Wow!! Amazing! You're into voice-over too, huh? So am I! ^___^ I've only been in voice-over studios possibly.... well... lots of times, actually. I'm into voice-over already, and am getting paid for it! Though, I'm mainly an understudy for bunches of roles--such as in Dr. Frog for a cartoon called FISHHOOKS! The only actual act I've done in a voice-over booth in CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS was possibly my Carrie the Emo Ghost voice for a cartoon called THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL. Great job! :D
@ShelbyGraceDrake Thought I replied to this already but that's really awesome! Congrats. I haven't done a bunch outside of movie/tv trailers other than some videogame characters and some stuff I'm not allowed to discuss because of non-disclosure agreements. I'm guessing you're fairly young. That's great that you're getting started so early. I wished I had started a LONG time ago.
@jon3pnt0 sorry maybe i misworded that, i'm simply saying you obviously have a sound booth professional grade mic along with some nice computers, but i did listen to other videos created by you and just meant that you have a digitized sound therefor hinting torwards mild voice alterations. Overall i still love your sound.
@TheVoiceOfDon1 nope, I do this for a living, bro. (jonbaileyVO. com) the only synth i ever use is for Optimus Prime's voice (and only cuz he's a robot). no other alterations are made. my soundmixer has the mid and lo range boosted for added warmth and bass. any other digitized noise is probably from the video being converted from my file to YouTube's FLV files. that alters the audio a lot more than i would like but it's not as bad now that YT offers HD.
@TheVoiceOfDon1 gotcha. yeah, synth is like a robotic sound effect (like a vocoder for example). most pre-amps and mixers have hi, mid, and lo range settings. my mic has it's own built-in bass boost and a separate power supply for recording trailers and commercials. i would really like to get a shotgun mic as well. they are really great for movie trailers.
@KTMONEY14 just send me a message with what you want. you will have to wait for me to get other favors in front of you done first so it may be a while. or you can hire me directly and i'll do it right away. check my website jonbaileyVO. com
@jon3pnt0 i want it 2 say "Cout Dat Cash goin ham " , Trappin on dem bastards " , trappin on da court" , Dj Tay Dont Play aint playin wit these bastards , And Young Sleepy too reckless for youu! You have a good voice for this , say every thang wit slang , its gonna be fine. How can i get wit yo director?
@jon3pnt0 Ok thanks for replying :) what mic is this? and what would be a good mic to get this deep voice, like I know You don't use any effects or anything but the mic also needs to be nice and big right? what would be a good one that will be good for doing this type of voice and if you can please name one that is really really cheap, like maybe within $70-$100?
@HakerzTM i use a CAD M-179 condenser mic, but it's not the best for movie trailer voiceovers. it was $150 previously-owned from a music consignment store. i want to buy a Rode NTG-2 shotgun microphone. shotgun mics are perfect for trailers. you can get it from sweetwater for under $300. but i gotta warn ya, you have to already have a deep voice for it to really have a great sound.
@jon3pnt0 thanks for the help man! I was just watching some of your videos and you really have talent! I can't believe you didn't get that job in your video :/ well anyways thanks again! I tried doing the voiceover voice but it isn't nearly as great as your voice, If you have the time check it out and give me some tips on what I can do to improve my voice :)
when i do that voice, i put a little too much jet propultion in it, then my recording devices don't pick it up and i just sound like a douchebag. my Q is - if u get ur tonsules out, does it lower ur voice? or do i have to take up smoking?
yeah, like i replied to a similar comment, it has to do with doing a live video recording as opposed to an edited audio recording. when doing audio only, you can do as many takes as are necessary to get it exactly the way you want it to sound.
i wish i could. i've tried to teach others with no success. you have to have a really good ear. practice the voice and record yourself then play it back and repeat until you have it down. ask non-biased people about it and get an honest answer so you can fine tune it. not everyone is capable of doing a movie preview voice. mine certainly isn't perfect.
well, there is a big difference between doing a live video recording and doing a voiceover recording. if i were doing a voiceover recording, i could record it in pieces as many takes as i needed and then edit the best together. to prove that this is really me, i left it unedited. it's a lot harder getting all the way through a recording in one take. when i'm at the studio, we sometimes do up to 30 takes til the producer or client gets what they want.
I am a"Hardcore" viewer when it comes to Voice Over Artists, doesn't matter Original or Impressions....
Question time...
How is it you sound natrually close to my pitch (only difference, I am thin sounding often, not as 'masculine') and seem common, to all sudden have a gruffed monster voice related towards Lafountain, Cullen, Douglas, and etc?
I practice daily, to evil levels of strain!
My story is "One man!, one goal/dream!, one obstical!". xD lol
it's bass falcetto. it's like someone doing a high voice that isn't in their natural range... same thing applies to a low voice that isn't in their natural range. as for the accuracy of the voice, that only comes with practice and i STILL don't have it 100% after several years of working on it.
MR. Lafontaine I would like to know the proper way to inform a fancy 5 star resturant they are out of tp when you didn't notice till after you have already finnished.
I've done some student film trailers and a documentary trailer, video game trailer and some promos, but nothing huge yet. I hope that wasn't your contest question submission! Lol! Send THAT question by message --->
voiceovers make everything cool "in a world were children must fight teachers through battles. " "In a world were homework will no longer matter." "High School the senior year the last test " that would make me go to school lol
The first part was actually my old voicemail message on my cellphone but I've used it for auditions and fun too. The second part is an actual contest! I saw the "Ask a Movie Trailer Guy" column on Yahoo! and thought it would be fun to do it for real!
Can I pay you to say a few words and send me the clip ?
