@eqsmooth "STFU"?? (:o( Go fuck yourself and keep away from those sheep. Farmers have already warned you about this. They don't fancy you. You may THINK they do but they don't. Anyone who wishes to hear this Rory Gallagher version type in Rory Gallagher enndaley.
@lewars1912 Everyone has played this song a billion times but it took Clapton to bring it to a worldwide massive audience. Check out his '94 recording of it in the studio. Pure Platinum. I love Rory Gallagher too but like I said even that shit head John Mayer has a 10 minute live version.
Didn't I tell you to STFU? It costs nothing to do what you are told. ;) Listen to Freddie King's version too. This song is a cover of a cover of a cover, but it was written for Freddie King by Sonny Thompson. Clapton's '94 version is mind altering and I don't suggest driving while under its influence.
@eqsmooth Have you heard any of the songs from Cream's 2005 Albert Hall reunion concerts? Some of them are on here. My favourite is the version of "We're Going Wrong" and Clapton's solo on "NSU" is great. I have them as favourites on my channel.
@lewars19 No but I have hung out w/Ginger Baker in L.A.. He was in bad shape. That was 1991. He really got his health together since then. I'll check your faves out. I also saw Clapton in Central Park in 1999, in the rain. he was doing a show w/so many stars: Keith Richards, Chrissie Hynde, Sheryl Crow's band (she is an underestimated band leader). I can't remember all of them. He opened w/ WHITE ROOM and I swear to you I was 3 inches off the ground. It was so sick i couldn't believe how I felt.
i tihnk he should play that gutiar more often, he is a master of fat tones, not sayin his strat work aint beautiful too but, man, my favorite clapton will always be him with john mayall
What a pity that no professional live recording of this Blues tour was ever made. They probably thought there would be no market for it. Consequently, we lost the best period of blues playing by EC. He was smokin' in the mid nineties. Well, except at 2:16!
@Samueltrad2:16! Wow he messsed up! I wonder if it because he is used to palyign Stratocasters which have a longer fretboard scale length... so maybe when he slid his hand up the neck for the next note he slid it the correct amount for a stratocaster, which is a fraction of an inch too far on a slightly shorter, more compressed, Gibson neck. Interesting...

@Samueltrad Couldn't agree more - his best playing since his Mayall/Cream era. Great tone, phrasing, the lot. As for 2.16, well, even God can drop a clanger sometimes!
This is amazing. People getting on a soapbox about good players who few know about. Being mainstream is a business choice...and a good one. Trust me on this...Clapton has touched more people than any of the other British players put together. His continued endorsement of the old blues guys has resulted in financial gain for them. Saying one player is better than another is a cop out. There is no measuring stick for that. However, there is for the bank account.
@57tigerstrat Agreed. Believe me, without EC, I'd never have listened to Freddie King. EC went mainstream, made lots of money - good for him. EC got through & conquered his demons, unlike other ('better') guitarists. Rory Gallagher was no more pure blues than EC. Both are/were great exponents of blues based music, one just (luckily) had a stronger physical constitution & got his act together better. Gallagher is well-known over here by those who know this music: so he's not that 'unknown'.
92% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and cl-ASS-ic rock.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos.
can't see why you are posting this on a Clapton solo video but what the hell... but seriously... new school rock all sounds the same! same sound, same style in making riffs and stuff even the vocal usually sounds alike!! I mean.. it sucks!!
also this is no real thing.. exactly the same is used against heavy metal with just hiphop and.. yeah you understand.. it's mainstream, it's used and you should check your ears
This tour. Revived my life. I went back to chasing the blues. Before '92 or so- I had no idea there was REAL blues still around. PLAYING LIVE! HELL YES. BLUES are alive and getting better and bigger all the time.
Right; this is definitely NOT the Hyde Park gig ( a great DVD though!). This is from the "From the Cradle/Nothing but the Blues Tour" '94-'95. Martin Scorsese made a tour documentary called "Nothing but the Blues"...never released :-(, but you can find many songs from the film here on YouTube. Search for Clapton Scorsese, and you're in paradise!
This is from "Eric Clapton Live at Hyde Park." Great DVD! He alernates; every other song is a blues! The other are his pop stuff (CA ''96) I like "Clapton and Friends Crossroads Benefit Live at Madison Sq. Gardn. I also love 24 nights, but a lot of people don't. He plays well on the John Mayall's 70th Birthday DVD. Cheers!
Aside from his way of attacking ther strings, he's got some serious equipment going for him. That '64 Gibson ES-335 is about as good as a humbucker electric guitar can get. And I'm sure he's using a good amp to boot. Possibly little or no effects, but I could be wrong!
No effects. Just straight into amp, overdriven and little amp reverb. The serious equipment is this sound system (for Hyde Park 150,000 people). You play on a '64 335 see if you sound like that! Try the sound system too. It's called musical skill!
It costs man! Seriously, a vintage 335 through a tube amp probably with one 12 in speaker or 4 10s. The amp is turned about 3/4 to where it's beginning to overload. Toggle on mid position. Amp miked through a world-class cutting edge sound system. The rest is in his hand; bends, finger vibrato, slides, picking and phrasing, phrasing, phrasing. If it's not in your hand, it doesn't matter what ya play on or thru. Americans are too hung up on equipment! Eric can play like that at a whisper also.
great stuff even if EC slips up a bit midway thru his solo - even God is fallable! pity those assholes at Warners wouldn't release the Nothin But The Blues DVD by Scorcese
that vibrato of his could cut through a blizzard

Its NOT "from Nothing But The Blues"
Its another show from that tour though, this versions better than the said DVD as well!
Quick question, with a 335 and a hotrod deluxe can i get close to this tone?
