Dear hoteldota leave about other kids, you practice for a year or more if you like and post your video with the use of ur photographic memory DEVELOPED.
@eneerr Indian classical music has thousands of ragas. Ragas are given names and they are identified by the notes and phrases for that particular raga. We music lovers go to performances and try to identify the name of the raga when the singer begins to sing like the lady is singing. The kid is identifying the raga in no time. It is an amazing fete.
singer is bombay jayshree good singer, secondly, i wouldnt be surpirsed she can identify the ragams. Lots of factors including that parents may have good intuition or her grand parents. IF u just sing the basic notes and identify the ragams its easy. Jus tlike learning. Not surpirsed secondly she may have aprt photographic memory, nah jokes but still, hav e u heard a sing? no. dont say WoW like Wolrd of warcraft, srsly think the factors, if u wanna know proz who were way better at their ages
The amount of knowledge, power and so the arrogance have been shattered and become meaningless by this musical wonder.God shows in many ways indeed.I am blessed that I come across this clipping.
@raappana13 - to answer you question, Carnatic music is the traditional or Classic music of south India, it is based on certain scales and talas or rhythmic cycles. The main form is raga which is a melodic form based on one of the scales. It includes both composed and improvised parts.
Amazing! This video speaks much more than the prodigious talent of the kid. It stands a true testimony to the raga- based classification of Carnatic Music, which truly can be experienced only at a sub-conscious level. Music has to evolve, but this rigorous ragam classification should not be lost. Hail Carnatic Music (and music, in general) !!
Oh yeah, second ragam is Mohanam and not Hamsadwani, but they differ by only 1 note, and I'd not be surprised if it was actually a confusion between names, rather the raga-identification
woe srinidhi ur a wonder kid!!! i wish a brigt future ahead!!!!! reckoning varnas in carnatic is not that much easy but this wonder kid made it easy ,ur gr888...... love music, live music....srinidhi.....
I am 42 years (not formally learnt carnatic) and only now I am able to identify many major ragas. This kid is doing just like that within first few seconds... amazing and it must have been out of her punya/karma from previous births, for sure.
all our 5 fingers r nt the same n our world is nt gng to survive by people dng sumthng mre practical,...music is another gift in our humans life,..instead of criticising,..y nt appreciate her talent n the unique life story tat she had brought to our unique world
true- quiz game may be pointless, just as pointless and silly viewing youtube and writing such comments. hardly any one changes their opinions based on others' comments and yet we indulge in it- how silly and pointless!
Am speechless looking at this, I feel she is blessed well by sangeetha saraswathi. She is manifestation of Sangeetha saraswathi infact. What a girl ! at soo young age what a caliber. Really its her last janam fortune, and my this janam fortune to see her talent.
It matters! Why stop at asking how carnatic music and dance help in world outside? How does numerous subjects studied help one do their jobs later? When was the last time you used algebra, calculus, organic chemistry, atomic physics in your job or get ahead in modern world? It is sissy to not to think through such! Music/dance are called fine arts for a reason. They make fine, refine temperament. Besides, teaching comprehension, discipline, goal setting and confidence-all to help get far in world!
Does this really matter? I mean who cares if she guesses some song or tune?? I mean will I even care if she sings or not?? The answer is no. I really hate it when parents bring up children by teaching them this music. The kids grow up to be sissies. I understand children need to learn about the culture and traditions and all but really? I mean knowing classical music and dance is really not going to get someone far in today's modern worl
why does it need to get you far? very few people actually do it to become a professional singer/dancer etc. do you watch movies to learn something? or do you listen to songs hoping the lyrics make you smarter so that you get a promotion in you job? no, you do it for fun. and engaging in the arts is just fun, whether or not you agree about it making you a better person or not.

I don't believe her parents "taught" her this music. It seems much more likely the child has an amazing attention and retention of melodic and lyrical content, something not uncommon among children. Her parents most likely listen to carnatic music all the time and she really seems to enjoy it. And for your last question, who f'n cares "how far you get in today's modern world" you sound like a soulless corporate robot, get a grip on what life's REALLY about. Carnatic music is the soul.
oh and out of kindness, I recommend, you should take a vacation. It seems to me a perspective like yours typically will come from a "must succeed.. all work, no think, no play" attitude. I'm betting the tie around your neck is so tight the little vein in your forehead is forming a permanent wrinkle. Not very healthy, you are in desperate need of SLACK!!!!!!
Just because you're a totally uncultured, brainwashed sell out to western culture, doesn't mean that everyone that grows up "influenced" by the West, needs to abandon their roots and traditions. India is known for its richness in arts and culture and there's no better place for it than in its music. Get a grip buddy.
I was born and raised in the west, yet I still have respect for this music.

OMG Amazing, she recognize the exact swaras and never sing Flat. As a foreigner I appreciate the girls talents a lot. Why Indians criticizes this cute little girl. WOW!!!!!! ..see how she remember all Ragas name. She is highly talented for her age.
O so I was right, I guessed Bhupali (Mohanam),and Vibhas (Bhouli), but I thought O God perhaps she's right and I am wrong...:-P Then I read the comments below...
Amazing, indeed. She is none but incornation of Goddess Saraswathi. or could also be an eminent musician like MS S reborn...pray for her elevation to much higher levels breaking all recirds !
i don't know what its about i guess the lady "sings" mantras in a specific "key" and the girl tell the name of it... i dunno maybe im just screwing it up...:s wish some body could explain--!
The woman who is singing is Bombay Jayasree, renowned carnatic vocalist. Everytime she sings an alapana, Srinidhi identifies the name of the raga. A little background, Raga is nothing but a set of defined notes, for ex, Hindolam raga (first one that Srinidhi identifies in the video) has Sa ga ma dha ni sa (arohana) and sa ni dha ma ga sa. Each of these notes have specific sound and is eloborated by the vocalist in Aalapana. Hope this helps.
even that she is too small to recognize Ragas names an all. Indian government not foolish to give awards like this. I think this cute girls habbit comes from previous birth. (sory for my english)
A great and inspirational video. The best part was she even identifies the swarams (which was in the other video). My little daughter loves this video. Though Srinidhi has grown up, this video is a treasure.
this recording seems to be pretty old. possible from the early or mid '80s. anybody wht happened to this girl, and where she is today? is she a performing musician? i dont seem to have heard her name anywhere recently
For some reason, the second one sounds like Mohana to me, not Hamsadwani
