  • the king of kings is so cool

    I love him

    Greetings from Germany

  • I love Elvis ..

But its obvious, he's having some troubles here, at this press conference.

His voice is weak.. and he's breathing hard.

Poor Elvis. I wish he had stayed away from the medications perscribed to him.

  • notice at 2.05 he's sniffing one of his FARTS

  • @sunrecords56 that was funny

  • @crockettsx thank you i get a chuckle every time i get to that scene.

  • Elvis is my boy and all but damn he was toasted for this interview. Just look at his mannerisms.

  • @JMV1777 ROTF! I laughed so hard I woke my wife up, now she's mad at me.

  • some good comments here.ELVIS would work himself almost to death.he always wanted to work, sing, perform even at the end.r.i.p king of rock and roll

  • What we're witnessing here is a legendarily humble man in the midst of a grueling schedule at the height of his powers - the pinnacle of success. Damn right he was tired. Adding to Elvis' apparent lack of enthusiasm is the low-key type press conference, unlike the MSG presser.

  • You want to see and hear Charisma, watch Elvis: That's The Way It Is. Elvis was always a little shy, and a humble guy. Try watching the press conference from June 1972 as he prepares to play Madison Sq. Garden. He's upbeat, rested and very funny and articulate. Take a look at the press conference at Graceland on his return from the Army. Did Elvis use prescription medication?, Yes. Did Elvis have flaws?, Yes, but did Elvis ever hurt another human being?, No. He was human. But he was special....

  • @ElvisInConcert I agree fully with your comments. He was medicated during this interview and also at the Hawaiian Village interview. He was 100% brilliant during the 1972 Madison Garden interview - very funny and witty. These days "so called" pop stars are into street drugs - Elvis was prescribed his medication. By 1972 he was using them more. He never refused to sign an autograph, a really good guy and he was the greatest entertainer. That's why fans still love him today.

  • Is there a button for Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches. LOL

  • Elvis was suppose to be so charismatic but almost every time i saw him in a interview he was bland and inarticulate.

  • It is amazing to me that in 2010 you can still find Elvis fans who completely deny his drug abuse and almost endlessly rationalize his behavior.

There are people who will exaggerate the case, but his drug abuse and addiction is well documented and proven. What you see here, and elsewhere, is NOT just "jet lag".

Elvis was a great performer, but flawed. He fell into an addiction and defied the efforts of a number of people to help him. Acknowledging that does not make one less of a fan.

  • @dustinblythe I must agree with you that just because you are an Elvis fan does not mean we cannot be honest about his flaws. But I must point out that at least Elvis had enough class to keep his personal problems to himself. He did not parade around using his fame as an excuse nor did he push his ideals on anyone. If anything I believe Elvis would be embarassed about his addiction and would not have wanted his fans or the public to know about it.

  • @dustinblythe It is amazing that you don't know what health issues this man had in his entire life, whitch got just worse by the end of his lifetime. First of all, he EXPERIMENTED drugs such as LSD and marijuana, but never got hooked on them. Everyone did that in 70's - that was the culture of that time.

Only think he was addicted to was medication, but that is not DRUG like many say. He used them on purpose to cure insomnia and pain that his bad health was making. He might had lupus or cancer.

  • @Careica I have read numerous books on Elvis' life, particularly and lately "Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley" by Peter Guralnick, possibly the most exhaustive look at Elvis' life from 1960-1977. I think I have a pretty good handle on what his health problems were. Lupus and cancer were not among them.

  • @dustinblythe Have you not seen 1977 concert? If so then you must be blind or just ignorant not seeing symptoms he had.

He was just a little over 100kg but he looks like 140-150kg because of using steroids to cure lupus. I think that is visualy noticable thing. Nobody who is at his 100kg looks that exploded! So people saying he was fat should look at themselves. 100kg is just a littlebit overweight.

  • @Careica Have you not read "Careless Love"? Or "Elvis: What Happened"? Or "Elvis Aron Presley: Tales from the Memphis Mafia"? All chronicle, through mulitple sources, the drug ABUSE, including Demerol, which bloated his body. None indicate that he had even the first symptoms of lupus. If you can diagnose lupus by watching a thirty year old video when trained physicians missed it, I salute you.

  • @dustinblythe Demerol is medicament whitch can be prescribted by doctor. It is not a drug like you say. In modern world, word drug mean ones whitch are illegal and sold "on the streets". Many surrounding Elvis said he never used illegal drugs, only prescribted medicals like sleeping pills and such.

The quaility of that filmed concert is good enought. Done professionaly and you can see everything. Steroids are used to cure lupus. Nobody look like that in their 40's with weight of 100kg.

  • @Careica Now you are just splitting hairs. Elvis used the same rationalization: "I'm not addicted to street drugs like LSD or cocaine. I am using prescription drugs." There is a difference, and Elvis obtained his through a doctor, but how do you rationalize using a painkiller commonly given to stage four cancer patients for a toothache? (That is a true story)

I recommend "The Death of Elvis" by Charles Thompson and James Cole, probably the best look at Elvis' health, addictions and autopsy.

  • @dustinblythe Well whats the point mentioning about how strong was those medicals? If you have strong pain, you need strong medicine to cure it. In this case, Elvis could not CURE his health issues by any way, he could just ease his pain.

Anyway this discussion went too long, I'm done.

  • @Careica The point of mentioning the strength of the medicine was to show that while Elvis did have some health problems, he was using (and abusing) prescription meds for conditions he did not have and overmedicating (using a Physicians Desk Reference) for conditions he did have. Using a painkiller for terminal cancer patients to treat a toothache is one example.

    Have a nice day.

  • @dustinblythe Part 2 of my comment:

There is even information, that he might have knew in 1972 that he will die soon because of his health conditions, natural conditions, not caused because of medication use. I think you know that some people need medication to even make thru the night without hearth giving up. There is people like that.

To keep it short: DRUGS and MEDICINE are two different things and they make two different reactions in people when you mention them.

  • what said he at the start "I'm on stage"?

  • This press conference was actually at The Las Vegas Hilton, Sept. 1972, announcing The Aloha Show. He just completed a 4 week engagement at The Hilton where he performed 7 days a week, 2 shows a night. Was he tired? Damn straight he was! No performer in Vegas history played 7 days a week. Elvis was a one of a kind performer and an even greater human being. He is the one who gave back to charities first. Everyone else followed his lead. He is The King!

  • @ElvisInConcert

thank you you said it all

  • this was a sad, sad video. it's obvious he was very heavily medicated.

  • Big problem w/text messages is that no one is learning to spell! I was at Graceland and Good friends there but I have to say that Elvis did tend to let his fame imprison him. I was upset that he let himself go to hell like that but he wouldn't listen ( I don't know, maybe he was afraid to listen) to good advice. He could have gotten out of the spotlight anytime he wanted to and lived a decent life with what he had but again, he was AFRAID to!

  • he carried alot on himself its not like he was in group with 5 people to help out each other and talk to and connect but he had to carry all this stuff by himself no one to talk to as in singing group that i think made him lonely and depress and turn to pills to get him high

  • Elvis was fucked up on pain pills here. Lots of pain pills. Enough to kill a normal person. He was so fucked up that he could barely talk. I know because I have been fucked up. Elvis is one of my favorites but he was a dope addict.

  • @Stan1208 FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF NOW???

  • Elvis was on more so much more meds than is reported, by the time he died in 77 many of the meds he was taking was on a "toxic" level. I assume he was pretty stoned here but you have to remember he was a pretty shy person and he may not have been very comfortable in this situation, he just wanted to perform. Makes me sad to see some of this stuff, but he was the greatest.

  • incredible footage--

  • he clearly wasnt in the mood to give a press conference

  • i love him. he was so polite. "beg ur pardon" luv u elvis!

  • "I exercise every day" - that was a good one. I don't think he looks like spending hours on the crosstrainer everyday. Haha.

    ¨He was cool..

  • i heard one of his friends say he stayed clean while preparing for this tour.maybe, maybe not.but unless we there in front of him i will always give the benefit of the doubt.because its elvis,we assume pills.that to me is unfair.we have to consider that he was under pressure and probably a bit sad that day.probably just not up to doing an interview.and i know ppl that breath heavy and they arent addicted, they just breath heavy

  • everyone has off days.anyone thought he might just be hungry/tired/harassed? everyday feelings like god i want a pee but i cant cos the whole world is watching and i got this stupid guy in front of me firing questions i dont really feel like answering cos id rather be in bed catching up on sleep and i miss lisa marie and priscilla?

  • in spiite of being in the buiness 1954-77 elvs still got nervous before showtime. wouldnt you get nervous if you were preparing to perform for thw world. i think so. cstanchik

  • you also have to remember that elvis was extremely nervous and shy about public appearances, for what ever reason. he also was taking medication for an eye infection at this time.

  • Thanks for sharing this press conference. Medicated or not, Elvis looked and sounded every bit the King. He actually looked better than all of today's Hollywood actors combined. Rest in peace Elvis.

  • Yes KingOfDestruction was right as I was..he was VERY sad an VERY high....what a sad loss, IF someone would have stepped in, like his DAD or any of his "so called: friends, Elvis would still be here or at least lives a LOT longer..:-( Miss you Elvis:-(

    WadeElvisMan

  • apparently elvis dad did all he could.he was a poorly man himself.elvis had to make that decision but you cant force someone.

  • elvis had jet lag he wasnt high on drugs assholes try travellin to hawaii from memphis

  • @SuperGraceland

You're right. This is a classic case of EXHAUSTION, people! You jerkoffs couldn't live in his world for a week.

  • @matizzle32 Exhaustion ? Perhaps a combination of exhaustion and drugs maybe. Elvis was a drug addict, very sad indeed but given his situation I think it's easy for people to forgive him or over-look his drug abuse because of the type of person he was. I grew up on Elvis, loved his music & his movies but I won't hide in denial of his drug abuse. I always felt very sorry for him.

  • @vangard213

I'm not "hiding" in denial. I know the man liked his prescription pills. He needed them to get away from the world of suck-ups around him, but it is a FACT that he is extremely exhausted at this point. After his Aloha Special he slept for 24 hours straight.

I felt truly sorry for him and all he had to deal with in his life. That is why I will always be here to defend him.

  • @matizzle32 I totally agree, but he was an addict. Aloha Hawaii was one of his greatest works,I think he was totally free of drugs during that concert unlike his work prior to his death in 77. You said he slept for 24 hours,I wouldn't doubt that a bit,he was probably exhausted. But we are just fans, none of us were there, all anyone can do is read the books and how much of that is truth ? Nothing wrong with defending the man you admire, but don't wear blinders either. Long live the King !!!

  • @matizzle32 cant you see around 2.05 he was blowing farts and couldnt stand the smell of the peanut butter and banana sandwhiches.

  • @sunrecords56

Get your head out of your ass before you say shit, idiot.

  • @sunrecords56 you forgot, they were deep fried in a thick batter an then dipped in aunt jamimas country home down syrup too.

  • @SuperGraceland Try travelling to Hawaii from Australia as I did on my way to Memphis to visit Graceland as I did!!! I have loved the man since I was a kid and work as a paramedic, he was stoned, not jet lagged, stoned. I will add that he maintained his manners which of course many people don't while under the influence of dugs as Elvis clearly was here. Elvis had his problems which does not make me love him any less but to make aggressive denials like yours is just stupid. Face reality.

  • Rapid shallow breathing, mumbling(speech) Elvis was high as a kite in this interview and in the one from Hawaiian Village. It's amazing the reporters did not report on any of that back then. The signs were there but everyone overlooked it.

  • they probably didnt know and just assumed he was tired/jet lagged.there wasnt the awareness there is now

  • Oh and one more thing...I can now see why this little clip was not included in the Aloha From Hawaii Deluxe edition. I wish it was included then it really would have been complete. I always wondered why it wasn't included until today, having just seen it for the first time.

  • I am a huge Elvis fan, and having just watched the June 1972 press conference an hour ago, this is a stark contrast. Elvis was under ultra super intense pressure here. He is obviously filled with anxiety about having to perform for the entire world. Can you imagine the pressure??? Not only that, but he had a few months to lose some weight. So, he's on some kind of amphetamine. Mix this in with the anxiety already and you have a bad mix. He must've felt like hell. Poor guy.

  • And yes he is bothered also by the divorce. It was also around this time that he paid his visit to Nixon. He was using amphetamines. For some reason in 1972, this is when his drug use really started to get out of control. It was because of the divorce.

  • You could see the sadness in his eyes despite the fact that he tried to hide it with the sunglasses E just seems so sad to me here & I can tell by the heavy breathing & just the way he's reacting to everything that he's very sedated here. I just hope that up in heaven the pain & the sadness has been replaced with joy& comfort. I miss you Elvis & I'll never stop thanking my Grandma for being the first person to introduce me to you when I was 7 I'm now 25 R.I.P King of Rock See ya when I get there

  • Poor Elvis already was with troubled for his medicine despite of what yet look slim and damn sexy.

  • As we all know, Elvis very rarely made public appearances - he was not overexposed to the press, unlike the entertainers of today. Yes, he toured frequently after 1973, but very rarely did he talk to reporters. Maybe because of his addictions the Colonel knew it wouldn't look good, so he kept him away from the cameras and live interviews. Regardless, still the #1 entetainer/performer ever. 40 years later American Idol capitalized on his appeal when he sung the duet with Celine Dione.

  • You know, watch his chest, especially at 3:15-3:55, its literally almost pounding, the uppers he was on clearly shows in the press conference, his speech, eyes, an his chest is pounding..sad:-(

    WadeElvisMan

  • Elvis was not sick at that time! He started to be sick in 1974 until 1977.

  • well he was CLEARLY SUPER high on drugs..his chest is just a pounding..his speech is slurred real bad, so, yes he was very sick, even then...look at his eyes , even an 7 year old could tell he was stoned very badly..;-(

    WadeElvisMan

  • Not at all!!! Elvis wasn't on drug effects during this conference and i have a Very Good source about this famous conference.

  • Well, I disagree, my source comes from Joe Esposito, as I know him, through my dad...we arnt super best pals, but talked to him like 3 times by phone, a few emails an met him 7 times, an he confirmed Elvis was ON Demerol, 200 mgs injection, an Valium, + Amphetamines...an 7 other meds...we all miss him, an he was super sad over his divorce...I was over mind as well, its terribly painful stuff....TC evrybody:-)

  • Yes he's high I mentioned in my comment that I noticed he was high Elvis did drugs, those Elvis fans that don't want to belive that can go on living in denial but the truth is the truth whether it's believed or not. Hell he was probably high during the concert for all we know. The problems Elvis had in his life were his & he dealt with them the way he dealt with them. NOW!!! you can love him..... hate him.....OR....... judge him for that. BUT!! either way, decide & MOVE ON!!!!!!!

  • Elvis was super high on drugs, its a well known fact...sorry..but its true an if you cant tell that by viewing this, then you need better glasses an a hearing aide..as even his voice is slurred

    WadeElvisMan

  • Then ask the question to a member of the Memphis Mafia! Good Luck!

  • I asked Joe Espositio personally, whom I';ve known for over 15 years, an Elvis was heavily medicated that day...so there you go...why is it so hard for people to belive their, "idols" are like superman an are "perfect"? Elvis was fantastic in many ways, but a very troubled man as well..

  • Wait don't you mean, why is it so hard for people to belive their, "idols" are NOT like superman and are NOT "perfect"? Rather then, "why is it so hard for people to belive their, "idols" are like superman an are "perfect"?

  • You are absolutely right! Elvis is our hero but you have to be blind if you cant see that he is very medicated hear! During this period he was very unhappy since the brake-up. Although I think Elvis was clean on the Aloha performance because this was a great challenge for him. Unfortunately his last! He is the best performer that ever walked on a stage! R.I.P.!

  • I agree with Wade, Anybody can see he was on some type of Drug

  • Hey the last comment I made about people needing to move on was not directed to you it was directed to the people who are disagreeing with you about him being on drugs sorry if it came across the arong way I was simply agreeing with you.

  • Is it me or does Elvis shake his head when the man says hes the first performer to do a world wide performance bt satelite?

  • Yes Elvis shakes his head in disbelief at the privilege and challenge of being the first ever.

  • Yeah! Elvis is the first.

  • Offstage Elvis was naturally a shy person and never enjoyed doing press conferences and interviews. Here he is clearly bored by having to answer basically the same questions and be polite, humble and accessible. It is well-documented that his lifestyle included a steady use of amphetamines and barbiturates and as the decade wore on the dependence got out of control. Hey, he was HUMAN!

  • elvis is not happy i see he's eyes :(

  • Well, he just got divorce from Priscilla who dumped him for karate instructor....

    Who would be happy.

  • i could see that he was tense it almost looked like he was having anxiety he was probaly feeling the pressure it is ok ELVIS you may rest now we all love you and like you say on some lines the image dont make the man you got caught up giving us all you had and we ELVIS fans are eternally grateful remember your good times your laughs and let god help you with the rest your special no matter how you are i loved you from the beginning and i will love you through eternity it is ok just 2B U W/ GOD

  • Elvis looked pretty drugged out there and that was only 1972.

  • If Elvis had demons around him it was because he had a beautiful soul, demons don't like beautiful souls.

  • elvis was too good 4 this world...his words before he stepped onto the aloha stage were: ''...if my momma could only see me now.'' R.I.P.

    T.C.B. Elvis

  • Elvis was a pimp... no doubt about it... genius of music and performance.

  • It is not easy to be under pressure and work hard in performances, he is really in depression or feel bad...

  • I bet he was packing heat at the interview!

  • man he looks worn out

  • Worn out? How do you figure that? He didn't get worn out until several years later.

  • well just look at him parker worked him to death

  • I feel so bad for The King in this. He's so high.

  • It's blackmagic. he's not high.

Elvis whole life has been nothing but blackmagic from his manager to control and exploit and from his wife to get the property.

People should know the whole shameful truth and not what they want us to know.

  • where do you get your theory from Zecalran. I can tell you, there is footage of Elvis signing autographs..on a home movie...and demonic faces appear in the trees. It's eerie. I think demons brought down Elvis. That's why he didn't sleep at night.

  • Yes they did but he was delivered, they tortured him like hell, demons brought him down but Elvis had a spirit of an angel in him wierd. huh? btw where's the footage? Elvis got involve with the wrong boys in previous incarnation...He's the so-called king david.

  • There is absolutely no such thing as reincarnation Zecalran. It's just one of satans' lies.

  • Jesus alluded to reincarnation in the Bible in fact most of christ's teaching on reincarnation was edited. As the sun goes down at night it is reborn in the morning.

  • Oh Jesus 'alluded' to it did he...that's an outright lie. There is no reincarnation..period. It's not in the Bible ANYWHERE. Of course you're going to say the Bible was edited. That's another lie. It clearly says that not a word to be added or taken away from the Bible. You have nothing to back up your lie. satan wants you to believe reincarnation exists...that you have more than one life to 'get it right'. You don't. You have just this life. If I were you, I'd start reading the Bible.

  • I've read the Bible cover 2 cover more than once my friend. They church left out according to research parts of it. They chose the parts that should be included.

  • That is correct.

  • Besides we are not in an argument here, I'm not here to exalt my ego or imposed my opinions on others just simply stated what i thought. Thank you very much.

  • No you got it all wrong. He is just a bit uncomfortable. He never liked these situations very much.

  • You hit it. Too much pain, too much pressure. Man, I wish he could have pulled through that. God bless Elvis, and all of us. We all have to be able to get our heads and say no more to bullshit behavior.

  • Look at 1;56 when the reporter says ''Col.Tom Parker''...Look Elvis' face...=)

  • that means he was angry at parker right

  • yeah...really...thanks for pointing that out. Maybe the col. is right there off camera though..

  • ''GREECE''!!!

  • Fantastic thanks for posting.
