  • NO OFFENSE, but, SRV could not do this. EC cover is simply what the song should be.

  • @mtnbilly100 dude he could if he felt like it.he just didnt do it because it was his song.R.I.P Stevie

  • EC is awesome. Thanks for sharing Tony. Nadine:)

  • @williedb47 thanks for sending the link, of course I love it! :-)

  • at least he tried playing it

  • this white guy is pretty good ... who is he?

  • @roselandalvin seriously?

  • @roselandalvin r u kidding me its eric clapton, idiot.

  • always has his eyes closed and still never hits a bad note. clapton is god.

  • On this episode: Bonnie Raitt sucked, Jimmie Vaughan was a fucking robot. But, despite the fact that I think Eric Clapton should've sustained things a bit more, he was definitely doing better than the status quo at paying tribute to Stevie Ray.

  • @HoleHeadedLiar from this show.... i think tha bb king, buddy guy, eric clapton and robert cry was the only that yo MUST to listen

  • Comparing Clapton and SRV is like asking which side of a gold coin is shinier.

  • Oh and csjackon97, SRV STOLE a lot of licks from Albert King. While Eric has the talent to play rock, blues, rockabilly (check out Derek and the Dominos on Johnny Cash show circa 1971), and country, and his own stuff.

The ONLY 3 time inductee into the Rock Hall of Fame.....enuff said!

    Clapton is God!

  • @HellaKool76 Oh boy the rock Hall of FAME. Kind of an oxymoron afaiac. Where is Steve Miller or Mitch Ryder in that Hall by the way. They both singabout as well as EC and Miller's no slouch when he hits on the blues. SRV incorporated Albert K. Albert C and Hubert Sumlin and Lonnie Mack and tons of others. He's younger. Is he supposed to come out of nowhere?

  • @csjackson97,

Stevie is like Hendrix in that he was a natural talent, one in a million...while Eric admits he had to work at it. But in the end, Eric was just as good I believe. They both feel the BLUES, but I've heard Stevie was slightly arrogant, while Eric is the most modest man you'll ever meet. Plus, Eric in his prime would put Stevie under the table, listen to late 60's Cream and John Mayall's and you'll see...And Eric's the only guy you'll hear BB, Buddy, and Albert say is better.

  • The slow hand rocks and srv just as much if not more! in different styles love that its great in this style and srv's version is jacked up good... love that! Bottom line Love them both for different reasons and thats the beauty of music

  • Stevies tone could blow through a brick wall, and his intensity was unmatched,by anyone! This is a cute attempt, but falls WOEFULLY short of the man SRV!!!!

  • @csjackson97 This is Eric playing Eric style, not Eric trying to play Stevie style. Stevie would have loved this, as will any true lover of blues music. Eric is exceptional, as was Stevie.

  • He tries, but he just can't compare to Stevie! He just isn't as naturally gifted as Stevie.

  • @csjackson97 i was at srv's last concert.clapton was the headliner.i am and was a huge srv fan.I didnt even like eric clapton.other then the cream stuff.but i have to say.as good as srv was.clapton smoked him.it was the most wailing guitar i ever heard. clapton knew srv was going to rock the house and he couldnt go on afterwards and stum."i shot the sherriff".so he pulled out. proably the best concert he ever did.I doubt he ever played that good again

  • I love how every single damn youtube video has a debate on who's the better guitarist, even ones that aren't even in the video...as if they're some useless hack and they're just picked because what...they're popular...really, SRV played with Clapton, why do you think that is? Its because they both realised each others styles...Clapton influenced SRV! As for Mayer...agreed he's not in the video but again, people seem to think that he's some kind of hack...must be a reason Clapton plays with him

  • give god a solo when ec plays the blues he's at his best

  • Jesus is GOD in the flesh. But Clapton isn't the beginning of a pimple on Stevie's ass.

  • @csjackson97 wrong on both counts.

  • Have a tissue handy when you listen...

  • The only song that ever made me cry.

  • this is the best i have ever heard clapton play. I saw him play years ago in cleveland and boy was i dissapointed.

  • I guess they call him slow hands cause he does quick but short runs? I dont know. Just wondered for a long time man. He said its cause he cant play fast. But come on. Haha. Peace. -Cody Lee Meece

  • who even brought the name john mayer up.idiot u ever u are.not even same league

  • The difference between Eric Clapton and John Mayer is that Eric Clapton is a true original....also Claptons not a douchebag...xoxo

  • @imboredazwell That comment is pointless, John Mayer is not playing here.

  • awesome

  • one of the best performances..srv.was there

  • Hendrix´s Fender, yeah!

  • Thats why i love john mayer.. hes a combo of bb, srv and clapton...

  • i have a lots of respects for clapton but i don't understand why he's called "god". in my opinnion, there's easily 30 better blues guitar player than him and hundreds of better singers. he's an amazing composer, he have made a lots of goods songs but it's a fact that he's overrated, maybe cause he is popular/ comercial.

  • There is nothing more entheusiing than to see most of the guitar greats in the Blues Genre pay tribute to a lil' ole' guitar picker from Arlington Texas. Mr SRV himself was the center of this tribute and every single player did an awesome job of doin SRV their own way. What a way to keep Blues and guitar music alive! Long Live SRV. He is definitely missed.

  • eric you are an icon of the blues, beautiful I wish i can play just like you. can someone tell me in what scales eric clapton is playing please ?

  • @MrAntoinejules Aminor

  • Beautiful.

  • guess, stevie would be pleased ))

  • Awesome tribute from one great guitarist to another.

  • Billy Gibbons is god to me, but there are a lot of other good guitarplayers as well.

  • Niether, his fragile ego has pushed him into the wrong camp. His prime was between cream and Dominos and then he did the right thing, mellowing out w Albert Lee into his sunset. Next he started sucking, overplaying, repeating himself (taboo in the blues) effcts out the ass w active electronics and out and out embarrassing himself trying to suck up to every hot guitarist in town....pathetic

  • a key change for the last solo would have really given the song more impact.

  • Ol' Slow Hand rockin' the house!!! Mercy, mercy, mercy. Luuuuuv me some Clapton.

  • what a tone.

  • I agree people have their own opinions whos best and what they like!I always respect opinions!!My personal favorite is and in my opinion the best is SRV but I sure love Clapton,Hendrix,Van Halen,Buddy Guy etc.. They are all great guitarists in the their own way!!

  • Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, I feel blessed to have seen them all live. They are all wonderful.

  • @KAZOOU2

I have also seen all of them and Johnny Winter when he first hit the scene !

  • @KAZOOU2 i envy you

  • @KAZOOU2 lucky i was born at the wrong time

  • @KAZOOU2 lucky sod. i envy you

  • @KAZOOU2 You ARE blessed, I've got one out of three, the other two died before my time

  • wow so many people are concerned with who is the best. why cant we all agree that these musicians together are the best and separate they are equal as the best;^) its about the music not a title of number 1 artist. thats for the pop stars. so if you cant agree that each one of these artist and SRV are equal than you should listen to pop music;^)

  • BBBBBAD TO THe BONE

  • and who says white man can't play the blues?

  • @fguka I dunno, no one?

  • @fguka I dunno, no one?

  • @fguka they`re white outside, black inside! Cheers. SRV FOREVER

  • @fguka Well Eric is one of the best, if not the best since the last 40 years...

  • Hendrix-SRV-Clapton have all admitted they're not the best, they compliment each other, i love the modesty these guys have it's inspiring!

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, I always thought Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen were 9's, Hendrix was an 10, and SRV was a 10.5.

Putting that into perspective, the guy who plays in a cover band at your local bar is a 3, maybe a 4 on a good night.

  • SRV WAS GREAT AND CLAPTON IS STILL GREAT, LOVE BOTH OF THEIR MUSIC

  • @larstheguitarguy : EC used to be considered the "GOD of guitar" in the 60's and 70's

although it's pretty much irrelevant as I dont think anyone can play SRV music as well as SRV himself, just like no one cap play EC music like EC himself...

If anything, you should just appreciate what both have accomplished, and the fact that both being Blues musician they still managed to have a unique and quite different (from eachother) sound.

  • @BluesSasha yeah, know but my comment was supposed to be a joke...

i listen to a lot of claptons music and i think hes great! in my opinion they cant be compared.

youtubers need to get some humor in their lives c: no offence

  • Love guitar sooooooooooooooo much:))))))

    GREAT!!! GREAT!!! GREAT!!!

  • I do not thinkl anybody else can make a SRV sound DIFFERENT then SRV version and LIKEABLE for the ear.

    Clapton is a musical genious...

  • Yeah baby!

  • clapton is the greatest.

  • Joe bonamassa is the next clapton

  • @infinityjet Mayer is the next Clapton. Bonamassa is a Blues-Virtuoso guy on gtr

  • 2 people just want a comment about the dislike button.

  • SRV gone at 35 way too soon....if Slowhand is gone by the time hes 100 it will still be too soon....love to see one legend showing his respect to another

  • Clapton has an unbelievable class to his playing, sounds like a Cadillac drives, (if that makes sense). SRV was wild! full throttle shit, sounded like a supercharged Cuda.

  • me dieron ganas de levantarme de mi asiento y aplaudir un buen rato largo

  • he has 4 roland blues cubes amps lol i have one

  • he has 4 roland blues cubes lol i have one

  • I love this performance so much. Such a touching tribute and respect from one genius to another. It's beautiful to watch. Thanks! :D

  • Clapton himself said he could not believe how SRV could just keep adding lick on lick to his blues style, it was magic. Clapton is very good, excellent, but nobody can fill a stage with a guitar the way SRV did. SRV sounded like a couple of guitars, not just one guitar, one bass and drums. Damn airplane crashes, took many great musicians over the years. Ever wonder how SRV would have expanded his talent with a few more decades? Wow.

  • 2 brain dead cock suckers actually confessed to not liking this?

  • Wahnsinn.....

  • Just a friend paying tribute to a friend who has passed. Not a competition of who was better

  • now that SRV is gone clapton is god. but from 83' to 90' he was jesus

  • @larstheguitarguy are u stupid clapton is not god where you get that from nor jesus hes just realy good and awsome doesnt mean hes god

  • @gggdnatedogg i know that. i was making a joke. look at the funny side and chill out.

  • @larstheguitarguy lol ya sorry thought you were serious bout the god thing all though he is freaken amazing on the guitar

  • @gggdnatedogg amen to that! one of my fav guitarists :'D

  • @gggdnatedogg yep mine to

  • @larstheguitarguy are u stupid clapton is not a god where you get that from nor jesus hes just realy good and awsome doesnt mean hes a god

  • @larstheguitarguy You couldn't compare those Heros on the Guitar. Sadly one was called back home to early(RIP Stevie Ray, we all miss you buddy!), but the other one is still with us... So be happy, that Stevie played like he did and that Eric plays like he still does.

You cannot compare any of those Bluesstringers, their all gods on their own way!

    Rest In Peace Stevie Ray.

We'll never forget what you did and we all hope to play with you in our all home!

    Miss you!

  • @larstheguitarguy I totally agree...

  • @larstheguitarguy Oh Hell Yeah!!! Great way of putting it!!! I got to see them both (srv X 2)

  • @gladdad101 lucky you! i've been listening to him since i was about 2 years old, but he already passed away before my birth. shame i died so early

  • @larstheguitarguy "I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT" :)

  • @larstheguitarguy clapton and srv and all those great guitarists are just normal people. they were given the gift of music, its not about who was better. they were both and will always be amazing musicians.

  • @irishguy1579 don't you think i know that? its a joke it doesn't mean that im one of these fuckheads comparing guitarists. they all have their own unique style so they can't be compared. try looking at the funny side and stop being so serious.

  • @larstheguitarguy

the styles are really so different when you start looking at the rock blues guys. SRV is a virtuoso, and a boogie guy, Clapton is a STRAIGHT BADASS, and a legendary rock-n-roll song writer, but not really a virtuoso.

  • @Dankshasta i know! Stevie is like a fullthrottle Mustang and Clapton is like an orgasmic moan. both unique and pure pleasure.

  • @larstheguitarguy couldnt agree more with you dude haha

  • @larstheguitarguy Just a comment on your comment of eight months ago concerning Clapton as Jesus - well, let's just say that you are wrong on a number of fronts: both Clapton and Vaughan are masters of what they do and did all on their own. It's like saying B.B King is superior to Albert King. That said, you really do need knowledge of theology and knowledge of Christianity, generally, before making such an outrageous statement. Your statement suggests, however, that you won't get my point.

  • @Teachering im getting pretty tired of Youtubers without humor, my comment was a joke! JOKE! im not trying to look like an ignorant little shit here. i respect and love both of them. of course i know they can't be compared. Im just trying to be funny but no one seem to get the joke around here.

  • @larstheguitarguy Someday you have to explaine me the difference between God and Jesus :)

  • @larstheguitarguy nice. as a commenter i have to say; well done. that was pretty slick.

  • is true !!! clapton is GOD !!!

  • Clapton truly is GOD

  • Clapton's sings with such passion and emotion, but that passion and emotion never seems to translate to his guitar work. His solos always sound lifeless and hollow to me.

  • @s0undch4ser I tend to think the opposite, his singing is what lacks the power. His playing is what made him legendary

  • @s0undch4ser ,,,You are soooooooo wrong,,,,,"Clapton solo sounds lifeless to you" Trust me,,,there is something wrong with your senses then

  • @samimkasiri ok I trust you must be my senses , after all your samimkasiri and you know these things.

  • @s0undch4ser

It's no so much what he's playing that sounds lifeless, it's the guitar tone he's using here, and often uses in the last 20 years. It's often just so flat and lifeless.

  • @Teelux Yeah, I think he should just go back to the kind of tone he used in Cream/Bluesbreakers. He probably doesn't want to because he doesn't want to retrace that ground, but that's pretty silly. His sound back then was the best, in my opinion.

  • @namdlefhtes he should have used the " KIng Tone " in this tribute

  • @Jdeman Stevie hated Lace pickups. Thats more Claptons style. Which he took from Buddy in a way cause Buddy was his idol. Wouldnt be Stevies guitar. Stevies Hamiltone came original with Lace Sensors and he didnt like them so he put some fender pups in it. Dig? Peace -Cody Lee Meece

  • Damn, Clapton did a great job here.

  • Who better to do a tribute to Stevie than Eric Clapton. I think Clapton's Version is good.

  • Oh. That looks easy. :)

  • look and hear the mans guitar skills, just plan awesome.

  • love clapton dont get me wrong but, u can tell if u close your eyes and listen the music this aint stevie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jackhessell And that's beautyfull in guitar/ music. Clapton doesn't have to imitate Stevie, he has his own beautyfull style and thats only a tribute, he plays it's his way. Every guitarist is unique. Thats why Clapton ain't Stevie :).

  • Comment removed

  • @jackhessell

Its not stevie because its clapton playing his own sound. Nobody at this concert is mimicking stevie.

  • so what! so he has a teleprompter. does not diminish his talent or this clip. Love it!

  • Sorry Bro, I feel your pain. Been giggin since 63, gotta look down at the fret board a little bit more often now. Yes, I noticed the teleprompter, my bad. Milt

  • Yeah, I know what monitors are. I'm talking about the teleprompter underneath the camera that is scrolling lyrics like karaoke. See it twice if you look closely. That's OK...I've played enough gigs and am getting old now where I forget the damn lyrics enough that I could use one.

  • Those are monitors idiot!

  • Beautiful. Clapton reading lyrics off a teleprompter.

  • those are monitors you obviously have never played a live show at a decent venue
