no afterlife, no real love, hate, good, evil or crime itself because all these have no scientific meanings. Morality would be no more than an illusion of opinion and self-awareness and consciousness as an individual with freewill without a soul would be no more than biological chemical delusions. Science can discover what we are but never inform us of who we are. Are we made in God's image or evolution's freak of nature?

What Richard fails to realize is that "definition" is useful, but it also sets up duality and ultimately misses the truth altogether. One may use science to test, however to suggest that this test or series of tests disproves God is ridiculous. If the definition of "God" is an omnipresence or consciousness that exists simultaneously everywhere, then what ever science actually proves can only prove the existence of "God".

Second: The story you used is inconsistent. To paraphrase, you say "An atheist would still believe in God if he came down to him' An atheist does NOT believe in god... basic basic basic. Consider proof reading your argument instead of hurrying into a defensive insult.

As I was just saying, religion doesn't subject itself to revision because it's about already knowing the truth. Sure, new interpretations and denominations spring up but they're still bound to the same old holy books.

My life is significant because I'm doing thins to help the progress of humanity. Because I love my family and my girlfriend. It's significant because I think it's the only life I'll get and that makes my time here very valuable because once I'm dead I believe that's it.

I can see why Dawkins anti-fans accuse him of being all about the money and arrogant. When you misunderstand something, you tend to compare it to the devil you know best: your religious leaders. Being a professor is a real job. He isn't arrogant, only frustrated; you think that because he is smarter than you. If evolution were proven to be wrong, or even less possible than another theory, Dawkins would be the FIRST to cast evolution aside. That's integrity, something religious leaders can't do.

There isn't a contradiction in those two statements. The fact we observe order, systems and functions points to an intelligent/mind/conscious source behind it all. Realizing humanity knows very little should make you less certain about saying there is no God and intelligent source to intelligence and order. No one knows exactly how life started but it is more rational to think some form of intelligence was involved than to think it arose without an underlying intelligent source.

God shouldn't be reduced to some physiological mythical creature. Gods nature is clearly described as being Spirit, which is not a flying dragon or monster or fairy, the compared innuendo is made through lack of investigation.
We are talking about an intangible conscious intelligence being the source of our intangible consciousness and all order, mechanisms, systems and functions.
It stands to reason that functions, mechanisms and order has an intelligent source and origin.

Acknowledging there is order is a far cry from attributing that order to a sky pixie. Within any given system, constant predictive patterns can be extrapolated. Chalking them up to an invisible being for which there is no empirical evidence is hateful to science and common sense.

A pixie is a finite form, no one who believes that God is Spirit would limit the consciousness and spirit of God to a finite form, that is just an ignorant innuendo. Just because science can't yet measure or grasp God physically does not disprove God. The order, systems and consciousness we are and see is evidence of an originating higher source of consciousness to life very clearly, albeit in another dimension and not physical. Science should not rule things out based on ignorance.

Using your logic you observe biological changes in organisms and there is some skeletal similarity between old animals in the ground and assume each and every biological creature evolved from a single cell in a soup. And that began somehow, but it had to have began so it did. But it all happened by chance without any conscious involvement. And awareness is a produce of the meat in your head and some unconscious chemicals.
People can come to some crazy conclusions observing the same evidence.

I was not comparing the "form" of god, sky pixies, and leprechauns, merely the absurdity of believing in any of the above. Millions of people gender this supposedly all-powerful being, and that's somehow not "limiting" it.
There is no EVIDENCE for god, so how can that imaginary evidence be "disproven"? I could just as easily say the presents under my tree are "proof" santa exists.

Awareness in my view is not physical, but you can believe it is a by-product of meat and chemicals. Because we observe order, systems, function, awareness, laws - these things have to have a source and originator, they can't just happen or have no cause. Everything has a cause that is physical and so only a causeless supernatural consciousness could explain the initial cause of the universe.

All things have a source and cause in the universe, everything that is finite has a beginning and thus a cause, only the causeless can thus be the initial cause of the physical finite universe.
There is only one God - source of all life, consciousness/spirit and physical, one source for everything ultimately, not a finite deity.

If the universe is a "closed system" and it originates from a "singularity" as many materialistic minded scientists believe, then at some point every element of the universe would need to have come into being.
God/Spirit/consciousness are forms of energy, but energy itself may have deeper layers. Energy indeed is eternal, that which drives the universe is a shard of Gods eternal light, life and energy, but the material forms are temporal.
Of course materialist scientists can't measure the Spirit

Every element? We know exactly where elements come from. We know how hydrogen formed in the hadron era of the Big Bang, and we also know where and how the other heavier elements were formed from fusion in stars and through star collapse ( supernovae ).

The big bang is one theory which not all scientists agree upon, even atheists, so you can in no way claim to know based on that. Energy is a shard of Gods Spirit, thats what powers our consciousness and is partly the reason why awareness doesn't end when the physical vessel does. At the initial point of singularity there would have been no matter only energy. Once matter reaches the speed of light it is no longer matter, it is energy, and any initial singularity would have stood out-with time and space making any mass or matter impossible.

In the initial singularity when there was only pure energy and the potentiality of all the laws of order and function there was no mass, time or space only infinite energy. At that point matter did not exist and was pure energy. The theory of the initial singularity before the explosion of space time and matter is a situation in which all matter is condensed into an infinite state of energy. Matter only came into existence when the relativity of space time and motion /laws arose

So science books filled with theories are your bible. You should remember in regard to the universes origins you are dealing with mens ideas, beliefs and theories, not facts. Black holes have no mass, they are the absence of matter, a similar thing would be true in a singularity where theoretically mass become infinite that means it no longer exists as a mass it becomes a potential of energy. No space, time or mass in a singularity, just energy.

It would have been an intense explosion, again theoretically, in which all of the potential energy became condensed into space, time and matter.
If you imagine energy is eternal and sits out-with the universe, which is limited to space and time, then energy did exists (God/consciousness) before linear time and space was created.

pure energy as in without any mass, matter or elements involved. There may also be finer levels of energy/light/consciousness which relate to higher dimensions which have not yet been understood which is where awareness and God resides.

Consider the amount of energy that is currently in action in the universe in it's currently attributed scientific labels. All of this energy had to exist in potentiality at any point of singularity and prior to it as energy cannot be destroyed or created. At the God point, prior to the universe materialism only Pure energy without measurable mass or form, without time would have existed this is beyond shape and form, Gods nature, pure consciousness and energy

At some point all of the order, information, functional capacity/potentiality and consciousness had to be placed within the system. Generic matter and energy has no intelligence or purpose, it could not arrange itself into living organisms or that intangible awareness we really are. There has to be a system programmer out-with the closed system, and clearly that wouldn't be within the system or quantifiable.

In the grand scheme of things humans know very very little. Some basic observations point to the universe having a higher consciousness at is source. Systems, order, functions, patterns and information cannot arise from an unconscious source and randomly form systems of order and function/purpose. Admitting your ignorance and observing life makes it very foolish to ignore God, the afterlife, soul and a continuation of consequences for our choices and conduct after the dense sensory elements end.
