The inside of the cave has weird collisions. You can jump perpendicular at some pretty weird angles. The edge of the overhang apparently has bad collisions too. A combination of these strange effects lets me get up the cliff. You could probably perform these in real time if you tried. You just have to hold some counter-intuitive joystick angles.
