  • that was a cool televison show

  • Great show!! I'm happy to announce that season 3 will be released on April 10, 2012.

  • Yes, this opening theme always creeped me out too. I always imagined the faces shown were people driven mad by the paintings.

  • The Cemetary has to be one of the scariest things ever on t.v. You can't beat a good ghost story.

  • I don't remerber a lot about the shows...all I remember was the intro scared the crap out of me when I was a kid!!

  • Optimus that was my favorite too! Everytime they would look at the picture at the botom of the stairs it was changed, until the old man was knocking at the door to get his greedy relative played by Roddy McDowell.

  • As a child I tried to be sleep before the opening theme would come on because it would scare the sh#$t outta me. I love the show but even to this day on DVR I have to fastforward past the theme song and I don't watch it at night!

  • Universal needs to release Season 3 on DVD. It's way overdue!!!

  • I am 48 and watched this show when I was 8 thru 11. This intro STILL put shivers up my spine!!!!! Some of the episodes were very disturbing. Even by todays standards.

  • fdon't watch this on lsd

  • This show used to scare the hell out of me ,god how we enjoyed it.

  • Oh, I remember this scary music as a child..

  • Classic show (at least until it turned into all ESP all the time).

  • TVLand Sucks!I don't even watch it anymore.

  • best intro ever !!!!!

  • Man, this music used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. I loved this show. Anyone remember the episode called "Green Fingers" with Elsa Lanchester? Best episode ever! It gave me nightmares for years.

  • who the fuck would dislike this video???? like why

  • my favorite episode was the one about a painting that showed a old man dead, then burried in a cemetary, then riseing from the grave and knocking on the door of the house and the guy went crazy at the end,, blurry memory of it........ so long ago, seen it as a child. I think Rodney McDowld (from planet of the apes) was in it. ...

  • @OptimusPrimus001 .....That was in the Pilot episode; the segment was called "The Cemetary," and yes, Roddy McDowall was in it.

  • @OptimusPrimus001

Yeah he was in it! It was the pilot for the series! Look up Night Gallery pilot her on YouTube and you can get the creeps watching it all over again!

  • 1 of the best intros ever.

  • Thumbs up if you came across "Night Gallery" due to The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horrors"

  • 0:04

I think that's the Englishman who went into the noonday sun one too many times.

  • I thought "The waiting room" was an awesome episode, starring Steve Forrest and Buddy Ebsen

  • You are right how come they don't show Night gallery anymore??/

  • When I was a kid, this intro used to give me the creeps and was my signal that it was bedtime. I did manage to see a few episodes around holidays. One such episode, I caught really spooked me and I always left the light on when I went to bed. It was a scene with a people participating in a seance and a woman's head floated in the room.

  • @HobbsBhipp I'll one up you on that. There was an episode where I can't remember the whole story cause I was 6 at the time but it was a beach and a couple had drowned and returned and they was glow in the dark silver color and walked the beach at night..I had nightmares, and Mom and Dad wouldn't let me see it no more :(

  • Rod Serling ... simply brilliant !!!!!

  • NOTHING COULD BEAT NIGHT GALLERY!!!!

  • They need to release Season 3 of Night Gallery!!!!

  • One of the best intros in horror shows. My dad rents the season sets of Night Gallery. They have been beautifully restored. We have season 1 on DVD. I wish that there were shows like this today, or even around in the 90's when i was a kid. Now its just reality show garbage.

  • @PearlJammer07 Let me tell you that this show used to scare the h***out of me in the 70's. Every time I heard that opening theme I became glued to the set. I still remember those episodes from childhood because the show was so, (obviously), well written.

    cheers!

  • Season one & two are on DVD legally. But season 3 is so short will they bother to release it?

  • favorite show

  • This how scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid.

  • Probably the best series of it's kind ever to air on television. It's so sad that Universal squeezed-out Rod Serling in the last season. Without him running it, it was naturally cancelled.

  • aa que tiempos aquellos recuerdo que era un niño y la miraba todo tenebroso jajajja asi casita con mis manos pero ahi estaba mirado jejejejeje.

  • Does the intro remind anybody else of the Outer Limits?

  • Hum retro tv never heard of it. I've always loved this show & seeing it now.

  • when I was little, this show was terrifying! Don't remember the title but the scariest one ever involved Roddy McDowell, an old painting, a grave and a wager...anyone remember the title???

  • @wordygrrl That was called The Cemetary and it was from the Night Gallery movie 1969: you're in luck, it's here on youtube! and I agree, this one scared the absolute crap out of me when I was 9! Made me very nervous to fall asleep, but I kept coming back for more!

  • I recognize the stars. I don't remember the episode title but the story was of three people running a fake seance and one of them dies and comes to the seance as a smoking spirit.

  • Actually, the Retro T.V. Show channel does show episodes of this around 1:00 a.m. some nights--you can watch it there. This show used to scare the hell out of me when I was little and watching it on Channel 20 in Detroit on Saturday afternoons and at midnight. Always loved the theme song because it's genuinely creepy as hell--it's right up there with the other great horror T.V. show themes like the ones for the the Twilight Zone and The Night Stalker (two other longtime favorite shows of mine).

  • The intros pretty satanic but you have to realize many in hollywood were and are steeped in the occult. And that gal at 18 seconds looks like shes tripping her brains out. For real!

  • My favorite Night Gallery episode was Last Rites for a dead Druid starring Bill Bixby It scared the shit out of me when I watched it (age 7)

  • what year was this first aired

  • @jacksnack1111 This show premiered in 1970. The pilot for this show aired in 1969.

  • Awesome!! i used to get SO scared when the intro came on!!! I loved this show when i was a kid!!!

  • Rod Serling's Planet of the Apes film discussed in great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible LIfe) at amazon!

  • it somehow repudiates the nonscencesiscle conumdrums that await the allegoricall maddness that it would pertain to itself therein.

  • LOL!!! HUH? LOL!!!

  • Dude! I have no idea what you just said, but it made my day because it literally made me cry of laughter all day, thanks for that

  • Dude fix the audio! its too low and its' only coming in on one side of the speaker

  • When I was a kid this and the intro to tales from the darkside used to scare the shit out of me!

  • Muchas grasias por los recuerdos de un autentico clasico.

  • This was Twilight Zone colorized... lol

  • This show use to really scare me when I was a child!

  • wow! flashback to childhood.

    thanks for the post!

  • Me Tv and Me Too have old tv shows and old commercials though.

  • If you grew up in the 60s, then you most likely recognize the announcer's voice. That was Mike Road, aka "Race Bannon" on THE ADVENTURES OF JONNY QUEST.

  • Ha! You're totally right. ... I didn't grow up in the 60s, but I loved old cartoons like that when I was a kid. My mom taught me well. :-)

  • I always loved that music.

  • It has a nightmarish surreality, like the Roger Corman/Edgar Allen Poe/Vincent Price Movies. Even eerier that Serling's earlier work 'The Twilight Zone'

  • My Comment about the theme music to Night of the Living Dead was directed in response to a question asked by JaredLover99, who asked if anyone else knew of any other scary theme music. I hope this posting will clarify that, so it makes more sense. Thanks, Mike in Fresno, Ca.

  • what is rtn?

  • Retro Television Network.

It plays a bunch of shows from the

60's, 70's and 80's. Shows like Airwolf, The A-Team, Night Rider, The Alfred Hitchock Hour, Night Gallery, Bonanza etc etc etc. The olnly thing missing is old school commercials. Man that would kick ass!

  • Night Gallery is being run on the RTN network every night now..at midnight naturally. If you were a scared little kid like I was years ago it will bring back memories. It is STILL a very creepy show!!

  • I love RTN!

  • Most shows like NG are using speedup credits...which sucks!!

  • Everything about that series was scary, even the theme song. Too bad the show only lasted only three seasons. It could have lasted at least two more.

  • Oh this is so bad. My parents used to watch this....this music STILL scares the shit out of me.

Was there an episode of this show that shows a severed hand walking on it's fingers through a house?

  • you might be thinking of Dr Terror's house of Horror, the christopher lee part about the art critic who gets what he deserves!

  • Yeah I grew up watching this show and the theme and visuals still give me creeps..very effective even to this day!

  • Spooky music!

This one...and Dark Shadows were great spooky themes....does anyone remember other scary T.V. theme music?

  • Creature Feature? Or um....... Screaming Yellow Theatre?

  • Yes. Definitely.. The uncredited theme music on the original version of Night Of The Living Dead. The first time they showed that one night on Creature Feature in the late 70's Dad and I was watching it- needless to say that show scared the living BeJesus out of me including the theme music. I never knew who exactly orchestrated the score for that movie, but it sounded like it could have been Dominic Frontiere, the man responsible for the theme to The Outer Limits. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

  • I just watched this show for my first time tonight i watched the since aunt ada came to stay episode n even though that shit was made back in the 70's it was scary n trippy

  • Why the hell doesn't the TVLand channel show stuff like this? I'm sure more people would rather see "Night Gallery" and other shows from the seventies than the endless reruns of "Leave It To Beaver" and "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Cosby."

  • @cynthiacher Retro TV has it on.Great show!

  • @cynthiacher

I agree with you very much on this. I went on the Tv land, and SyFi web site to try and post about this and ask them if they could possiably show some of these older shows, among others. I to am tired of the same old shows that they have been showing for how many years now? I could not find anything on the sites to post my question. I remember watching this show as a kid.

  • @cynthiacher Not to mention Threes Company and Good Times ( two "classic" shows I've always hated !! ). I recall that Sci-Fi Channel was showing Night Gallery a while back, but even THAT channel sucks now !

  • @Skulldini Yeah, even though Three's Company was from a golden age of sitcoms, it was very cheesy. Yup, SyFy is garbage now.

  • @cheapcape Oh ya, one other old show they still run on SyFy is Twilight Zone. Apart from that and Tales From The Dark Side it's all their shitty new "original" programs.

  • @Skulldini Yeah SyFy still runs them, but they hack them up and inject tons of annoying ads, so I don't even bother watching. The Internet and Netflix are basically what I watch now.

  • @Skulldini Indeed, aren't those original shows pure dreck or what?

  • @cheapcape They certainly are! With that Stargate and Ghostchaser swill,.. plus they show a ton of infomercials! TNT is another once cool station thats gone to shit,.. that ones practicaly the Law And Order Channel anymore!

  • @cynthiacher One older show which Sci-fi does still run, however, is Tales From The Darkside,.. which is pretty similar to this show in format ( though not quite as good I dont think ).

  • SIFI did but now they play their own crap from their own production company that thinks everyone wants to see but they don't.

  • @PupuTheClown Very true. SyFy went into a crap hole when NBC took over, just like the USA Network did when NBC took them over.

  • @cynthiacher TVLand sucks now because of all the ads and endless back-to-back shows. Not to mention they butcher programs so you only see about 75% of them. Indeed, Night Gallery should return.

  • @cynthiacher Copyrights and Loyalites I'm sure, in answer to your question. Night Gallery is too thought-provoking nowadays, and that is scary enough!

  • @cynthiacher i love night gallery, but don't be running down the cleavers! LITB is my all time favorite show.

  • @cynthiacher It's because of lawyers and the money to be made on DVD.

  • @cynthiacher RTV has the rights to this show, as well as Dragnet and Adam-12

  • @cynthiacher They don't even show anything good anymore. Now they have movies and original shows. TV is such crap now.

  • @gritnom There needs to be a channel that airs shows from the 60s through 80s. No 90s and 2000s.

  • @ClassicTVful Well, early 90s had good shows. I just wish channels that claim to be about classic television should only play classic television. TVLAND doesn't show much anymore. They have new crap and show movies. Chiller used to show Night Gallery, but stopped.

  • use to be left alone as at night as a kid-always hoped to fall asleep before tv whenoff and the indian would come on-this show would come on and then the show "tommorrow" then the national anthem and then the end od tv

  • i used to have nightmares about this show!!

  • Man, I used to love watching this with my sisters when we were kids. I scared me to death!!!

  • i used to watch this with my grandma a whole while ago.. when i was lil.. and damn! That, was horror. loved those times.

  • This show scared the crap out of me when I was five but I LOVED it!!!

  • This show along with Ghost Story and the Sixth Sense scared the crap out of me...oh, and I can't forget Dark Shadows during the afternoon...yikes...

  • I loved this show as a kid. In a way it was sort of a kids show in spite of itself.

  • This was a terrible show. It had few great episodes but most were forgettable. Serling should've been given absolute control of this series so it could've been gold like it's older Twilight Zone sibling.

  • It was not "terrible"! It was uneven, but much of it was very well done, even on a limited budget. Plenty of people have never forgotten certain episodes of this show, it was so effective.

  • that's it. I just crapped my pants...

  • This scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid!!! OMFG!!!

  • when I was child this intro makes feel like a chicken....scare me pretty much..

  • The blond girl at 0:02 would FREAK me OUT!!!!!

  • hee bee gee beeS? More like poopie in panties!

  • The Best!

  • this intro caused me many nightmares as a little kid.Still gives me the HEEBEE JEEBEES

  • It made me go to bed with a straight face.

  • i would love to watch this show when i was a kid...but for some reason...i just couldnt watch the beginning...the song always scared the crap out of me...and you know what...it still does..

  • ,,yeah me to, & it was dark outside when it came on !,,better not look out the window.

  • If I've said this before I've said it a billion times, Rod Serling was a genius.

  • I couldn't agree with you more modsleix6! The only problem is that I've seen so many episodes of 'The Twilight Zone' that I know the plot outcomes even before the episode finishes! :-P

  • same, that happened to me too. it ruins the episodes.

  • I agree leechproject! Sometimes I pretend that I don't know what's going to happen in order to try to trick myself. Sadly, this doesn't always seem to work!

  • I'm a HUGE Rod Serling fan! Rod Serling was an incredibly gifted writer and WAY ahead of his time. He really had his finger on the pulse of human nature.

Even in his Twilight Zone series, he tackled intense subjects such as racism and religious predjudice, way before anyone else would even dare to touch these issues.

I always had the impression that this man was always thinking and always creating in his head, even before he put it all down on papter. A beautiful mind. Peace.

  • i think its a night gallery eposoide called the flip side of satan

  • the tune in dan's cafe is the eposoide you are talking about its up

  • classic

  • Rod Serling realized that the Luistania was a more important ship than the Titanic as a TZ ep was abouta man going back in time to try to stop the Lusitania from getting torpedoed as in that ep Serling wrote that the Lusitania brought the US into World War One. The Titanic sinking brought no country into anything.

PS I know a NG ep by Rod S. was about the Titanic (and other ships) but he didn't give the Titanic importance he gave the Luistania (he put the Lusitania on par with Hiroshima).

  • so fucking scary when i was littleLove this, and love THE EASTER BUNNY IS EATING MY CANDY is the scariest/funniest fucking thing on youtube.

  • Isn't Rod Serling in here???

  • my fav show seen em all at least twice

  • My mom loved all this 1960's-1970's supernatural evil sh*t. I'd watch it with her and get freaked right the hell out. Hella scary!! Other scary shows... Ghost Story/Circle of Fear, One Step Beyond, and The Outer Limits. Oh and of course Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

  • my favorite episode was the one where the old man told two

young boys to dig in a certain place out under an old tree and

they would find a "surprise". they went out and dug and dug

and finally one of the boys gave up and decided to go home.

the other said "o.k. but you don't get to share" and he kept

digging. finally, just about sunset, the boy that was digging

hit something !! he started to quickly sweep away the dirt to

get to the buried box and then the old man popped out and

    SURPRISE !!!

  • Hey do you remember that old 70s movie with about 4 stories in it, one had a hole in the ground with fog comming out of it and horrible ghostly noises comming out of it, one night someone ran out and into it and they were eternally freaked out, also the one with highschool kids who played a prank on a fellow student, he died & at the funeral the mother placed a curse on them like a witch, also another story about something in the basement that made horrid noises at night, scary stuff made u ****

  • I don't remember the exact movie you are talking about. Sounds like one of those CreepShow movies or possibly some

thing along those lines. I am trying to remember a movie about some WWII guys whose plane crashes in the desert (it is

NOT Flight of the Phoenix) and spend time trying to figure out

how they are going to survive. One by one they start to disappear and the rest start to freak out. At the end, the

twist was that they were all ghosts and as the bodies were

    recovered, they disappeared

  • Well that also sounds kinda like the old Bermuda Triangle movie.

  • the movie I am thinking of was in the desert - Bermuda

Triangle is ... uuhhhmmm ... in the ocean ???

  • creative the movie you are talking about is Encounter with the unknown made around 73 its on youtube

  • this was such a cool show.

  • The episode I remember the most ( I was 10 yrs old) was one that had a little mouse brooch that a girl couldn't get off her jacket and it kept getting bigger and bigger and finally killed her. Creepy as hell.

  • bloodfeast

  • God this show scared me!!!

so did THE EASTER BUNNY IS EATING MY CANDY - also on YOUTUBE SCARY SCARY SCARY like this was!!!!

  • Yes I remember Friday hights at 10 PM we'd watch NG at our sleepover. Very scary when your 7 or 8. That was when we had to catch the signal over the air.

  • The music alone would flip me out..

  • night gallery! one of the best shows of all time.

  • Freaky show from a freaky time! Gotta love it!

  • I loved this show! Yes, it was pretty freaky to a kid back then. I loved Twilight Zone too, but this was darker and more disturbing. Seeing this now, it's amazing I didn't have more nightmares back then! Awesome post!

  • This show was way more frightening than The Twilight Zone.

  • Me and my little sister would cuddle up on our beds with the covers pulled up around us, cause we knew we were gonna get the crap scared out of us. The music alone freaked us out, but we loved it!

  • When I was a child,Mom and Dad didn't let me see N.G.

My oldest Brother and Sister could see it,only.

They used to tell me it was a very scary show, and I shouldn't see it,if I didn't want to have some nightmares.

    I never saw it!!

  • This is Rod Serling's "Night Gallery" was a great show. I remember this show from the early 70's. It ranks up there with "Twilight Zone". The music was chilling. Too bad the series didn't last long. Rod Serling was a genius.

  • hahaha steve lawrence

  • Night Gallery, this is my favorite TV horror series of all time, although the opening scared the crap out of me as a kid (with the creepy music, scary faces and the big eyeball at the end)! Too bad this didn't receive as much credit as The Twilight Zone. This was just as great! RIP Rod Serling! Thanks for posting this clip!

  • Scared the hell out of me as a kid!The best TV horror series ever!

  • OMG! This scared the crap out of me when I was a kid and I will never forget it!!!!!!! I can barely stand to watch it or hear that music even now!!!!!!!

  • great

  • This show fucked me up. My folks always went out and left me home alone on Fridays at 10:00.

  • OMG! It scared the crap out of me and I will never forget it!!!!!!!

  • Ahhhh sweet memories!!

I watched this with my old man, when I was aboot 3 & 4. Fuck Roomper RooM, bring on the horror!!

  • A good show, not as freaky as "The Twilight Zone" but still pretty good.

The one that always sticks in my head is the one were the Nazi death camp guard played by Richard Kiley and he keeps going back to a painting of a serene fisherman in a lake and he actually goes into the painting...later while being chased by people that recognise him he goes back to the gallery to "escape"...but there was a twist!

  • This is my favourite show of all the times. Rod Serling was a genius.

  • I love this show.
