I will onisted I known the cover not the ablum but, this is a great exparimental music. That is is the beatles meats captain beefhead meats Sonic Youth meats almost all the beast part of fock. Over all I wise more people just listion to the album instead of just macking a meam of it.
I realized today is International Holocaust Rememberance Day. As wonderful as it is that Anne Frank's spirit lives on thorugh this album and her journal, there's still so many lives that were destroyed in the maddness whose voices will never be heard.
@Womper1992 Okay. I'll give this album another go. But it's like these, idk, cult of hipsters lauding this album. The reception it gets is kind of counter-intuitive though because those "hipsters," "music junkies," or whatever you want to call them kind of make a mockery of the album. It's a good album, but I felt that there were albums released near the end of the decade that didn't get the praise that this album got.
One must view this album totally objectively. Forget that such a thing as "Indie" ever existed, and you (as I have) will fall into that cult of hipsters worshipping this album for it's shear majesty. This is coming from a guy whose roots in music derive from Robert Johnson, Led Zeppelin, and the like... far from Indie... this album is gold. Rivals Dylan, which says a lot.
Right now, as I am typing this comment, there's an ad for a Christian dating service above the suggestion box. -ahem- IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU JJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUU CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST.
@rhcp484 I'd like to see that. I think Dubstep is one of the most sorry music genres next to screamo...I love electronic music, but that shit is just straight up gay and annoying.
@Carsonapolis The dubstep you heard was obviously all about random vocal samples, heavy bass and wobbles. Burial is NOTHING like that. If you like Electronic music (Massive Attack, Portishead, Boards of Canada etc.) at all, check out Burial.
@FrequentFly3r MY GOD YOU'RE STUPID! I like to all people names because I think my opinion is correct and theirs is wrong. Still doesn't defeat the fact that I don't like Dubstep. You're right, I shouldnt dismiss a genre, but I've listened to enough of it to think its horrible. BOOM, there's my opinion, I'm entitled to it. I just think its a bunch of annoying noise. Screamo is a genre look it up, some people call it 'hardcore' still shitty nonetheless. We can all agree NMH is the shit though.
It's not the indie album of all indie albums, but,it is a GREAT FUCKING RECORD that deserves much praise!!!Guided By Voices are the lo-fi indie kings!!!!!!!!!!
Now I don't want to come off as a troll to y'all, but I don't get the hype about this album? The reception for this album was great. This brought up my attention, so I listened to it, but I really don't understand all the thumbs about this. Now don't get me wrong, this album is pretty good, but nowhere near the 10/10 and the A+'s I see it get. Can someone explain this too me? Sounds like boring acoustic passages and cheesy Lo-Fi lyrics imo.
Lo-fi isn't for everyone I guess, the reason I like it is this very fuzzy but yet very clear sound, the warm bowed bass, the big and chunky acoustic guitar, the sparse but spastic drumming, the amazing horn arrangements, and the surrealist lyrics that are woven by Jeff's unique nasal but powerful voice. The thing I like most is how the lyrics, even with their obsurdity, are so vivid and imaginative. It's also really cohesive without being repetative, and has this very grand feel to it. I like it
@foreveralwaysalone I am a hardcore rap fan and i can tell you that this album absolutely is the most amazing thing i have ever heard in my life. I am the opposite of a hipster. this is the shit. you gtfo
@foreveralwaysalone judging by your username, i guess we can classify you as emo? ... classifications are fucking bullshit just be yourself. It's good music who cares who you are.
I just listened through this album for the first time. I was a bit iffy on the whole thing, till I got to the last song, then I decided I wasn't going to listen to it anymore. Then I got to the very last two words.
this album has a hypnotic nature to it. It doesn't sound like the greatest album you've ever heard, yet you simply can't stop listening, and then you start to wonder if it is the greatest album you've ever heard.
@StaticBunnyStudios I think he's right, a lot of people acknowledge NMH as an important indie band, but sometimes its just them saying that to fit in with the rest of the indie rock folks. I don't think that's the sort of credit this album deserves, its exactly what Indie Rock should be, its willing to do anything to get its message across, look at how involved Mangum was throughout its development. This is a legendary album Anne Frankly people should appreciate it more. (That was a dirty joke)
@themadmoose245 With you there. I don't call myself a dubstep fan by any means, and James Blake is probably my favorite musician of 2011. Quite possibly the best live show I've ever seen.
One of the greatest albums in the history of ever. Thank you so much for posting it in its entirety, so that long-time fans of the album, who've memorized every perfectly placed nook and cranny and every beautiful peak, can enjoy it, as well as so people who've never heard it before can hear all the songs in their correct contexts. Now that I'm on the subject, thanks for posting all these albums in their entirety, man. That's a really, really cool thing to do.
