I get both sides of the argument, the makers of this game understood that this scenario is absolutely horrible, it's MEANT to make you uncomfortable and to send a message about issues of morality, the evils of war, etc. My problem is- kids don't care, they aren't thinking about the ethics of war, they're having fun blowing civilians up at an airport. just because peoples like to do this in games, that doesnt mean that they would do that in reality! Because i already used migs with napalm against civilians in strategy games, that doesnt mean that if i was a general or a commander in reality, i would order my forces to kill civilians. This is desensitization at its finest... I still cannot believe kids even play this crap. I'm a teenager and I hate this stuff. I used to play it, but my eyes were opened. Wow i never knew such outrage could come out of such a simple mission. In my personal opinion there's nothing wrong with this, and it is very real and out there. This could happen, and IW took what most people fear since 2001, and threw it in their faces. This was a very brave step by the developers and i dont see anything wrong with the mission itself. Not that shooting hundreds of civilians is a good thing, its just really fuckin fun.

If u played the game then you would know that in this level you are undercover. You are private allen. This is like a test to show your loyalty to Makarov. If you havent played the game, Makarov kills you to make it look like it was Americans that killed all of the civvies (russians) to start a war. Lots of twists in this game as well.

I get both sides of the argument, the makers of this game understood that this scenario is absolutely horrible, it's MEANT to make you uncomfortable and to send a message about issues of morality, the evils of war, etc. My problem is- kids don't care, they aren't thinking about the ethics of war, they're having fun blowing civilians up at an airport. Hopefully parents are monitoring the preteens and even young teens.
I'm more of a old-school adventure game (and Mario) fan anyway.

I played this. I was actually shocked by what was going on and I've played games since the Atari days. I was quite confused by what i was supposed to do until my friends explained it to me.

To be fair, they do limit your moving speed so you cannot go on a running shooting spree but who needs to. That gun the character is holding has 100+ rounds.

This is likely the ballsiest move I've ever seen a game company make. Just, wow... I have to admit that I'm impressed they took such a risk. Honestly, the scene wouldn't have even been a quarter as effective if they had just made it a cut scene so I applaud them for taking this narrative risk. Little kids won't know the difference, it's how these kids get recruited into the military.
When they go into real battle they think it's a video game, and try to be gung ho, then get slapped with Reality.

War and Violence Is a Nightmare, I stopped playing video games in late of 2008, except i don't mind a card game here and there.
