After being periodically slapped around for "three or four days" by his captors who wanted military information, McCain called for an officer on his fourth day of captivity. He told the officer, "O.K., I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital." -U.S. News and World Report, May 14, 1973 article written by former POW John McCain
I appreciate Obama being a Christian and being open about his religious beliefs but to whore his Christian principals so he can be president is something you shouldn't look for in a President. He's double minded and does not put God's will first.
Obama believes in "civil unions" but is a Christian? He is the mos LIBERAL person I have ever seen. He believes in any and everything that will get him votes. He certainly doesn't want to offend the homosexuals lest they won't vote for him. He better worry about what God thinks!
What about marriage where one of the parties (man or woman) is sterile or otherwise unable to conceive? If they can't have children, then are they unable to get married?
What about marriages that produce no children because the couple decides not to, as opposed to a biological inability?
Married couples that want to conceive but are unable, due to any circumstances is a terrible thing, and of course to adopt a child is a beautiful and blessing thing or they decide not to have any children at all. But the main purpose of a marriage is to form a family, to teach and protect you siblings, to bring on generations of children into this world. To share values and priciples to make this world a better place.
So, in fact, the one and only thing same sex marriage can't do that hetero marriage can is produce a genetic amalgamation of both parties. There's nothing about same sex marriage that precludes them being a family, to teach and protect offspring (not siblings), or to produce children via alternate means such as surrogacy or sperm donors. The only reason - the only damn reason - same sex marriage is so anathema is that it violates archaic religious tenets that have no place in modern society.
I'd say a couple billion people would disagree with you that "archaic religious tenets" have no place in modern society, paidhima. There are billions of Christians in the world, and quite a lot of other people who follow the tenets of other religions. I guess we're all wrong?
What a shame. Mccain cheated. Look at 2:02min. Listen careful to Rev. Warren. When Mcain says are we going to get back to supreme jus. " you jumping ahead you know my questions, good." What a shame. He's dumber than Bush, more mean spirited than Cheney, if elected the world is going to end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"A marriage is a union between a man and a woman... a sacred union"
"i do believe in civil unions"
God in not in a "civil union". Listen to what he says. People accuse Obama of being a hypocrite because they do not listen to what the man says. Civil unions a legal contracts which have nothing to do with religion. Marriage on the other hand, is a sacred religious act of commitment.Obama recognizes that difference. Recognizing that difference doesn't contradict with Christian beliefs.
God may not be involved in civil unions from our perspective but he's still sees gay civil unions and homosexuality as sinful, just the same as he sees stealing, lying, adultery as sinful (1 Corinthians 6:9)
I like how Obama is always says he is a Christian but is for abortion and marriage between same sexes. I guess he doesn't read the Bible much or maybe he doesn't believe in those parts of the Bible.
While Sen. John McCain's wife and father-in-law were investing with Charles H. Keating, Jr. in a shopping center, McCain was helping Keating battle federal regulators who questioned his operation of Lincoln Savings and Loan Documents show that Sen. John McCain's wife, Cindy, and father-in-law, James W. Hensley are the largest investors
still dancing around the question huh, Obama?

He never calls homosexuality a sin. He simply defines marriage.

Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9.
Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God.

It is certainly possible that you are all wrong. Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't make it true.

filpin- you say you guess Obama doesn't read the bible because he is for "marriage between same sexes"
But it looks like you didn't watch the forum or listen to Obama because he said HE IS NOT for same SEX marriage.
What does the Bible say about bearing false witness?

I fully agree. BUT, the Constitution is the law of the nation, not GOD. Thus civil union are "A O.K!"

I beg to differ! Pick one up and look at Exodus 20! Read the 6th of the 10 Commandments! What does it read? "Thou shall not commit murder!"
It goes without saying that you can not kill that which isn't dead!
