Hear The entrance of the bass on this song. Utter brilliant. It will rock the house down. Gr8 punk british band & this is my favourite Undertones track.
I don't want to get too political but they were from Northern Ireland which is still part of the UK. But British is the wrong term, as Northern Ireland isn't part of Great Britain. But anyone from Northern Ireland competing in the Olympics will be competing for Great Britain ! But that's the British Olympic Committee's fault.
@roddy76to86 they regard themselves are Irish, as for the Olympics people from the north of Ireland mostly compete for Ireland, except for runners who have the choice of either Ireland or Britain.Think you will find the only divided sport in Ireland is football. But it is true we should not get political over great music, or sport for that matter.
Indeed, they called (London) Derry (which I've always thought would be a good compromise for the name of the city in print) "Derry", not "Londonderry". But I can't see any protestant competing for anything for Ireland ! Oh, except Rugby. So you presumably mean catholics from Northern Ireland. I didn't know that was the way it worked. You learn something new every day !
Oh dear, I have got political. But in a light hearted manner I hope.
@roddy76to86 the term london in Derry was adopted by unionist council in Derry even though they were the minority. They could do this by gerrymandering. In fact people from the north of Ireland represent Ireland regardless of their religion, if you remember wayne mccullough a protestant from the shankill rd in Belfast, carried the Irish flag at the start of the Olympics in 1992.
I'm well aware that before the "Troubles" there had been decades of misconduct by the Northern Ireland Parliament, Government, and local authorities in favour of Protestants. This was a great mistake by the UK Governments during this period. They didn't pay any attention, and so didn't take any action to stop it. If they had, the "Troubles" could have been avoided.
