  • so sad and happy

  • Oh this video is really awesome. When I was born I was 14 weeks early, Its cool to see how I would have been looked after

    xxx

  • shes the most maternal woman ive ever seen.such a sweet cheery kind demeanor

  • Womens and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide is awesome they saved 22 weeker twins Darcy and Hunter and 23 weeker girl Nimah. My son was born at Womens and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide, all of the staff are so friendly sweet, caring and very professional!

  • Hi Nick. Just wondering, how are the babies shown is this video doig today?

  • Nicely done video. As a NICU nurse myself, I agree that hand hygiene and standard precautions are essential, but it is also important to recognize when precautions are necessary, as well as the importance of physical touch in the emotional/psychological development of the neonate. The broader scope of the presentation (the overview of the care of infants in NICU -esp preemies) is heartwarming and inspirational. Thank you for sharing.

  • i want to be a neonatal nurse practioner

  • Wonderful nurse this lady she is holding an older preemie and would have washed her hands before hand. And after that she would have used an antibacterial solution for herself and family t be able to gently touch the tiniest babies.

  • Again, it's really not the standard of care to not wear gloves when touching preemies. There's absolutely no reason to not wear gloves (in conjunction with handwashing/gel) and frankly, it's downright disgusting to watch. I'm a NICU nurse at a large children's hospital and we recently won a regional award for our low infection control rates.

  • Hi Nurse TV here- The NICU at the Women's is world's best practice and the nurse knew exactly what she was doing. Their infection rates are the lowest in the world, so they know what they are doing.

    Thanks

    Nick

  • Could you please back up this statement with a reference?

  • Hey- this was sourced through the interview of the medical director and he said "amongst the lowest in the world" Also the nurse constantly washed her hands with a special substance, which we didn't show in the story. When editing we cut footage all over the place. It's our fault if it appears wrong, this nurse like all nurses is just one switched on amazing health care professional- hope this clears it up

    Ta and thanks

    Nick

  • Why isn't the nurse wearing gloves? Basic infection control!

  • Comment removed

  • they are not always the best infection control. its more important to emphasise proper hand washing (which this nurse was doing). If gloves are not used correctly (ie not washing hands before and after), they can actually lead to bad infection control

  • You're right, doing one or the other isn't good. That's why BOTH need to be done--nothing but the best for the smallest of our people.

  • Thank you, guys, for such a great video! It's wonderful to see and hear how you are doing your job. Good luck!

  • Wonderful job being done there in Australia! I love the nurse's attitude towards the highs and lows of her job, concentrating on the positive and being able to pick herself back up after the sad times.

  • these babies are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable i would LOVE ur job :) but there are some sad aspects to it that i wouldnt like :'(

yeh but i like this show i live in Aus and all the shows u see on tv are from america and stuff its good to see a good australian tv/internet show good job :)
