Doesn't anyone feel shallow for doing this? I mean when you break it down into it's basics, you're literally finding people that you can use as a stepping stone in order to get whatever it is you want.

I mean back when I was growing up, I met and befriended people because I liked them. Now, we're meeting and befriending people because I can trade a favor for them in order to get something I want. Sure, friendships can develop AFTER this, but that's not why you approached them to begin with.
