  • @MrAppleseed88 "Minorities serve no useful purpose other then to fulfill the evil riche's dream of slave labor" - What?

Do you mean immigrants? you can be a minority and be 50th generation settler, jews, blacks, atheists, vegans, gays, are all minority groups.....what are you talking about?

Also, the "Rich" are a minority as well, do you understand what the word minority means?

  • Give these idiots back to Mexico.

  • I am so sick of living with minority people. I hate listen to them cry and whine and want everyone to pay their way, when all they are here for is the rich use them to drive wages down for all working people. Minorities serve no useful purpose other then to fulfill the evil riche's dream of slave labor.

  • does this guy know about the supreme court? . . . fucking douchebag

  • The lack of comprehension. I am horrified by this.

  • "We're talking about the government efforts to achieve equality."

What BS! The government had to be dragged kicking and screaming every step of the way as people laid down their lives for the right to vote. This is just a white male supremacist who can't resist having the last word, that being, well the white men did it for you, you ungrateful (fill in the blank).

  • I live in Texas. And yes, our politicians and state leaders are THIS fucking stupid! A major comfort I have living in this cowboy state is being in Austin, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

  • The majority did it under pressure from the so called minority. Not because of some innate desire to be fair.

  • Is he about to say "a majority of whites"? at 0:43?

  • This hillbilly asshole has no idea what he's talking about. To cite just one example, what about all those thousands of American MINORITY citizens who faced police dogs, fire hoses, tear gas, and injury and death at the hands of the police in places like Selma, Alabama? Those men and women risked their lives for the principle of equality and dignity and made the majority of Americans take notice of the civil rights struggle for the first time. But I suppose their actions don't count.

  • holy shit, i knew don mcleroy was an ignoramus about evolutionary biology, but this is beyond belief...women coul dnot have have earned the right to suffrage without men giving it to them.

  • This guy is incredibly stupid. Those women and minorities, thank God that there were good white men to save them.

  • This guy is a complete Idiot! Does he not realize that the burning of America's major cities were imminent? Where there is injustice there is violence! I'm surprised that the Tejano and Black community have tolerated so much abuse for such a long time.

  • Yeah... like it was white men marching in the streets demanding that they stop oppressing others. What a d-bag... Absolute d-bag.

  • He has a valid point but he expresses it sooo badly that people just want to smack him.

He is gone now , back to dentistry. yay .

  • @SqueakerAlpha

He doesn't have a valid point. He's a chauvinist. He thinks that white men are responsible for the civil rights movement.

  • Aren't women the majority?

  • Why let Texas secede? Give it back to Mexico.

  • What a retard, all of those women in the room obviously wanted to call him a pig when he made that comment about women's voting rights. At least in Texas they open about their racism and sexism. I would have no problem whatsoever if they seceded tomorrow.

  • We wouldn't need majority vote for minority rights if you just gave them their rights in the first place.

  • WTF?!

  • Oh thank you, allmighty powerful white men, for giving those poor downtrodden women the vote! Pardon me while I throw up.

  • Maybe someday soon, Texas will just secede from the U.S. -- then we make Puerto Rico the 50th state (so no 49-star flag), and instead of Pollack jokes, we tell Texan jokes.

You know, this could turn out to be a win-win.

  • "Homosexuality is unnatural because it obviously does not produce children" Homosexual behavior occurs throughout nature, among numerous species. You need to a basic science education.

No intelligent, rational person cares what Bronze Age texts say about important issues.

  • What an ignorant piece of shit. Texas people need to get these nutjobs out of important positions.

  • "Homosexuality is like bestiality because unlike heterosexuality, it does not produce children."

Which would of course also mean that infertile couples are also committing "bestiality".

Say, how old are your parents and have you ever heard the term "menopause"?

"And, if you wanna call me a Bible thumper, Mosaic law legislates both with stoning."

Like in Iran and all those other backwards countries.

  • Lol, you are good.

  • @FortyforHim lol thats pretty good. Cept that Rupert Murdock owns fox and a laaaaarge part of the US media, as well as all of australia and canada. So yeah, fox is going to always be #1 cause it's run almost as a monopoly. Also there is plenty in the bible I'm sure you could be stoned for that has nothing to do with sexual preference; the point is we progressed as a civilization past such irrationality, don't drag us back.

  • I realize you wrote this 5 months ago, but the hypocrisy is legendary. You call someone a bigot for making fun of the mentally handicapped, and you have the audacity to say homosexuals are the same as people who have sex with, rape, animals. You must be trollin' or being tongue in cheek, satirizing the bible thumping, conservative who represents "the real America" (which turns out to be just the straight, Christian, Fox news listening group). If this is true, you're damn good.

  • why are you so full of hate? humans are humans. animals are animals...actually humans are animals. who the hell cares??? mind your own business

  • People like this guy are just sick. Too bad it seems to be a majority of the country that suffers from this ultra right wing evangelical revisionist disease. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us. when you see a guy like this in control of our education standards, how can anyone wonder why our rank in education is slipping?

  • When did human beings get to be this stupid? Is evolution going backward?

  • This is the dumbest thing I've heard someone say since Sarah Palin opened her mouth

  • What a fucking moron.

  • The majority wouldn't have done squat for civil rights if LBJ hadn't been there to twist their arms. There's a son of which Texas can be proud.

  • I agree !

Minorities (Republicans) should be thankful to Majorities (Democrats)

  • you do know that there is no difference between republicans and democrats and hasn't been for quite some time now. if you do you are just a fool.bush and obama are just puppets anyway and take their orders from the people who really make the decisions in this country.

  • jesus christ this is hard to watch. so wrong on so many different levels. God I wish Mexico had won the war

  • Texans are fucking retarded!

  • Texans have never ben known for their intelligence.... apparently.

  • Now that's what you call being raised in Texas... how does he even get a chance to sit in that room if he's thinking and acting like an early 1900's KKK member. Shame on you Texans that voted that jackass into a governmental seat... tsk tsk tsk.

  • Unfortunately the position that that piece of shit religious nut asshole holds is appointed by the governor.

  • we should not thank our 'majority masters' for giving us freedoms, we should be smacking them in the head with the following comment... "Took ya long enough!!!"

  • total white supremacist, sexist bastard! When members of a majority separate from their predisposed beliefs and incorporate a new agenda and vote based on the minority agenda, they no longer vote based on majority or minority rule, but they vote THEIR CONSCIENCE! Bastard asshole!!!

  • ouch! that guy dug himself a big hole that he couldnt get out off. Let me guess he's a (R) and too dumb to know what the real facts are or simply doesn. t care or makes facts as he goes along (like fox).

Check out the look that lady behind the lady standing up made at 1:14. She was like WTF??????

  • contrary to popular belief whites NOT the majority. This was their country. Even w/slavery more than 90% of black people have been here longer than 90% of white people. They are the real immigrants! And anything we have we fought for during the civil rights movement we marched, bled, went to jail, and was hosed down. The so call majority was forced to cede to us b/c they know they are outnumbered.

  • it took the majority of wh-- it took a majority.

  • what this guy was trying to say is black americans are only free because of whites....he's just trying really hard to be politically correct.

then again, blacks were enslaved by none other than....ya.

  • That felt really akward.... Right ladies Right ummmm ......

  • The dogs are not the cats but the cats are not the dogs.. The socks are put on before the shoes & the shoes are put on after the socks.. Am I right??

  • So the majority meaning non wealthy and the minority being the rich?? You know, the true majority.

  • TRUTH

  • I hear that Texas executes retarded people. This guy should be scared.

  • The American revolution was fought and sympathized by a minority of the colonies' population.

  • That "one man" is an elected position. Along with all the other morons in all the other videos of the Texas board of "education" that TPM has posted.

They represent the people that voted them into office. If you don't want the rest of us to think you're all fuck tards... maybe you shouldn't be electing these people.

  • Uh...

This guy just figured out how democracy works at 60 something?

This is an amazingly bigoted tautology.

Please succeed Texas, we don't want you, we'll keep Austin though.

  • So many small minded people on here. You're as bad as the man in the video.

  • You realize you're the only one taking exception to these sentiments right?

  • Dear Texas. Please leave the union. You're a god damn embarrassment.

  • So you've lived in Texas? You know how it is here? You're listening to ONE person and basing you opinion on them? Man, you are small town, small minded.

  • Texas sucks, go rejoin Mexico.

  • Nope, it does not suck. It's wonderful here.

  • lol wtf, this doesn't make too much sense. I didn't know politicians could be this stupid, but i guess its America. He's assuming that the majority who vote through a bill in parliament represent the majority of the population. And then even assuming this is true - its not a change in policy that combats inequalities its a change in society, being views, morals etc. Minorities have more power than majorities anyway - the have invested something, and what they stand for is extremely clear.

  • I think what he is trying to say is, since it took the majority to vote in to law to support the minority, the bulk of the majority is thus not rascist, or sexist, etc, etc

  • " 'What is not done collectively cannot be good,' said International 1-5537." --Ayn Rand, Anthem

Dystopia-land! Fun for the whole family!

  • I don't know quite what to make of this video. I :kinda: get what he's trying to say, but it's all so completely mangled as to make him sound like a toolbox. The looks on the women's faces couldn't have been more apt.

  • This nonsensical fool is hilarious. Instead of asking if an audience member can understand what you say, try speaking more clearly.

The take away from this is that, yes, for civil rights and women's suffrage to happen, it required white male politicians to step on board. That doesn't mean that minorities and women should bow down in patriarchal obligation, though.

  • aahhh, the title is an opinion, not a quote....phuqn liberals

  • i find it hilarious he sites civil rights for support, considering interracial marriage was legalized years before the majority was ok with it.

  • However afraid he was, and however he stammered, I think he made a good observation. The downtrodden will always remain that way unless helped up by the "successful."

  • Yes it took the majority vote. But it took the minorities kicking, screaming, protesting, organizing, hunger strikes, walks, sit ins to make that happen. If we just allowed the majority to decide our best interests then many more people would be disenfranchised and treated like second class citizens.

  • Most excellent post. :)

  • ..just as the tea parties are trying to accomplish...kicking and screaming", so why are the protesters being cast out, by the liberals, as being violent? And yes, the protesters are being treated like "second class citizens"

  • What year is it again? I could have sworn it was almost 2010.. When I was a kid I never would have imagined we would have de-evolved to this point.. Thanks alot George W ,Glenn Beck and the rest.. Get fucked I hope you idiots do secede that way we can take OUR nukes and turn you into a sheet of glass.

  • It wasn't the majority vote in Texas. Perhaps how backwards Texas is should be part of the cirriculum.

  • Wow... because the majority (white men) have always been so kind, right? Honestly, the absurdity of it all.

Womens vote, segregation and Jim Crowe laws, freedom for slaves, all had to be fought for AGAINST the majority. Today we're still fighting against the majority for equality for gays, atheists, etc.

To demand the minority stand up in respect for the majority as if they're kind and gentle masters is absurd, at best. The US is not about mob rule.

  • Touché, Chinchilla,

    White men should shut up.

  • The majority of white men had absolutely no power. Yes men had the right to vote, but not many did. And when women demanded their rights, men rightfully obliged. And if you did some research you would learn that much of the opposition against women's right to vote came from women. Who fought to free the slaves? oh yes, that's right, white men.

  • Give me a break. White male land owners had the power, then white males, big diff. Women demanded rights for how long? The slaves required a war, and even then were segregated for decades. And if women had no power, how did they "oppose" the womens vote? Absurd.

And the best you can do is call me a racist? Honestly now, that pretty much cements you've got nothing intelligent to say.

I also didn't say "he said white men," *I* said white men. The majority has usually been white males.

  • Also, you racist cunt, he wasn't referring to white men when he says "the majority."

  • so in essence, he is implying that the minorities are INDEBTED to the majority for their efforts in making everybody equal. is this the holy bible or stupid straight white man talking?

  • Majority is white? What have you been smoking?

He is saying it takes a consensus of some of the oppressors to pass laws that benefit the oppressed. In that regard be glad that mob rule does not rule. Rarely are we humans more cruel then in groups. That said if not for the occasional decision that is wise beyond the usual capability of our legislators. We would be Nazi Germany. "Us and them" is so easy to fall back on.. The individual is indebted to society not the reverse.

  • A very small consensus created the rules that protect those individuals from the mobs that would overrun them. At any rate, this is right in line with what I said, if you got my overall point.

  • either you hit the wrong reply link or you are quite the absolute moron.

  • Most politicians are pigs its very annoying.

  • So true.

  • oo the women in this vid went "oh yeah ok" to "wtf? you you pig"

  • Haha! I know! I would have thrown my shoe at him like that one guy did to Bush!

  • I am so glad they laughed in his face. Even if he did understand what a majority and minority really mean as far as passing a bill... he should also realize that even if you have a majority that wants to change something, the rights of the minority cannot be taken away. And if "minorities" come together they become the "majority". So stupid. He is using the word MAJORITY as WHITE-MEN... which is not true anymore.

  • He never SAID he was using MAJORITY as WHITE-MEN.

  • True. But he almost said majority of Wh... 0:40

Even if he was going to say... "white people" why would he bring this issue up? Its OBVIOUS that MAJORITIES make the rules. WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY. He was pointing this out to say... YOU "MINORITIES" (which is pc for non-whites) should thank us BECAUSE we make decisions and have all the power. Which isn't true anymore.

    See my point?

  • America is actually a republic, NOT a democracy.

If we were, we'd not have an electoral college or stuff like that.

  • In a direct democracy that would be true. But republic pretty much means "representative democracy"... :-)

    Potato Potato

  • lol yes I see that now.

I think he's saying that the majority of those that voted to give minorities the rights should get some credit, and I agree. Bean, maybe you're right, but I don't think in terms of identity politics, so I can't tell if he's racist. If he's saying that minorities owe majorities something, then I would disagree with him.

  • Thanks, TruTV. Good Points.

  • Not to split hairs but we do not live in a DEMOCRACY...it is a Representative REPUBLIC. The word democracy is not in a single paper of the establishment of this government by the founding fathers. This was done on purpose. It was made that way so as a citizen you would be more concerned about who your local representative, your senator, and your governor is and less concerned about your president. Local gov't is supposed to be more powerful than the federal...but this soon may not be true

  • Okay. Well, i did not know that. I am a little bit out of my expertise. But earlier you said we were not a democracy because we have an electoral college, not because the FF never called it a democracy. That''s history, i was arguing semantics.

  • Also he said "It took THE majority to give women the vote, because women couldn't vote" Again, obvious. Majority rules... Why even say this? Did he just go home and look up what democracy is and got excited and wanted to tell the us?

No. MAJORITY = MEN (black and white), In that case. He seems to be using the term in the same manner today... AGAIN which is NOT true. Women can vote now, and MAJORITY is not a concrete word. So why is he saying this unless he means it as WHITE MEN.

  • What is being explained (poorly) is that a movement or cause that is NOT in power or NOT enacted must request approval from those that actually ARE in power. Civil Rights Laws and Emancipation were enacted by white politicians (like it or not). No women politicians gave women the right to vote. Women marched and convinced the majority (male politicians) of their cause and were granted the right to suffrage. Don't take it to be such a racial issue. He is just not a good speaker.

  • you're the one assuming. nobody is making this a racial issue.

  • I was making comments about some of the comments making fun of texans being rednecks and hicks and saying it was a racial issue.

  • What a fucking moron.

  • Funny how he omits that these rights were also TAKEN AWAY by the majority. Fucktard.

And now they have pro-business people trying to take out any mention of Cesar Chavez in the social studies curriculum.

  • And the intelligent people gave him a pointless job to make him feel good about himself.

  • There's a direct correlation between relative intelligence, poor education, and religion; empirically literal evidence.

    Retarded fucking bible belt.

  • the really disturbing thing about the tx board of education is these idiots are the largest customer for the text book industry so they are the ones who can decide to remove george washington from history books and put newt gingrich and rush limbaugh in, for the entire country.

  • What a fucking douchebag!!

  • THAT is about as backwards as it gets!!! I am never going to Texas in my life!

  • Texas is actually a great state. Too bad it gets a bad reputation because of idiots like this guy.

  • this baldy is the reason why Texas ranks next to last in education. Texas should be a powerhouse. instead it under performs.

  • I mean I get what he's saying. A white man did pass the civil rights act. Hefails to mention that a black person couldn't do it because of the long, violent history of Africans in this country. He fails to mention. And what was his point in saying this anyway?

  • Gawd almighty, this man has power over public schools? How stupid can one man be?

News flash, you sexist Mr. Whipple: We gave women the right to vote because that was sort of the ideal we set forth in THE CONSTITUTION! We freed the slaves and defeated Jim Crow laws because these institutions undermined American freedom and citizenship in the exact same way, not because white people (i.e. white MEN) decided they weren't fashionable anymore.

Where'd this fool go to college, KKK-U?

  • White man power! LOL

  • "It took the majority of w-... w-... it took the majority to do that for the minority."

(in his head: "don't say white people. don't say white people.")

  • And he kept digging that hole *without* a shovel. Impressive.

  • This works both ways. The majority should be tlankfull to minorites for the effort, and minorites should be hankfull to magorities for there effort. One cannot work without the other and it is a vital part of our social developement for the spicies.

  • clever girl

  • This is what happens when laundered money is used to jery mander voters on the Bush coat tails, racists, creationists on the school board. Texas needs some help down here America, remember that in 2010.

  • While he may be factually correct, his need to point this out makes me think that he's both a misogynist and a racist.

  • re: FortyforHim

You seem to be forgetting Brown versus Board of education.

And the executive order to have the military enforce it.

  • What an idiot. He can't even make a reasonable comment. If the minority wether women or racial minority did not protest and demanded basic equal rights;so called majority wouldn't raise a finger. This guy is an prime example of an idiot.

  • Ha Ha Ha what an idiot. One day the minority becomes the majority when people stand up and vote for change.

Not one day the white men said ok we will let blacks and chicks vote. Texas, hurry up and succeed nao, k.

  • the majority... ok

    'the minorities'... holy racist

  • he is factually correct .women didnt vote so how could they get it if a majority didnt approve it ??he didnt say mlk didnt have anything to do with it ..but when women laugh down at him the worms in this country have been PROGRAMMED to respond with ignorant quips.

  • Ouch, hehe.

  • Ya....Martin Luther King had noooooooooooothing to do w/ the Civil Rights Movement.

    ya....nothing at all.

    /sarcasmoff

  • ha like the slash command

  • I bet you if you ask this bozo, where is your ass, he will point to his mouth.

  • "Women did not vote to give "Right to vote" for women". Hey idiot, shut you big mouth.

Well Well its Texas. land of buffoons.

  • What a fucking idiot. He has no idea how much "minorities" suffered to get the tiniest changes implemented. What a bastard.

  • Here's Texas for ya!

  • classic case of inbreeding result

  • The best trolls get government jobs

  • Man, talk about an example of reverse evolution!

  • American Mentality is walking backwards and this is just one example of millions of them.

  • This man is a complete bonehead... Essentially he is saying, "Here minorities and women, the majority has held you down for so many years, and now you can thank us for taking our feet off of your throat." Fucking moron I swear.

  • Where are the day in 100 seconds videos? I'm sad, now! :'(

  • I wonder if these Board Members are actually educated.

  • I think you know the answer to that already =)

  • Texas is one fucked up place. Sorry sane Texans, but I just don't hear enough from you guys as a counter. Your state seems like a loony bin.

  • Try living here... Try becoming a certified teacher in districts where you'd best avoid being actively anti-racist at the likely cost of your job (and, isn't THAT a lovely choice in this economy--your ethics or your job?) Try watching your peers blithely and ignorantly revealing their racism without even realizing it!! Racism is fear and ignorance writ large with anger and hate. If I feel powerless to be anti-racist in this state, how must my brothers and sisters of color feel?!

  • this man is an idiot

  • I don't understand what he is trying to argue for...

  • I love how the women just kind of sit there as he tells them that men voted for their right to vote. I mean, the women's suffrage movement had nothing to do with it, right?

  • So Ladies- be sure to thank your husband when he stops beating you to a bloody pulp. Make he knows how grateful you are, k?

  • And it is still the majority that has to take care of the minority.

  • why the fuck are you showing all those texas videos? who gives a shit about that shithole? let them secede and get fucked by Mexico

  • The gentleman is a moron.

Brown v. Board of Education was a decision forced on the American people by 9 judges of the U.S. Supreme Court. There were riots, protests, governors who refused to obey, and soldiers who had to be called out to keep the peace. This was not a "majority" decision. It was a logical and righteous decision forced on an unwilling, racist majority. That is what triggered the rest of the civil rights movement.

  • Explain...

  • The gentleman was not a gentleman! >:(

  • Poor old guy. He took a line from Rush Limbaugh and sounded even more retarded than Rush does.

  • It's a good thing all the white guys finally decided that women and blacks were indeed people after all. They don't get enough thanks for that.

  • What the fuck give you the right to be a racist pile of shit?

    Fuck off, piece of shit.

  • It was Democrats who got these civil rights enacted. This guy is off his rocker.

  • Those lazy minorities, sitting around waiting for civil rights to be handed out by white men like children hoping for a Christmas morning visit from Santa Claus.

    What a fucknozzle.

I love the condescending "isn't that right, ladies?" at the end. This shit heel doesn't even realize how comical he is.

  • This guy believes himself, hilarious

  • The look on the woman's face when he brought up womens' suffrage.

  • The majority whites and men were also the problem in the first place!

  • so rid them with the black women?

People look out for themselves before they do others...not always right, but true

  • "The minorities weren't able to do it by themselves."

OBVIOUSLY. It's a democracy. You need a majority vote to pass legislation through Congress.

  • And "Civil Rights" wasn't just one bill passed through congress and *poof* everyone is equal. It's been a series of steps both in legislation and litigation while fighting an uphill battle against bullish prejudices passed from generation to generation. And It's not over yet.

  • "It took a majority of wh..." I don't think he was about to start whistling the Andy Griffith Show theme, but who knows?

  • Rewriting history... there was a guy who did that... his name...

    Eight Dolph? Hitter?

  • Uhh wasn't that majority that passed the civil rights movement pushed heavily by that minority?

Yeah, white people have helped with black civil rights and men have helped with suffrage and even straight people have helped with gay rights.

But it's intellectually dishonest to act as if the majority just gave minorities rights as if rights are a gift.

Minorities pushed for the rights they should have always had and got a lot of the majority to agree with them.

  • Uhm booley, as an old white guy, I'd love to be an apologist for the majority, but let's think back .Brown v. Board of Education, Heart of Atlanta v. United States, Twenty-Fourth Amendment, Shelly v. Kraemer, Loving v. Virginia, Jones v. Mayer Co., Roe, v. Wade.

Frankly, many civil rights advances were not won by majority, but by litigation and legislation over the majority - which is, after all, how the Constitution is actually supposed to work.

  • Yes, Massa, I sure am glad you gave me the right to vote... dickhead

  • hey, thanks, men!

  • And this even in the times when Americans actually let the KKK have rallies near the Capitol. I've actually seen video footage of it and a few pictures. I don't remember exactly when these rallies were tho, but the videos were black and white.

  • Of COURSE it took a majority to get things done like the Civil Rights Act! They had the POWER in Congress and the presidency! Doy! But none of it would've gotten done, at least not as quickly as it did, if not for the Civil Rights Movement bringing this to the leaders' attention. They would've remained woefully ignorant, with the exception of a few Northern, esp. Northeastern, more liberal politicians. Interestingly, just about all the presidents for the last 70+ have been non-racist.

  • All of them expressed interest in helping blacks and/or tried to do something. It's fascinating because even when this country's whites were very pro-segregation, we still somehow managed to elect presidents who were anti-segregation every single time for a great deal of the 20th Century. It's surprising that not one of them after at least 1932's election has been an open racist, as racist as whites have been in the past. Of course, I'm not saying it's a bad thing but quite interesting.
