If they didn't deny it, it would be like a snuff film, and could be illegal to sell or something. This myth is the biggest fail of all time. I just watched this scene with my TIVO on a 44" HD TV. When Dorthy, scarecrow, and tin man just start to skip down the yellow brick road, in the back ground is a large bird with its wings spread. As they are about to exit the scene the bird closes its wings so it is aligned with a tree. At the very end of the scene the bird spreads its left wing again ="Hanging Munchkin". There you have it.
This is actually the wrong scene. However, in this scene that is actually the Wicked Witch walking by in the background. The Munchkin Suicide is in another scene.
we watchind this movie in US today and we talked about this...the screen takes up the entire wall because its for a projector so we soomed in on it and it is in fact a bird...they thought that the scenery was to bland and boring so they randomly let exoctic animals roam around the set...its not a hanging munchkin...idk if in fact a munchkin did hang himself...but this is definately not a munckin but a large bird...

we watchind this movie in US today and we talked about this...the screen takes up the entire wall because its for a projector so we soomed in on it and it is in fact a bird...they thought that the scenery was to bland and boring so they randomly let exoctic animals roam around the set...its not a hanging munchkin...idk if in fact a munchkin did hang himself...but this is definately not a munckin but a large bird...

how can you guys think it could be a bird or a hanging person?? both are totally different. there is a bird there but someone hung themselves near the bird. the body just comes out of nowhere. it's like the bird's wing is the BODY.

Actually, the creaters of The Wizard of Oz had many large birds on the set, and it is actually a bird. Plus, this scene is before Munchkinland, so no Munchkins would be on the set.

It's just a big bird, believed to be an emu. They let birds roam around the set to give it a more outdoors realistic look.

It is not a hanging. If it were, don't you think it would swing a bit more than it does? It comes in screen then is gone again. Honestly, the first time I saw this, I was younger, I always thought it was a flying monkey spying on them. Its not a munchkin hanging, use your heads.

this scene was changed...the new verson clearly shows a bird sticking its wing out the old version shows something different..not sure if it is a hanging or not but there is a difference, why would they change it if there isnt something to it?
