Not a fair fight? It wasn't a fight at all! That was a dead squirrel. Nice footage of a somewhat rare bird in action. I rarely see red-shoulders anymore.
I don't know if we are thinking of the same guy, or that it even matters about the species but I pretty sure the bird that idiot killed was a Red-Tailed hawk, much more likely to be seen on a golf course than a Red-shouldered.
Red-shoulders have such tiny feet, they'd never be able to take a squirrel in the wild. I enjoy watching the red-shoulders around my house take frogs by the pond.
Hey Karen, I agree. Maybe whoever was doing the filming was using the poor dead squirrel as bait to get better footage. Anyways, love birds, but squirrels are too damned cute!
I hate to dispute you, but you have a Red-shouldered Hawk. The rusty-red patches on the "shoulder" and the dark tail with thin white bands distinguish it from the much smaller Sharp-shinned Hawk. Sharpys also have a long tail and feed mostly on birds.
beautiful bird, would be nice if the squirrel wasn't already dead tho lol

just wondering since there are 3 subspecies of redshouder's- is this a florida bird or an eastern one?
Flyingspud247 4 years ago
I don't really have any idea. It was in Buford, GA, about 40 miles NE of Atlanta, if that's any help.
jcwren 4 years ago
there is a difference between Florida and Eastern subspecies. The eastern im much brighter

nature doesn't look at cute.
but, it does focus a lot on the natural fundamental principle of exploiting one another.

Thanks to an asshole golfer you'll see one less.

he'll probally spend 5 months in the resort. I'd rather see him pick up trash on an interstate than go to the "resort"

oh yeah i heard of that guy who hit on with a golf ball. I'll say, people like that should be whacked to death with with golf balls.

funny how he thinks its a trap lol

This is a red shouldered hawk landing on a dead squirrel. In the wild a red shouldered hawk could never handle a squirrel.

Is it my imagination or what?? But that squirrel looked like it's ticket had been punched before the bird even got there????

Have to agree w/ Saxgrl1. Definitely a Red-Shouldered Hawk. Enjoyed watching this bird in action. Cool video.
