Thanks for this Kevin, I have been signed up on Digg for awhile now and really not made proper use of the site - due to never stopping long enough to set up correctly.
oh nm. youre not CEO of Digg now anyway, I think bury is the main feature that users want. well at least Facebook is ok, just don't ruin that site. Venture Capital wants their cash returns, I can tell and the fact is noone in their right mind publishing small time is gonna pay for a few sponsored articles unless the price is slightly cheaper and the ability to compete against large news who will still be there regardless. a few buried articles wont hurt them if you seperate the buries from alg
... who might buy a sponsored link once in a while with a little presence ability . The large news corps would still be there even with a few bad stories buried like paris story. Just adding the bury button back alone would probably get users back. Total diggs in place of only diggs even if the number is -4 diggs because of buries. I'm sure the algorithm wouldn't need much tweaking with just adding the bury feature back. just let the bury feature be standalone to let users have a say too...
too peer-to-peer... so new users ( or users who are simply not intested in the follow feature ) have no input. As a small publisher and not just a casual reader or person who sends a cool site to look at, I would have no way of attaining any presence against large news corps. StumbleUpon uses peer to peer but still has the bury ( thumbsdown function) still in tact,. Letting casual readers bury a few bad stories of large news corps once in while allows a few smaller good stories to flourish who.
If one person RSS' it, sends it to his friends, who then digg it, it spreads to their friends who then spread it to their friends who then digg it, and push it to the new front page. This will make sites like Daily Mail, who already game the system and abuse it, abuse it even more. Congratulations on eliminating power users only to create something far, far worse, Power Sites. I can't wait until multiple users use the RSS tool to RSS the same exact site to duplicate the feed to people.
The new Digg will be majorly incorporating a social aspect yes? Well, as I am aware a lot of users (such as myself ) have an account to interact with the Digg network, but do not interact with other users (outside of the comment section), the reason for this is because I have facebook. If I feel I need to share a story, I will send it to those on my dedicated networking site (facebook, twitter, etc..).
Anyway, I've always been a fan of you K-rose, keep it up! :)
@JesseSlip Just to add, I thought about it, and removing the bridge of two sites is good. BUT I doubt all my friends on facebook will move over to Digg. Will their be a way to "merge"/"link" social networking sites and digg? Anyway, I'm done.
I like it, but it could serve to isolate groups of users and prevent showing them other related content that is not created by the people they follow.
Nice job. Makes Digg much more appealing to me now, now that digg is not just about stories of interest to 16 year old boys. (Nothing wrong with that, I was one once…but am no longer!)
It's more of a twitter now. Everything looks nice, clean design, nice css3 rounded corners and stuff, but it seems to me that original purpose of the website's gone.
@asemh technically, if pulisher auto submit their own content, there will be less available for power users to do. The biggest flaw with digg was that it has no spider mechanism, and you have to submit everything on the web. Now it can be semi-automated. Whilst it's still no spider, publishers can automate their content submission, and so power users will only be duplicating the original publishers.

It's a move towards social networking but on the whole I like. I'll still probably spend more time in the Top News section, than the my news section.

@asemh Isn't this going to stop a lot of that since it's about those who you think have the same taste as you, not who get's the most diggs.
