Metroid II Speed Run Pt.4

People give this game a lot of shit for no map BAWWW, but compared to Metroid on NES, atleast theirs some actual variation in terms of how rooms look. Whats even more disturbing is just how short Metroid II is. (Back in the day took me a week to finish). Its not confusing at all. Music is alright they were trying to build a mood on gameboy sound hardware. I think they did pretty well.

i can't wait until dr. m64 finishes the remake. and i hope its like this, great difficulty, the only thing i don't like is that everything looks the same on the original. i can play it in color on my computer, but i like playing it on my psp, and the color fix doesnt work on there. but anyway, the metroid 2 remake should be as hard as this i think, which isn't too hard, but since its in 32 bit, everything will be distinguishable.

what do all the earthquakes do? so far i've only noticed that the second earthquake here lowered the acid water level.

Otherwise what is the usual way of getting through the acidual water? Is there a VariaV2.0 suit somewhere?

yup it didn't have a map and that made it confusing and difficult. nintendo actually didn't have enough space on the game to devote to a map.

It's a speed run technique. They found you could save more time by sequence breaking into the acid, instead of back-tracking. :)

first time i saw that done, i was like....either he's a crazy lunatic or he's gotta ace card up his sleeve...because i'd forgotten about the energy ball

I used this in my earlier speed run today, and got a final time of 83 minutes....only cos i've been sloppy in some areas, i could easily be faster in certain areas (aiming for under 80 minutes)

as soon as you dove through that acid pool, I was like.. this guy knows where a energy tank or refill is already. It was pretty sweet though you taking it down so close...nice touch! You must have spent many lonely nights with this game and had nothing else to do. dont worry.. Im a little jealous because its a fun game albeit less challenging with so many energy tanks. I would like to see a one energy tank runthrough if you make more! :)

My third grade year was devoted so much to this game. It was not until the Nintendo Power Comic of Metroid came out that I learned that Samus was a woman.

I agree.. some of the stages just have that creepy lonely feeling to them. The game is pretty hard unless you have a guide. Im sure this guy has played through for many hours on a daily basis to achieve the timing for this speed run! And I think it was worth it.. it is pretty entertaining! Most people would never have thought of a speed run in this game and Im glad he did it!
