A dirty hit is a helmet to helmet hit at any time or any type of hit when the player is already down. Parris was not down, fighting for extra yards and Mays lead with his SHOULDER. If anything the penalty should have been called on USC #15 for pulling his helmet off. A dirty hit is the one on McKnight when he was out of bounds for 5 yards before being tackle. Either call both or none of them.

Kyle Rudolph did catch the ball and scored the T.D. with 4 seconds left of this years N.D. S.C. game but what did the ref's do, the same thing in 2005 when the game was over and N.D. had the lead.
Once again, awesome job on putting together the highlights of the game! After the game I thought the final throw was a complete waste, but seeing it again this time, we really were just a slip away from tying that game. Oh what could have been. It is also pretty hard to feel bad about a 7 point loss when 14 minutes earlier a 27 point loss seemed likely.

The utter desperation of the Irish in the last series shows how badly things have gotten for them in their series with rival USC. The Irish USED to be intimidating. They once owned the Trojans with a 12-0-1 streak from 1983-95. Since then, they are 2-5 vs. SC in South Bend; 6-1 vs. SC in LA (Clinton was still President when ND last won in LA!). Eight straight losses to USC, some by humiliating margins of 31 points ('02, '03, '04); 38 points ('07) & 35 points ('08).

Just as ND's series vs. SC has become since '96 (3-11), including epic thrashings to the Trojans in '02, '03, '04, '06, '07, '08. Then throw in the overall demise of Irish football in general, and you've got a mess on your hands. NO national titles since '88; NO Heisman Trophy winners since '87; NO wins vs. SC @ South Bend since '01; 4 HCs in last decade; NO BCS title games. Real bad.

That makes a QB's job pretty easy. Clausen had relatively no running game, was under harrassment from USC's D-line when they were only rushing four so he was throwing into crowded coverages, yet still willed the team back into the game,

He wasn't hit with his helmet off, his helmet was knocked off with Mays hit and the other defender pulling it off. Mays led with his shoulder, you should be whining about the other USC defender pulling the helmet instead of mays.

why don't you do some critical thinking of your own and realize that sc was lucky to win this game. Missed tackles by the defense, dropped passes, and oh yeah, our wide reciever tripped in the end zone with one second left. If he was there, he would have caught the game-tying touchdown pass. A dirty hit is a helmet to helmet hit at any time or any type of hit when the player is already down. Parris was not down, fighting for extra yards and Mays lead with his SHOULDER. If anything the penalty should have been called on USC #15 for pulling his helmet off. A dirty hit is the one on McKnight when he was out of bounds for 5 yards before being tackle. Either call both or none of them.

I dont know how the refs helped USC out, both 15 yard penalties on Taylor Mays were bulshit and as far as "ripping of Parris helmet" thats just not true. He was not on the ground yet fighting for extra yards, Mays led with his shoulder and completely missed and the guy was acting. Also, no one from Notre Dame can tell me that the late hit was in fact a penalty since it's clear he was fighting for extra yards. Lastly, the 15 yards for flexing your muscles. What Tate did to Mays was just as bad

His knee was either down or it was a forward pass with illegal touching by the lineman, but that is not a fumble. Also. to call an entire team dirty based on one player is just ignorant. You're right, I shouldn't judge your team based on one play. Maybe I should judge it based on the countless unsportmanslike conduct, late hit, helmet-to-helmet, etc. penalties that were called. The parris hit was the icing on the dirty cake. And what Tate did to Mays was NOT bad. Tate was still in play and Mays was trying to tackle him. When you take that kind of angle to a beast like Tate and hit as hard as Mays does, you just might get knocked the fuck out. That's football

First of all the late hit wen taylor mays ripped of robbi parris's helmet off intentionallly which is a total lack of sportmanship and should get suspended just becus of how cheap it was. So you guys can think you won but if the refs wuld of calld the real calling which it shuld of been ruled a touchdown on the third last play we wuld of easily won but once again refs favor usc just like 05

I agree with you, Taylor Mays is a cheap shot and did it all game. The refs pull the same thing in 2005 and 2006. Kyle Rudolph did catch the ball and scored the T.D. with 4 seconds left of this years N.D. S.C. game but what did the ref's do, the same thing in 2005 when the game was over and N.D. had the lead.

Once again, awesome job on putting together the highlights of the game! After the game I thought the final throw was a complete waste, but seeing it again this time, we really were just a slip away from tying that game. Oh what could have been. It is also pretty hard to feel bad about a 7 point loss when 14 minutes earlier a 27 point loss seemed likely.

What a game! I was there I had great seats and it came down to the wire. When did a 7 point victory translate into "getting your ass beat"??? I don't know!!! All the USC fans were nervous that final play as I was, because it was a great game. ND played sloppy, but so did USC! It wasn't ND's year but I think things are only getting better game by game. I'll say it now for the record any youtube USC fans that want to talk smack will have the chance to say it to my face!! don't hide behind the PC!
