Fought Hitler on land sea and air for 4 years at times completely alone, and eventually played a large part in the invasion of western europe.
The only negative thing about the Old Guard is that they were picked from different parts from the french army, the cavalry, artilery etc. so it was a loss in a whole for the french. But the enemy feared them greatly.
