@bigblondman1 How would PRC be able in even invade Taiwan? Yes their missiles can hit it, but the Liberation Army's Navy doesn't have the logistics needed to mount a landing unopposed, lat alone one under fire.
i'am purposely making the worst assumption. the pla has been building up for some time. i think by now they would have that capability. they do have not only missles but 400,000 men poised to invade taiwan if they deem it necessary. they say it would be only if taiwan declares independence. which they wont do if the kmt wins reelection. if the dpp wins im not so sure. the u.s.said they would not support independence for taiwan. if they just fired missles at taiwan. the u.s. would respond.

PRC is larger but how do they stack up qualitywise against the ROC? I still think the ROC has a qualitative edge over the PRC. Of course this is irrelevant as long as the PRC has negligable amphibious assets. They don't have the means to sustain a serious amphibious assault of major significance.

@TJ5266 dude, chill. alright? before the Sino-Japanese War 2, the Nationalist were whooping ass but after 14 years of fighting with the Japanese, the Nationalist were exhausted. and that gave the Communist advantages. because those fuckers barely fought the Japanese. so the communist got more support, the army got bigger, the Nationalists couldn't fight them anymore. so they moved to Taiwan. but then the PLA tried to invade them until we sent our navy vessels to guard the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan is NOT china, and was never ruled by china, only when Qing dynasty taiwan was part of Qing dynasty, But when mao founded china, Taiwan was NOT ruled by china then and was NOT part of china then, so if u want to take land that was part of Qing dynasty then u will have to take russia far east also, so STFU.

how is taiwan not a country, china doesn't govern them so why does the chinese keep sayin its part of china. taiwan got its official independence in 1911. Its like croatia away from yugoslavia, croatia got its independence in 1990s away from yugoslavia which is serbia.

@ynwccsd06 china lost a war to the hjapanese in 1895 and the japs got taiwan until 1945. the r.o.c. accepted the surrender of taiwan from the japs in 1945 . chiang and his forces retreated to taiwan in 1949, it was r.o.c. terrotory because of the surrender but according to international law one army surrendering to another doesnt constitute soverignty. also in 1952 the treaty of san francisco the japs surrendered all claims of taiwan to the u.s. the treaty never specified who gets taiwan.

in the 90s, Taiwan would have won a war supported by the Americans . .. now, fat hope, the missiles rained upon Taiwan in the first hours would render Taiwan's American made defences useless. Unless the Taiwanese put up an epic fight in street battles, Taiwan would return back to China's control

@LORDMCHUGH that's not the point, a country has the free will of selecting its gov't type. regardless what type of gov't it is, everyone's is gonna have different opinions on which is better. people are biased. no one is qualified enough to say which side has a better gov't. vice versa, if china was democracy, and taiwan was communism, it would be perfectly justifiable for china to invade if taiwan demands liberation.
