  • very nice night time shot

  • Thanks, just what I needed to see ^^

  • @MRJUCE I want to know the same thing. I hate it when people don't post that info with their videos. Saves people like us from having to inquire.

  • How come not many camcorders have night vision? I want this new panasonic camcorder, it has everything I ever want.. A very crystal clear picture, and you can take photos while recording.. It's just excellent, but it doesn't have night vision. Is night vision bad or what?

  • @lilcrazyaznboy Hey man, i wouldnt suggest any cam without night vision, there is two types night vision and infared, i would highly reccomend infared it takes heat and uses as a image, night vision sucks....so if the cam doesnt come with either i wouldnt buy it as its cheap....get this cam man and you will be happy if you can afford $1500 then its perfect!

  • @jackslaughters Yeah, but I've been searching and searching and I'm leaning towards 3 great camcorders.. Panasonic TM700 , Canon vixia HSF21 or Sony HDR-CX550.. Do all of these have infrared?

  • whats the optical zoom?

  • Hey wutsup, I got this camera, I used to use Magix Movie Edit Pro 15+ and moved on now to Sony Vegas Pro 8.0

Is there a way to edit the video in the file they are in when I put them in PMB? or will I always have to convert them to WMV?

  • @ButteryCabinet as far as i know, the only way is to convert them to wmv.....but if you have windows 7 you can open them in window live movie maker, which is quicker and then move them to whatever program u want!

  • @ButteryCabinet try powerdirector. it doesnt matter what the file is from what ive noticed

  • i just tried it out. nightshot isn't THAT good and i figured out that you can edit the HD files on a crappy computer. You just need to download K-lite codec pack so your computer recognizes the video types. (Windows7 already has the codecs in the system)

  • @jrpowell01 but it is that good, and as far as editing on a crappy computer....are you editing HD video or are u using SP or LP recording??? Try pure 1080p edits....

  • thats really really bright. did u have any IR attachments or special setup for this much illumination? i know i have a dvd505 w/ nightshot and it took 250 IR LED to get this.

  • @jrpowell01 This was the setting in the camera, its IR night vision....and i didnt edit anything in this video, this cam was $1200 and I got it because it had the best night mode as i do alot of recording at night time...Maybe its time to upgrade your camcorder and get the newest IR technology

  • @jackslaughters well i actually ordered this cam a few days ago. thats why i found your vid. so it looks like ill find out pretty soon when it comes in the mail.

  • @jrpowell01 I will give you one warning about the cam.....I hope you have a powerhouse of a computer with lots of ram to be able to handle the file format. I had a pentium 4 3.06 ghz 4 gig of ram and the video played super unwatchable choppy. I had to buy a Intel i5 to be able to play MTS files. And most programs dont allow that type of editing, i reccomend either magix movie edit pro or sony vegas pro, which will both run you $100. Givin you a heads up!!!

  • @jackslaughters thanks for the heads up. i figured I would have some major issues so ill be editing over on my buddy's pc. its quite a bit faster.

  • I wish you would have turned the nightshot off then on while filming your backyard to really show us the difference it makes.

I film in complete darkness and with those lightposts providing some lights, it's not really mimicking my filming environment.

    But thanks for posting anyway.

  • Thanks for doing this. I just ordered this cam yesterday and was curious how the nightshot was on it.

  • Nice nightmode test. My wife just gave me one of these for christmas, and I'm floored by the HD quality. I've had to go out and buy another 2TB HD to store my new videos ... LOL. Enjoy the cam, I am ... Ciao !

  • Yes it is a pretty good camera but I prefer to edit my videos and .mts files do not work in many editing programs, and if I play the file in .mts format my computer lags huge....but its a fast pc....???

  • Nice but put it in full HD

Its set default on standard quality. If you go under the video settings you can change the quality.

  • THanks for the info man, I tried with full HD and my computer cant handle the mts files so i have to convert them to avi, which brought down the quality
