On this episode: Bonnie Raitt sucked, Jimmie Vaughan was a fucking robot. But, despite the fact that I think Eric Clapton should've sustained things a bit more, he was definitely doing better than the status quo at paying tribute to Stevie Ray.

I love how every single damn youtube video has a debate on who's the better guitarist, even ones that aren't even in the video...as if they're some useless hack and they're just picked because what...they're popular...really, SRV played with Clapton, why do you think that is? Its because they both realised each others styles...Clapton influenced SRV! As for Mayer...agreed he's not in the video but again, people seem to think that he's some kind of hack...must be a reason Clapton plays with him
I guess they call him slow hands cause he does quick but short runs? I dont know. Just wondered for a long time man. He said its cause he cant play fast. But come on. Haha. Peace. -Cody Lee Meece
i have a lots of respects for clapton but i don't understand why he's called "god". in my opinnion, there's easily 30 better blues guitar player than him and hundreds of better singers. he's an amazing composer, he have made a lots of goods songs but it's a fact that he's overrated, maybe cause he is popular/ comercial.
There is nothing more entheusiing than to see most of the guitar greats in the Blues Genre pay tribute to a lil' ole' guitar picker from Arlington Texas. Mr SRV himself was the center of this tribute and every single player did an awesome job of doin SRV their own way. What a way to keep Blues and guitar music alive! Long Live SRV. He is definitely missed.
Clapton a mi gusto es menos q SRV el soul de SRV es inigualable, su voz tiene muchos mas matices q la de Clapton, me hubiera gustado esta version hecha por un negro, Stephen tenia soul de negro, su voz, me hubiera gustado BB king
Niether, his fragile ego has pushed him into the wrong camp. His prime was between cream and Dominos and then he did the right thing, mellowing out w Albert Lee into his sunset. Next he started sucking, overplaying, repeating himself (taboo in the blues) effcts out the ass w active electronics and out and out embarrassing himself trying to suck up to every hot guitarist in town....pathetic
I agree people have their own opinions whos best and what they like!I always respect opinions!!My personal favorite is and in my opinion the best is SRV but I sure love Clapton,Hendrix,Van Halen,Buddy Guy etc.. They are all great guitarists in the their own way!!
wow so many people are concerned with who is the best. why cant we all agree that these musicians together are the best and separate they are equal as the best;^) its about the music not a title of number 1 artist. thats for the pop stars. so if you cant agree that each one of these artist and SRV are equal than you should listen to pop music;^)
@larstheguitarguy : EC used to be considered the "GOD of guitar" in the 60's and 70's
although it's pretty much irrelevant as I dont think anyone can play SRV music as well as SRV himself, just like no one cap play EC music like EC himself...
If anything, you should just appreciate what both have accomplished, and the fact that both being Blues musician they still managed to have a unique and quite different (from eachother) sound.
SRV gone at 35 way too soon....if Slowhand is gone by the time hes 100 it will still be too soon....love to see one legend showing his respect to another
Clapton has an unbelievable class to his playing, sounds like a Cadillac drives, (if that makes sense). SRV was wild! full throttle shit, sounded like a supercharged Cuda.
Clapton himself said he could not believe how SRV could just keep adding lick on lick to his blues style, it was magic. Clapton is very good, excellent, but nobody can fill a stage with a guitar the way SRV did. SRV sounded like a couple of guitars, not just one guitar, one bass and drums. Damn airplane crashes, took many great musicians over the years. Ever wonder how SRV would have expanded his talent with a few more decades? Wow.
@larstheguitarguy You couldn't compare those Heros on the Guitar. Sadly one was called back home to early(RIP Stevie Ray, we all miss you buddy!), but the other one is still with us... So be happy, that Stevie played like he did and that Eric plays like he still does.

@larstheguitarguy Just a comment on your comment of eight months ago concerning Clapton as Jesus - well, let's just say that you are wrong on a number of fronts: both Clapton and Vaughan are masters of what they do and did all on their own. It's like saying B.B King is superior to Albert King. That said, you really do need knowledge of theology and knowledge of Christianity, generally, before making such an outrageous statement. Your statement suggests, however, that you won't get my point.
@Teachering im getting pretty tired of Youtubers without humor, my comment was a joke! JOKE! im not trying to look like an ignorant little shit here. i respect and love both of them. of course i know they can't be compared. Im just trying to be funny but no one seem to get the joke around here.
Clapton's sings with such passion and emotion, but that passion and emotion never seems to translate to his guitar work. His solos always sound lifeless and hollow to me.
It's no so much what he's playing that sounds lifeless, it's the guitar tone he's using here, and often uses in the last 20 years. It's often just so flat and lifeless.
@Teelux Yeah, I think he should just go back to the kind of tone he used in Cream/Bluesbreakers. He probably doesn't want to because he doesn't want to retrace that ground, but that's pretty silly. His sound back then was the best, in my opinion.
@Jdeman Stevie hated Lace pickups. Thats more Claptons style. Which he took from Buddy in a way cause Buddy was his idol. Wouldnt be Stevies guitar. Stevies Hamiltone came original with Lace Sensors and he didnt like them so he put some fender pups in it. Dig? Peace -Cody Lee Meece
@jackhessell And that's beautyfull in guitar/ music. Clapton doesn't have to imitate Stevie, he has his own beautyfull style and thats only a tribute, he plays it's his way. Every guitarist is unique. Thats why Clapton ain't Stevie :).
Sorry Bro, I feel your pain. Been giggin since 63, gotta look down at the fret board a little bit more often now. Yes, I noticed the teleprompter, my bad. Milt
Yeah, I know what monitors are. I'm talking about the teleprompter underneath the camera that is scrolling lyrics like karaoke. See it twice if you look closely. That's OK...I've played enough gigs and am getting old now where I forget the damn lyrics enough that I could use one.
NO OFFENSE, but, SRV could not do this. EC cover is simply what the song should be.

Who better to do a tribute to Stevie than Eric Clapton. I think Clapton's Version is good.

love clapton dont get me wrong but, u can tell if u close your eyes and listen the music this aint stevie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@jackhessell And that's beautyfull in guitar/ music. Clapton doesn't have to imitate Stevie, he has his own beautyfull style and thats only a tribute, he plays it's his way. Every guitarist is unique. Thats why Clapton ain't Stevie :).

@jackhessell
Its not stevie because its clapton playing his own sound. Nobody at this concert is mimicking stevie.
