I first saw this videos years ago (geez, that sounds like a long time lol) and I LOVED it. I have never read the books with Mara in them, so I don't really know much about her, but MAN this video is beautiful! And now that I finally got a youtube account, I had to tell you. :P This is gorgeous!!

I haven't been reading the books lately but what with all the negativity towards the character. I'm not hating on anyone, I just want to know what happened that have so many disliking Mara Jade

@kickinblue I think its the way Luke changed after they got together. Their friendship in the beginning was good because they had great banter, they really played off one another and things were balanced. Neither one of them was the top dog. But then when they got together suddenly Mara became top dog and Luke listened to her like he was a child and she was his mother. The balance and the banter was never as good as it was in the Thrawn Trilogy. They were better off as friends instead of lovers.

I have to jump on the bandwagon as an "Anti-Mara Jade" fan. Could not stand Mara Jade from the moment I heard about her. However, your video was gorgeous.

It never once crossed my mind that Nicole Kidman could be a great Mara, but I guess I should have expected it. Breathtakingly gorgeous. She's one of my favorite actresses. Very pretty, classic look to her. Very graceful and elegant. I don't think she could act the part, but I think visually she makes a great choice. Don't know. She's pretty versatile -- she might could surprise me!! Who knows.

Don't forget Mara Jade was also Talon Karrde's second in his smuggling empire.

Mara kicked some serious botty. It was so good the way her hatred of Luke turned to love through the books. I think her best moment was when in Vision of the Future she finally became a Jedi Knight

@cartoonfreak1877 Mara was the Emperor's Hand. Sidious sent her to kill Luke and she hated him. But they met and she came to the Light eventually and they fell in love and got married.

@cartoonfreak1877 Mara Jade a.k.a. The Emperor's Hand later became the wife of Luke Skywalker, thus being Leia's and Han's sister in law, she later gave birth to his only son, Ben, (named after Obi Wan "Ben" Kenobi) and was later murdered at the hands of her oldest nephew, Jacen Solo.

Probably the reason you don't know Mara it's because Luke meeting her and stuff happened after the last events of The Return of the Jedi.

Oh my word, I just had the best brain blast. You know the rumors that Mara is Obi-wan's daughter? This could totally work! Mara's mother was Echani, and because of that Mara looks just like her, and presto change-o, no more weird feelings about Ewan/Nicole and Nicole/Mark!!!!!

At first, I saw Nicole Kidman as Mara and thought that I wouldn't like this...but she actually fit as Mara, as a sort of sad Mara. This was a great video. I liked the Mara/Luke romance mostly...especially in the Hand of Thrawn Duology and think you do it justice in this video.
