Punishment presupposes free will? im sorry but you won't find that concept ANYWHERE in scripture. that is a MAN-MADE philosophy. In fact, in the bible we find just the OPPOSITE. God brings the Assyrians against a people and still holds them responsible. What about the crucifixion of Christ? Acts says those people gathered to do what God's hand and purpose PREDESTINED to occur. Was everyone involved in that held responsible? You better believe it.
Free choice is connected to rewards and punishment all throughout the Bible (Deut. 30:19, Deut. 11:26-28, Job 34:33). Rewards and punishments would be meaningless and cruel if men had no free will. And Yes God delivered Jesus unto wicked men to do what was foreordained to be done. But that doesn't mean they had no free will. Men hated Jesus and wanted to kill him on their own because of his preaching. God didn't need to force anyone. But God knew what would happen if He delivered him to them
If these laws are eternal, ...how come there's such a difference between the old and new testament? How do you explain a perfect god creating something with so much failure? Your religion is such a joke. You really need to take a step back and take a critical look at everything you're saying, and use some logic for once.
This type of preaching makes it easy to be an atheist. It's also easier to make others fear becoming associated with this type of crazy as it even makes people who would call themselves Christian cringe.
By saying that God is 'omnipotent' AND 'omniscient' God disappears in a puff of self refuting logic. On this basis, God knew when he created everything what the outcome would be. God would consequently have to be immoral, and therefore not perfect Even a child can see what pseudo-philosophical drivel the preacher is spouting and why so many people walk by him or challenge his absurd argument. Yet another street preacher without the capacity to think through his argument logically.
Red herring? In what sense? Of course your not interested, your a non believer. I did ask for an explanation. Now that we have a definition of logic, how does 1+1= existence of Bigfoot? And how is that relevant towards your creator?
argument from ignorance? irrelevant to the conversation and this would be an example of the fallacy of distraction. You know what logic is, give me your two piece of what logic is.
calling something "stupid" doesn't do justice. Do you understand the absurdity in your argumentation?
argument from ignorance? Irrelevant to the conversation. This would be an example of the fallacy of distraction. You know what logic is, give me your two piece of what logic is.
@theembracedofgod It's funny how pitifull theists can be. So desperate they need to pretend to rely on someone so much that they actually believe they exist.
Can you offer anything other than a troll statement?
YOu can't make sense of anything without first knowing that God exists- yes even my worldview says you suppress the knowledge of God. "pitifull" (Pitiful) isn't a meaningful excuse to not believe in God. YOu don't have to like the concept of God no one is asking you to.
@theembracedofgod Can't make sense out of anything? I don't believe in God because the bible doesn't make any sense. It's impossible to populate the world with only 2 people, same goes for animals, also I see VERY reasonable doubt for it. I'll believe it, when I see it. No more FAITH bullshit, because that's all that religion seems to rely on.

"do you even know what logic is?"
Yes. What's more, I've read what actual logicians have said about logic. I suggest you do the same.
In your perspective of course it would be ignorance... We preach Christ crucified but it is foolishness to you because of your own presupposition.
You just said YES I KNOW WHAT LOGIC IS, however, you have not even given me any explanation of what it is. It would help your case to back up your claims instead of blabbing like a fool that you know what everything is.
@theembracedofgod "We preach Christ crucified but it is foolishness to you because of your own presupposition." Red herring. Not interested.
"you have not even given me any explanation of what it is" You didn't ask for one, but here it is anyway: "The study of methods and principles used to distinguish correct from incorrect reasoning." - Copi and Cohen 11th Edition
You're welcome to read the text or take a course if you want to go beyond that. I don't owe you an education.
It doesn't really make a lot of sense to say you have confidence in your five senses, when all the while pushing the glasses back up on your nose so you can see.
Did god create the glasses so you could see better? Or did science do it? What was wrong with the original design of your eyes where you needed the glasses?
My experience tells me that my five senses are more or less reliable. They are, by the way, not always reliable and can be fooled. Why would god make them that way? Your "rational reason" for believing in your senses has failed you ... miserably. The laws of logic are not absolute by the way and are also a product of observation. The laws of logic do not apply on a subatomic level.
I find these arguments "atheism cannot account for [x]" to be silly, because the christian tries to account for these things by appealing to magic (magic being defined here from merriam webster as: "the use of means believed to have supernatural power over natural forces." And appeals to magic aren't explanations at all, but rather primitive and baseless assertions. It is the theist who cannot account for things, and they appeal to magic an intellectually bankrupt effort to explain phenomenon.
Five senses are easily accounted for . Sight from eyes, hearing from ears, etc. Logic are statements about reality (A=A) which are either true or not true, and observation and sense experience dictates they are true. Also, our brains require some original sense input in order to function properly, so to even come up with that statement (A=A), it explicitly agrees on sense experience as a foundation. We test (A=A) on reality, and find it to correctly correspond with sense experience.
the five senses and logic are the product of evolution wich was said by the pope not to be a theory anymore and what is said by the pope iwill be abided by god so therefore because the pope said evolution is real evolution is real
We ALL have to assume we can trust our senses in order to get anywhere, THEN we can worry about explaining why this is so. In short, a worldview that doesn't claim to have all the answers (scientific atheism) need not PROVIDE all the answers. However, if it's blatantly ILLOGICAL and impossible for science to EVER account for logic, that's different, but nobody's said that.
im athiest, but i believe in god, i just dont follow a religion, used to be catholic. but i mean preaching this shit, 99% of ppl are just there for laughs, they dont care, he should try helping out the homeless, not preaching and pissing ppl off
Atheism is not formal logic and has nothing to do with logic. The only thing it deals with is the existence of gods or any other claim that theists assert. It would not have to "account" for logic or the senses just as evolution would not have to account for the creation of the universe (that is cosmology and a separate subject). Apparently god gave you your senses and logic so you could ignore them. This type of "preaching" is an annoyance and does more harm than good for your cause.
Don't bother trying to explain such things to religious people, they are far to ignorant there is no real way of telling them the truth; because in the end they are just oblivious to all real proof.
Atheism is neither psychology nor formal logic; it simply means a belief there are no gods! Psychology more adequately accounts for our senses and formal logic more adequately accounts for the Laws of Logic. How could atheism regarding Thor and Zeus explain sight or thinking? It can not! The best explanation for our senses and for our discovery of the Laws of Logic regardless if there is a god or not is Biological Evolution.
It is SAFE to think for your self! Gods are mere concepts!
So after claiming that you have a reason to trust your 5 senses someone in the audience asks you how you can trust THAT reason, that you are a creature of God and you launch into the argument from contingency.
The AFC(which I do not grant) is insufficient to justify the accuracy of the 5 senses since it doesn't address whether or not the necessary being made your senses accurate.
Speaking loudly doesn't substitute for rational arguments.
Well, if they don't transcend God's mind, then it's perfectly reasonable for a Christian to think that God both exists and does not exist. To claim that God exists in a consistent and logical fashion is an arbitrary claim within your world view.
Quit borrowing intellectual capitol from my world view.

@theembracedofgod "I did ask for an explanation." No you didn't. You asked "do you even no what logic is?" Which I answered, "yes".
"Now that we have a definition of logic, how does 1+1= existence of Bigfoot? And how is that relevant towards your creator?"
Who are you addressing these to? You seem to be confusing me with another poster. It's impossible to tell if you don't hit "reply".
Here's a question for you: are you capable of maintaining a coherent dialog?

If spontaneous, intricate sensations occur that seamlessly transform and form a coherent picture then we can try to explain them a number of ways...
The sensations are...
a) purely random
b) caused by a Cartesian daemon
c) caused by the matrix
d) caused by a relationship to an objective external world.
'a' is statistically improbable compared to 'd'. 'b' and 'c' have more degrees of freedom than 'd' yet explain nothing more and so can be rejected.
'd' is the best explanation.
