The tie-knot used in the second Matrix movie is most likely nothing but an inside-out full windsor knot. Make a tight knot and look at the back: you have the same overlapping and the same 'mini-tie' in the middle. It works perfectly with a vest and a tie-tack.

You might have made a new knot mate. Look at the Matrix knot (or Atlantic knot), it has a space in between, like a "hole" in the knot. Yours don't, so this one might not have a name from before :)

this is not the ediety knot, this is the atlantic knot, ediety knot featured in the matrix reloaded as arima01 pointed out below has the thin part of the tie ontop of the large part and is held in place with a tie pin,

I think you're missing a step or two... the top knot looks different from the Merovingian's...  The overlapping strands are there, but the narrow end of the tie is supposed to be in front of the wide-blade end...

I think it is intended for use with a vest. I too am 6'3" and have difficulty visualizing enough rope for the job but will give it a go one day anyway.

Perhaps try sourcing a longer tie, an obvious first step, we'll see.
