I respectfully disagree with the idea that this was "rehearsed". Paul knew he was ill for quite some time and had a bit more time to prepare to speak with the press. And HECK! I respectfully disagree with the idea that this was "rehearsed". Paul knew he was ill for quite some time and had a bit more time to prepare to speak with the press. And HECK! He's Paul McCartney for cying out loud! He's been hounded by the press for ages. He has to prepare himself on a daily basis. He was gracious and kind in speaking about his "little brother". We miss you George.

I'm not sure this was particularly rehearsed; it sounds about like the commentary one gives who has had some little time to consider what he might say if or when asked. I also do not recall that Paul was very 'passive' about John's passing. The relationships amongst all four of these guys was that of a brotherhood, and despite whatever squabbles they had there was still a love, even when they attempted to override it with anger or disappointment, that superseded all.

Paul wasn't passive about John's death; he's emotionally private. And I think after losing someone so close to you, everyone has that right to be alone to grieve or in the company of close family and friends. The fact that he stopped at all for this interview was a courtesy to his devoted fans and nothing else.

I thought Paul handled it well. It did seem a bit rehearsed, but I am sure Paul is dealing "Something." George's contributions to the Beatles may have been slightly overshadowed by Paul and John, but without his contributions, jus think of all of the classics that wouldn't have been, too many to name. While my Guitar Gently weeps deserves another listen if you haven't in a while.
