  • I watched this video 10 times in one day - yes that does sound beutifully sad, much like the song.

  • I came here because of GT

  • Parts of this reminds me of the Dural theme from Virtua Fighter 2 (Message From The Dark)

  • Gran turismo intro

  • beutiful cherry blossom

  • @1:32...,hes look alike mark wahlberg

  • GRAN TURISMO !

  • This Tsunami, Design for life and you stole the sun are some of the best songs ever written why are the manics so underrated?

  • @mrmojorisin291278

Because they are not aware of them sadly, also the vast majority of people who consume music are meat sacs...

Consider yourself lucky you found them....you are enlightened!

  • I love this song, I love tha manics

  • on Radio 1, Mark Ratcliffe said that...this was the best song he knew with strings on!!!

  • @hyllaf In the days when Radio 1 was actually worth listening too. I had a soul-destroying job at the time, and Mark & Lard preserved my sanity.

  • Rinckenbacker!!Greatest bass ever!!

  • i look to the future it makes me cry

  • i think 24 people should go

  • God, how I long for the 90's...

  • Where are they now? This music dragged me through school...

  • @Manckaiser

Still playing away. I'm going to see them in May. It's 13 years since I first saw them, and they have never let me down. Always a great show.

  • FREE'D AS EVENTUALLY, JUST NEED TO BE HAPPY, HAPPY!

  • Thanks for the video. A good bittersweet song

  • WOW! is this song in Gran Turismo 1 ? :O

  • @peltsi40 Sure is. ^_^

Well, the Chemical Brothers remix of it, anyway.

  • I saw the Manics at the Albert hall in 1996 or 97 and never knew of them before, GREAT.

  • I thought for awhile it was a female singing, how wrong was I! lol

  • this and the chemical brother remix is EXCELLENT!!!!

  • chemical brothers mix is spot on

  • 22 dislikes this is a outrage

  • @itnice2 too.fucking.right! deaf dumb and blind people hitting random keys on the computer? or is this the net product of a room full of monkey and a keyboard instead of a typewriter? fuk knows but even 1 dislike is just wrong!

  • I will always be proud to have known James for years. He is a thoroughly nice guy, and is still the same humble person he was before he became famous. Good luck forever Jamesy boy.

  • I love the strings in this song!!!

I wish i'd got into these guys a lot sooner than what i did. But i tell you seeing them live is truly an unforgettable experience!!!

  • @Gemmacky I have and met Richey,he was very shy,and seemed very distant and detached.I thought it was drugs but realise now

    that it was depression.

  • saw them in serbia, exit 2009, and toronto, october 2009. fucking amazing.

  • When, oh when, will I see them live?

  • if you don't like it, GO!! if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it!! some people admire this guy/band, and another thing, take your political/religious views to another effing place xx

  • There is an element of truth Daveman in what you say. Communism is in the best interest of every capitalist. It's called Global corperatism in other words global fascism. To ignore history is somewhat foolish. However it's a great song and made with the best intentions

  • @ClassNav yeah what you said mate

  • first time I am hearing this band. Can someone please message me with like a list of their albums and top ten songs or some such thing. Love this song :)

  • @LotuSymmetry Try the bands official website, it'll give you a list of everything they've ever released

  • @davefman1984 So pathetic...A big big lie...You should tell that, to those children who work 18 hours a day in China, India e.t.c and after having worked all of their life, they will die in poverty...

Lazy are the capitalist who sits in their offices in wall street... I feel sorry for you...

    You 're so wrong....

  • Christians should not be divided into divisions or denominations. The bible says that we should all speak the same thing.

  • Thumbs up if you think on the Intro of Gran Turismo 1 :D

  • @DerGeckarbor dam you beat me to it, so the first thing i thought of

  • Not too keen on this one, the chorus sounds a bit too happy pop rock for my tastes.

  • These street preachers have a rockin choir band. Anyone know what church they play in?

  • suicide of singer made even this crappy band popular

  • @liekkis he wasnt the singer, never let the facts get in the way of a good case of spitting bile though

  • I hope you come to Brasil! @elicamagalhaes

  • Not heard The Manics for a while. Still sound good :)

  • The leafless cherry,

    Old as a toothless woman,

    Blooms in flowers,

    Mindful of its youth.

  • They're coming to Hull on Tuesday 5 October!!!! My daughter and husband have tickets to go and see them!!!!

  • @creamskunk - yes, yes it is!!

  • Finally, ive stumbled across music thats not shallow and morally disgraceful, how decent. Akon, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, 50-cent, ect, these "artists" make music because it makes money, not because it has genuine value, capitalism is ok but it certainly has its flaws.

  • @Interioroutbreak69 @Interioroutbreak69 Capitalism is not OK it is slowly destroying the planet. It is not free it is regulated, it is a leviathan that has grown legs and arms, it is consequentially littered with contradictions. I hope one day it will kill people at 'arms' length to often and people will unite for once and all. denounce money in all its forms live off the planet with grace and honour. Peace be with you my friend...

  • @jimmarruk You are forgetting one important reality. PEOPLE ARE IMPERFECT. world harmony is impossible for that reason. we can only hope to get along as we seek our own self interest. Capitalism works to this strength. when people act responsibly, capitalism can provide endless opportunities for success and prosperity. in any case, world wide prosperity is only possible when everyone pulls there weight and works to succeed. people are lazy by nature. good luck on forcing millions to work

  • awesome song and band I'm so looking forward to seeing them live next month :)

  • I SAW A GUY DO THIS IN THE THATCHED HOUSE ON MOSTON LANE HE WAS GREAT

  • I SAW A GUY DO THIS IN THE THATCHED HOUSE ON MOSTON LANE HE WAS GREAT

  • if only music today had soul and substance like the manics have, glad i stay away from that radio 1 and mainstream in general these days, music for the jelly brained.

  • Love this song sooo much. I'd bet its brilliant seeing them live.

  • this video made me laugh

  • Class band...gonna see them this month xx

  • 2:54 reminded me of Richey :'(

  • :-) no poszę ... chyba i chemical brothers "zabralo sie" za ten kawałek.

  • Its only bands like the MANICS and EARTH CULTURE that really kick ass these days!

  • @vom1966 Well hey check out the Noisettes...

  • love the noisettes!

  • @vom1966 that's lame - ever listen to Rammstein ?

  • khaki steet preachers?

  • a good gutsy rock number that makes you proud to be british. i like the rolling drums and wall of sound of guitars. there's something sad about this song despie it being uptempo and loud........

  • @naughtyboymessiah thats what makes the manics soooo gud mate

  • @naughtyboymessiah cathc yourself on you nob, what the fuck does that song make u proud to be british. get a grip you fucking asshole

  • @ohahmcgrath lol what a surprisingly abusive response to a positive and innoccous comment. meh. never mind.

  • @naughtyboymessiah

It has a certain "gallows humor" to it. Pissing yourself laughing in the face of your exicutioner.

  • i have this album. havent heard this in yonks. I think that there was a massive fallout between richey edwards and the rest of the group. everything must go was the result. they wanted to move forward and they became a hugely successful commercial band after everything must go. if you look at the cover of the album. the three remaining members are in framed photograhs on a bottom shelf. the top shelf is empty.......

  • This was released shortly after richey disappeared......they won many brits with this album...

  • sometimes with bands who are about to become global band members panic about such things and get really stressed. that happened to Bill Berry a founder member of REM. He left the band after collapsing after a gig in Zurich. Stipey made a documentary out of it. which I saw and I was like oh micheal stop being such a drama queen. I read in a book about rem. that there was a lot of tension in the band. berry hated travelling.

  • yeah, same thing happened with John Frusciante of the chili peppers....He ended up quitting and becoming a reclusive drug addict before his friends saved him and threw him in rehab..

  • @sparhawk1975

that documentary about richeys disapperance was one of the most haunting things I saw at that time. cutting words into your arm is symptomatic of not being in a very happy place but why? that is something we will never know....

  • They didn't fall out Richey just went missing and they knew they had to carry on but they knew there music had to change.

  • mmm...this is the first song ive ever heard by these guys! And i like! :D lol

  • lucky you! there's shit tons of other great and better ones to be discovered; they've been around for almost 25 years and their sound has changed a lot over the years, and different people have different preferences. but this is off a very good album of the same name (everything must go) and is my second favourite

  • just need to be happy... happy!

  • missed this song, reminds me of high school memory =)

  • This a message to Nicky Wire...That the band had to carry on..

  • it was written by nicky wire. I think you mean richey edwards.

  • I grew up with this song, I can't think of many more that I would like to have grown up with.

  • GRAN TURISMO ! :D

  • mmm sounds very similar to kevn carter

  • Huh?

  • Gran Turismo :D

  • fucking soooo good

  • Arguably the best song they have done. :0)

  • Yes, very arguably....

Hasn't anyone heard Drug Drug Druggy!?

  • great song and the inspiration for the intro to gran turismo 1.

  • Glad your Generation appreciates this Ciaran instead of the Shite we are fed in the Charts these Days. Classic Band, 90's Great Era for Brit/Pop/Indie scene :-)

  • this came out 3 weeks before i was born and i think its a wonderful song.

  • I'm a Brit in the USA. Saw them in Seattle. 3 feet from the stage. I still can't quite believe it.

  • @WarriorMartyn I'm a Brit and I saw them in Vancouver like the night before Seattle. Leaning against the stage at James' feet. Same feelings :P

  • @markdr123

I had it in mind, briefly, to get closer to the feet of the maestro but did not want to appear even slightly sad, so remained at a suitable "distance' from the stage.

Did any of Mr Bradfield's sweat land on you?

  • @WarriorMartyn you lucky bastard

  • @Fgh2rvb. I thought so. The idea that I'd only ever have seen them on a big screen at the side of a stage at some festy was ever present. I guess there were around 200 people in the room and a good many of them were Brits (You could tell by the accents) but a huge number of the Americans "knew all the words", so audience participation was enthusiastic and competent.

  • @WarriorMartyn that was a fucking amazing show.....got to meet james and nicky. sept 21 will always be a kind of religious holiday now...!!!

  • Well I consider this good music you can't really compare stuff like this to Joy divison or tupac (as much as I love them both) you just have to keep an open mind and stuff and just listen to it instead of waiting to be impressed Manic street preachers are very good if you give them a chance but if still despite this you don't find them intresting you can always try Blur or Eels

  • try the holy bible

  • I LOVE THIS. the manics are so 90's. i remember when my parents were stoned outta their minds with this playin, and my dad was brin extremely domesticly violent to my mum by piling all the sofa cusions on her on the floor, then tasking pics. GOOD FUCKIN TIMES!!

    lol

  • omg ur family needs help

  • they never got it and now it's completely fucked up. i think you need help too thinkin you;re better than other ppl darlin, when there is always someone betta than u:)

  • domestic violence is hitting another woman

  • Grand Turismo 1 Intro Sound

  • The Manics were incredible at the Paradise in Boston. It's unbelievable that we could see them in a small venue like that. It's sad that America has no idea who they are and how good they are. It was my gain though, got to stand five feet from the stage. They said that they would be back in 2 years - can't wait!

  • I agree, my roomie and I were at the Boston show too. They were so so so amazing!!! :) Everyone should know about them, they are so awesome. :)

Yes, that's what James said to us as well, I am looking forward to seeing them again!

  • richard serra and the manics. like egg and chips. gorgeouus.

  • It's good.

  • Was working out in a Arab state whilst listening to this. Bad times. No friend on this entire planet.

  • game on music x

  • Aww that version on the GT game was feckin AWESOME!

  • harry kewell at 0:51

  • Not heard their music before, its really good.

  • love the timpanis!!

  • haha! he looks like jimmy kimmel.

  • I have never heard of this band before. This song is a very catchy.

  • wales for ever

  • He does doesn't he?

  • 0:14-0:15 Shure SM 58... Cheap microphone, but a real allrounder!!!

  • u bet! the SM58 and 57's are workhorses...solid ones...

  • I think you're a cunt.

  • This song is brilliant! Too bad more people don't know about it. I called a local radio station and they did not have it.

  • wtf?
