White has exactly 0 (ZERO) knowledge of newaza. When faced with someone well-versed in it as the girl blue (GOOD JOB!) a poorly trained Judoist which lacks ground skills is helpless. I can't believe that she tried to STAND to defend a juji-gatame!!! Where is Judo going? Newaza can't be neglected, Olympic Judo is but a shadow of the true power of Judo.

Kosen Judo is not a martial art, it is another set of rules under which high-school Kodokan Judo competitions took place. So, all we would need in a perfect, non-olympic world would be good and old Kodokan Judo taught properly (50% newaza at least).... Cheers!

I wish it were that easy.  But you can find a BJJ school in every major city. Where can you find kosen judo. (I'll give you a hint... it doesn't exist outside of Japan)

@judopathoftruth I would, but I've never seen a Kosen Judo school in the U.S. anywhere, much less in Atlanta, Georgia. Whereas there's BJJ schools everywhere.

@ivodossantos Ivo, of course she has some level of newaza, but it is very, very poor. Unfortunately you can be a successful competitor in Judo nowadays without high-level of newaza. I've sparred with some of the men from the Brazilian Judo team, and also with one from the German team when the world cup took place here in Rio. Even the men don't have newaza on the level one would expect form a top level Judoka. Boehm did childish mistakes on this fight. Watch it again.

@loudenvier I find it hilarious that you are telling Ivo what it's like to spar with international Judo players when Ivo has competed internationally for years upon years and is going to the Olympics AGAIN this year. I think he'd know better.
